This park is at the foot of Devils Tower and right at the entrance gate. There is a restaurant and gift shop, and a much larger store and gift shop across the highway. There are some trees and grass and overall it's a nice and very convenient location for visiting Devils Tower, which you can basically see in 1/2 day. You can also drive into Sundance. The site was level. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Devil's Tower KOA was a great place. It's literally at the entrance to the National Monument. We were lucky - our site had some big shade trees. Many sites are without shade. The kids' playground was terrific. The store was decent. The pool was clean and a good size. We had Verizon cell service. The WiFi was almost useless. We really enjoyed the movie presentation of Close Encounters. Most of all, I just enjoyed sitting in the shade looking at our view of Devil's Tower. All the utilities were fine and our gravel site was surprisingly even. There was passing thunderstorm, but things didn't get too muddy. Overall, I would be happy to stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Typical KOA with the little gift shop of souvenirs and a cafe attached and really nice people doing their jobs running the campground. You can't beat this CG for the view and proximity to Devil's Tower, so it's a perfect place for an overnight stopover. Sites level but some a bit close. Some sites nicer ($) than others; you get what you pay for. Bathrooms were just okay. We used our Verizon MiFi which was fine, but no TV/antenna stations are available and there's no cable TV, so have a good book ready. They offer nightly summer hayrides for a small fee if this is of interest. There's a pool which would satisfy the need for kids to swim. What was fun is that every night, weather permitting, they show "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" which prominently features Devils Tower, so you sit there outside enjoying your popcorn watching the movie and just beyond the screen is Devils Tower -- very cool if you're into stuff like that. If we ever come to DT again, we would stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Extremely friendly and nice check-in staff. The usual KOA setup and drive to your site. Worth it to get the shaded sites with views of the Tower. Newer section has wider pull throughs, but no shade or views. Branches are trimmed high so should not be a problem. Gravel roads and sites with some grass between, can be dusty if drivers don't obey speed limits. Nice wide roads. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Great park for visiting Devil's Tower. The owners are the 7 generation that owned the land that deeded the Tower to Teddy Roosevelt for a National Monument, according to our hayride driver, which will revert back to the family should the US ever change their mind.

The campground was packed and the sites are quite tight. We even had another camper park right next to us on the grass and share our electric hookup. We did not mind since we were here for one night but I could see it would be a problem for a longer visit. Site was level and had plenty of gravel to prevent mud.

We would stay again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here in June in a fifth wheel. The park is right next to Devils Tower NM and we had an excellent view from our site. We had a pull through in the back section that had an odd layout as when all the sites in that section are full you have to either back in past the other sites or drive in and then then back in as there is no access around those sites. The site was basic with a picnic table. There are ants mounds everywhere. We saw deer right across from us in the tent area which is very large. Power, water and sewer worked ok except the power and water went out the last day we were there so we just used our tank. WI-FI was useless. The laundry machines all worked and are not cheap $2.00 a load. Pool looked very nice. They have a nice store that is well stocked. and a cafe we didn't use. Devils Tower is very interesting and worth seeing. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Located just outside the entrance to Devil's Tower. Sites and roads are gravel and quite dusty. The park is large with great views of the Tower. Sites are close together. The on site cafe has a very limited menu and high prices for what you get. Adequate for a one night stay. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice, level, shady sites, with good utilities. We had a great view of Devils Tower right through our front windshield (Site #35). Gift shop and store are nice, and the little cafe also looks good (we didn't eat there). If you're in the area, there is no reason to shy away from this campground. We came to see Devils Tower and the campground is within feet of the entrance.

We were initially disappointed with the place because it looked so rough. However, the Tower park and KOA were just coming up to speed for the season. Late May and we had tons of room.

The roads and sites are gravel...not dirt. Our area was really rough...site had plenty of room, but the gravel was barely wide enough for our MH.

This is one of the parks where they save everything, including junk. It's not a picturesque campground, that's for sure, but it serves its purpose. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Activities in the National park don't really kick in until Memorial Day, so we were a bit early. But the purpose of our visit was to see the Tower. Oh, my! The surrounding cliffs are almost as awesome.

Bring your basics because shopping is scarce. Souvenir shops are way over-priced.

This park was okay. We enjoyed watching the deer that came out at dusk. The park is right next to Devil's Tower. We stayed 3 days. 2 would have been more than enough. We saw Devil's Tower & walked the trail around the base. Hulett is the town 9 miles away. It had a grocery & a couple of cafes. We didn't try them. There is a nice restaurant & gift shop about a mile and a half south of the park. It is not much to look at on the outside but the food was great. There is a place across the street from the camp that sells hot dogs, burgers, etc. We don't recommend that. The KOA itself has a restaurant but we were there in Sept. & it was closed for the season. The park has a nice pool. The staff was friendly. One other thing, even though Devil's Tower is quite a bit away from Sturgis, S. Dak don't try coming during the Rally. They were packed. As a matter of fact the owners hurriedly put in 15 to 20 new sites to take advantage of the extra business. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice place to stay. Wild deer and turkey roam thru the park. There is a small fenced in bark park, play ground for the other kids. You can see the tower right from the park. Store has lots of items, including adult beverages. Park also offers a hay ride in the early evening, includes a history lesson and local wildlife on the ranch, lots of fun. Even though overpriced, this KOA is very convenient to Devils Tower and you can easily hike the trails from the campground. The space between the sites was the best I have experienced at any KOA. The front desk help was quick and courteous. The utilities were well placed and worked well. I did not use the bathroom, shower room or pool. The only problem I had were the number of people who walked through my site. One kid even rode his bike around the picnic table. I don't suppose this was KOA's fault but in a way it was because there was no other easy route from the back of the facility to the swimming pool and store. I would stay here again. During the Sturgis Rally, and just before the rally, you will want to check in early because bikers pretty much take over the parking spaces. They are all very nice people, it's just that there are so many of them!

What an incredible location at the foot of Devils Tower! Expensive sites (we only had W/E) but if you want electricity when it is in the 90s - this park is practicality the only one around. We stayed the first weekend in Aug when the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was starting. Do not visit the Black Hills area the last week of July/ first week of Aug if the constant roar of motorcycles is not your thing. Also campgrounds within a hundred miles of Sturgis raise their rates during that time - our Sat night rate was $12 more than Fri because of Sturgis. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground is in the shadow of Devils Tower, which is very cool. It is less than 7/10 of a mile to the base of the monument. I paid a lot of money for the extras, a total of about $130 for 2 nights, but they weren't worth it. The pool is very small and always crowded. The free nightly showing of Close Encounters is on a large screen...but it is a television screen in a cupboard on the back deck. The laundry is expensive, $2 for washing and the same for drying, and they don't sell individual detergent in the laundry room. I had to go to the store and buy a pack of detergent and the minimum I could get was for 5 loads. It's pretty dusty since the roads are dirt. The WiFi goes in and out so it is mostly unusable. The worst part - which is no fault of the campground - is that there is a famous motorcycle rally called Sturgis that is being held this week about 2 hours away. There are literally hundreds of motorcycles here, making it loud, unpleasant and very hard to maneuver an RV around. Make sure to book your vacation at another time than this annual event. The check-in was only one person while a few other employees stood around and didn't seem to have the authority to do much. Wish I could have been here at a different time of year. I am sure it is beautiful and peaceful when motorcycles aren't revving all the time. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.
