Even though overpriced, this KOA is very convenient to Devils Tower and you can easily hike the trails from the campground. The space between the sites was the best I have experienced at any KOA. The front desk help was quick and courteous. The utilities were well placed and worked well. I did not use the bathroom, shower room or pool. The only problem I had were the number of people who walked through my site. One kid even rode his bike around the picnic table. I don't suppose this was KOA's fault but in a way it was because there was no other easy route from the back of the facility to the swimming pool and store. I would stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

During the Sturgis Rally, and just before the rally, you will want to check in early because bikers pretty much take over the parking spaces. They are all very nice people, it's just that there are so many of them!

What an incredible location at the foot of Devils Tower! Expensive sites (we only had W/E) but if you want electricity when it is in the 90s - this park is practicality the only one around. We stayed the first weekend in Aug when the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was starting. Do not visit the Black Hills area the last week of July/ first week of Aug if the constant roar of motorcycles is not your thing. Also campgrounds within a hundred miles of Sturgis raise their rates during that time - our Sat night rate was $12 more than Fri because of Sturgis. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground is in the shadow of Devils Tower, which is very cool. It is less than 7/10 of a mile to the base of the monument. I paid a lot of money for the extras, a total of about $130 for 2 nights, but they weren't worth it. The pool is very small and always crowded. The free nightly showing of Close Encounters is on a large screen...but it is a television screen in a cupboard on the back deck. The laundry is expensive, $2 for washing and the same for drying, and they don't sell individual detergent in the laundry room. I had to go to the store and buy a pack of detergent and the minimum I could get was for 5 loads. It's pretty dusty since the roads are dirt. The WiFi goes in and out so it is mostly unusable. The worst part - which is no fault of the campground - is that there is a famous motorcycle rally called Sturgis that is being held this week about 2 hours away. There are literally hundreds of motorcycles here, making it loud, unpleasant and very hard to maneuver an RV around. Make sure to book your vacation at another time than this annual event. The check-in was only one person while a few other employees stood around and didn't seem to have the authority to do much. Wish I could have been here at a different time of year. I am sure it is beautiful and peaceful when motorcycles aren't revving all the time. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

DO NOT STAY HERE DOING THE WEEK OF THE ANNUAL STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY!

We arrived after the Harley Davidson run on Sturgis. CG is large and expanding (we camped in new section, still under construction) with roomy sites, grassy landscaping and mature trees. Nice pool, no spa, playground, hook-ups vary by section. Roads/sites are gravel. Super camp store with café. Very friendly and helpful staff. What a view! WARNING: no fuel available; nearest diesel is 27 miles in Sundance, WY. Only minimal groceries available. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The only reason to come here is the Devils Tower National Monument. Entrance fee. If you're over 50, be careful of the Red Beds Trail (2.8 miles, uphill, both ways). Tower Trail is 1.3 miles, moderate up/down, asphalt trail. Go bouldering; climb the Tower with permit if you dare.

Spent an overnight here during the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Not my idea of quiet, scenic fun.

Interior dirt roads created dusty conditions when vehicles were driving on them. No enforcement of speed limits within campground.

Wifi access was okay. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent 3 nights here while visiting the monument. Our site was a bit short for our rig but it was not a full hookup site so I attribute it to that. Roads and sites are gravel and the dust is bad when there is traffic and the speed limit is ignored. Even some staff drove too fast. Staff was very good and helpful in every way. There is a store and restaurant but prices were too much for us. Views off the Tower are great though! We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very unique and cool place to stay. Showers weren't the best but I would still stay there again just because it was so great. They show the Close Encounters movie at night with the tower in the background and they do a hay ride around the monument. Great pool and playground, the kids loved it. Rock climbing with tower guides was awesome too if you are so inclined. Memorable stay! We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Location..location.. You can't beat the view! This is a big park with lots of everything. Mostly, of course, it offers proxomity to and excellent views of Devil's Tower. We stayed in a water and electric site. Everything worked well with the exception of the WiFi. Strong signal, no throughput. I think it's a function of being in a remote location and having to rely on satellite based internet service. Verizon worked well though, both voice and data. Our gravel site was level with no shade, but other sites did offer partial shade. I highly recommend reservations well in advance. Devil's Tower is a popular destination, and it's VERY cool, by the way. We would stay here again if we should find ourselves out this way. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Park is right outside the entrance to Devils Tower so you're paying for the convenience. You get a great view if the tower from anywhere in the park. Rate includes my VKR discount. Check-in was a monumental example of inefficiency. There were 3 KOA employees behind the desk but only one was open to check in guests. The other 2 stood around asking everyone who lined up if we accreditations but never did anything to speed up check-in! I joined a line of 4 campers waiting to check in during prime check in time (after 1 pm). And to make it worse, this is also the same place you line up to buy stamps, sign up for the wagon ride and pay for your store purchases. It's not clearly marked in the parking lot where to park while you're suffering thru check-in so when I finally got our assigned space, the parking lot had multiple rigs just trying to stay out if each other's way. Also, for the price we paid, we should've at least gotten a colored map with their campground rules. Instead, I was handed a faded photocopied map and no rules whatsoever. There's a nightly wagon ride for $6 per person. The Close Encounters movie is shown every night. Our 50 amp, full hookup pull thru was long and wide. Hookups are way in the back so your tow vehicle has to be parked up front. Internal roads are gravel and dusty. Sites are gravel with grass in between. Off leash dog park is very small. Everything in the camp store is way way over priced ($4 for one bottle of hard lemonade). It's my least favorite campground so far but they're conveniently located to see the tower so there isn't much choice. It's very family friendly with a pool and nice playground. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Our 10 day stay here did not have a view of the tower and was 9 days too long. Even after repeated emails to the office and KOA customer service the poop container in the dog park was not emptied after 10 days. Unfortunately we were parked next to the dog park. The laundry room was disgusting and in disrepair. There is no posted speed limit so drivers and staff kick up dust all day. We would not stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Can't get closer to Devil's Tower unless you are in the park. The night we stayed the place was packed. 320 cyclist were passing through, many in tents. But the site was able to handle the crowd and still provide good service.

Roads in park are easy to navigate, and all utilities were available as advertised. There is a small general store and restaurant. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Watch the nightly free showing of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, with Devil's Tower looming in the background.

This was an overnight stay; we wanted to include the Devils Tower monument on the way home. We arrived later in the day; so, we didn't get to take advantage of some services and amenities.

The overall campground appeared clean and managed well; the staff was helpful with providing information and answering our questions. This place gets very full of campers; so, make reservations.

Check-in went quickly; afterwards as staff member escorted us to our campsite. The sites were level; and the full-hookups were in good shape. He pointed out the various facilities. We found the bathrooms and showers to be reasonably clean and maintained, considering how many campers were there.

We did our laundry; the washers ($2.25/load) and dryers ($2.00/cycle; needed to run twice for most loads) were in good working condition. They had two laundry facilities; the one furthest from the park office had more machines. They had live music around a community campfire. You are literally sleeping at the foot of the Devils Tower at this KOA; which adds a very nice touch to staying here. The WiFi had acceptable signal; once we figured out the password.

The next morning we slept-in slightly, the campsites were virtually empty. Expect there to be a line getting into Devils Tower; which is directly in front of the KOA office. The park office staff provided fruitful recommendations on which path to travel with a trailer to our next destination.

We would stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearest restaurants may be 26mi away, close to the interstate; plan accordingly.

The view of Devils Tower is awesome. That is the nicest thing I can say about this campground. The grass where we placed our tent was full of thistles and animal poop. The driveway around the camping area was so dusty you choked when a car went around. The shower houses didn't have any hot water, and it didn't matter what time you went there. We tried at 6 am and 11pm and had cold water both times. Left the place filthy! Would not stay there again. No privacy whatsoever. Extremely overpriced for a place with terrible facilities. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Tent.

Park advertises hay rides, a nightly movie, and a swimming pool, none of which was available. The rate is high and should have been reduced until amenities are available. Most KOAs don't allow dogs in buildings but I guess for the owner they make an exception. The showers were filthy and didn't appear to have been cleaned for some time. Office staff is great, in the face exorbitant pricing on ancillary items. We will not stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.

Our site was an easy, level pull-through under a tree. While there are no fire rings at the sites, there are a few group rings that the campground hosts set up each night. Our site had one next door. Laundry facilities were in disrepair. Pool was in desperate need of cleaning with murky, greasy water. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The nightly showing of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was really cool. Devils Tower was fun to walk around (paved trails).
