Surprising that this wonderful Forest Service campground hasn't been reviewed for more than a year. It is just off a U.S. highway, has a scenic lake with fishing, has numerous hiking/cross-country ski trails, and has water and ELECTRICITY! Only 20/30A power, but air conditioning isn't generally needed at this very shady, higher altitude campground anyway. Threaded water hydrants are scattered through the campground and each site has a power post, picnic table, and fire pit. The pit toilets were as immaculate as any I have ever seen and had no odor. We even met a couple who have celebrated their anniversary at the same Sibley Lake campsite since 1999. But for the reservation fee and lack of an RV dump station, I would have rated this one a "10"! We would definitely camp here again. It is a long uphill climb using US 14/14A when heading west or east. US 14A heading west was easy with our diesel exhaust brake. But a gasoline RV could have braking issues in either direction. Westbound RVs on 14A have "brake-cooling" pull-outs and runaway truck ramps, but eastbound RVs have only scenic overlooks for brake cooling. An RV driver must be able to use lower gears on the downhill grades and go slow to minimize braking. If you can smell your brakes, you need to stop immediately! We camped at Sibley Lake (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a very nice Forest Service campground. We had reservations for site 16 which had electric service and some shade. All the sites had a fire pit, grill, picnic table and lantern stand. There was a nice trail around the lake. Other than that, the only other trails were snowmobile and cross country ski trails that weren't really walking trails but would do. The pit toilets were the cleanest and nicest smelling pit toilets I have ever seen (and smelled). The gravel road around the campground can get a little dusty. One of the nice things about this place was that all four days of our visit the temperature was in the low 70s while down in Dayton and Ranchester it was in the upper 90s. The climb from Dayton is steep but there are a number of pull-outs, both uphill and downhill. We camped at Sibley Lake (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Site 21 and 22 are probably the best sites in the park if you want privacy. There is a very nice dump station about 5 miles west of the campground. They ask for a donation. Just past the dump station there is a filling station that sells very expensive diesel fuel.

Nice Forest Service campground. The lake is a short walk from the campsites. Long campsites, some closer together than others. Well marked Cross country ski trails next to campground made for excellent hiking trails. Forest Service Dump Station about 5 miles away near Burgess Junction. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Sibley Lake (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful Forest Service park in the Big Horn mountains. Big back in sites. I thought I was going to have 20amp power but to my surprise it was 30amp. The rate is with the Golden Age card. It wasn't 50% off for some reason but still not a bad price. There were water faucets scattered in the park. Satellite was easy to get where I camped. Nice campground and would definitely stay again. We camped at Sibley Lake (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.
