It's all about location, location, location. This park is at the entrance gate to Devils Tower. The tower welcome center is 3 miles up the park road. The campground is large with a variety of sites. Our grass back-in was pretty short for our 5th wheel but there was a place beside us for our truck. Also had to be careful of low tree branches. But we were right in front of the tower with only an open field between us. FHU but no wi-fi or cable and no OTA channels. Pool area and dog park. Nice store in campground office. Huge tent area, cabins and even wigwam tents. Was pricey but the view was worth every penny. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Other recent reviews cover it pretty well. Our site was long, and when we were there, fairly muddy. Staff was helpful with directions. Difficult to get into the park due to a long queue of visitors to the Tower. But road construction now in process will give the KOA its own access road. We were able to get our sat TV to work well, no cable TV, didn't try antenna. Verizon phone good, KOA wifi good but slow during peak hours. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Return trip to one of our faves. Road construction underway should alleviate all the complaints about the wait to get into the KOA or the Monument. Few upgrades here and there in the campground but it's still just as beautiful as it ever was. Extremely helpful workampers, great campstore, even better cafe and showing the movie Close Encounters every night. The hayride was fun and great opportunity to view wildlife. They've added a bunch of tent sites with water and electric. This place just gets better and better each time we come back. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Our site faced Devils Tower, what a view! They show Close Encounters nightly. The staff was friendly and helpful and the cafe was excellent! Site was grass and dirt, but some in our caravan had gravel. Overall, it was an excellent campground. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Very generous spaces between sites, many with shade trees. Our pull-through site had excellent views, but many sites will not have this. Very clean and well-maintained. There is excellent wifi but no cable or OTA reception. Would certainly return! We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Wonderful location, can't be beat. Huge nice area for tenters. Would stay here again no matter what the cost. Shortcommings: lots of flies, could not eat outside. Laundry - only 4 washers & dryers, with workcampers slowly folding their items on top of the dryer while 3 "paying guests" waiting for a dryer. Also have never seen so many flies inside a building. Trip hazzards - close to our site, belonging to the campground, lots of hoses & electric extension cords laying on the ground, a trip waiting to happen as guests walk to restrooms at night. Restaurant - one dinner, flies and the worst mashed potatoes & gravy have ever had in my life, one bite and unable to eat. A lady asked a server about going out the back door of the dining room. This was a clearly marked emergency exit.... a lit exit sign above it. Server replied that this door is always deadbolted. This is a huge life safety violation and a big libiality for the KOA campground. Do they really have that big a problem with RV'ers running out the back door without paying? Or are they just to lazy to unlock the door in the morning & lock it back upon closing. Movie. On our last night we looked forward to taking the grandkids to seeing the Close Encounters movie. It is on a TV outside with about 70 seats. One would think that watching the movie with Devil's Tower behind it would be a highlight, but the trees behind the TV block out the Tower completely. Worst thing -- about 3/4 into the movie, just as they were getting to Devil's Tower, the screen went blank except for a big Face Book logo. A "full house" of guests wondered what to do as the office was closed and no staff to be found. Everyone driffed away very disappointed. Bummer, bummer end to our stay at the campground. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The best part of this park is the location to the entrance to Devils Tower National Monument. Other campgrounds are 45 min away. We walked into the park from here. I'm not a big fan of KOA but this one was worth paying up for the location. The park is nice but sites are kind of tight. Road needs more gravel as there are some pretty big potholes. The views are spectacular and the Belle Fourche River runs along red cliffs on 2 sides. They run the movie Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind every night! This is a nice campground, which is at the foothills of Devil's Tower. The staff was nice, and our site was clean. I used the laundry room, which had a washer and dryer down, but still-three of each left to use. The laundry room was clean. We had a clean site, which was spacious enough. Easy to find, but can be a long wait to enter when traffic is backed up at Devils Tower entrance which it often is. After you turn into the campground the entrance is poorly designed and confusing which causes problems. Pleasant staff. Very nice camp store and gift shop. Layout of campground is confusing with tight turns, but pull through site was long enough for our motorhome and toad. Utilities are toward back of site and are inconvenient if you are leaving your toad attached. Utilities worked well. No cable or ota channels. Wifi is poor. Very overpriced for what you get. The only reason to stay here is proximity to Devils Tower. I doubt we would stay again. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I like this campground, in general. Biggest cons are the cost. It is extremely expensive, at 63.00/night with Good Sam discount. There are no fire rings or grills. There are very cheap, table top charcoal grills for $20 here, which is what we bought. We had to put our rear wheels on 6" blocks. The majority of the pull through sites are more level. All roads and sites are gravel. Some of the good points: Location: Except for the National Park Campground in the park, this is the closest RV park. This park is literally just yards outside the entrance to Devils Tower. The customer service is great. My sewer receptacle was too high, about 6". I complained about it, and the next morning, people came with a stack of lumber, and made it work. There are two fairly large souvenir shops here with fast food. Still, if you can find another park at a reasonable rate, it might be worth it. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Location is the primary draw to this park located next to the entrance of Devil's Tower NM. Still a nice park overall. Our pull through site was large enough for our MH and toad, somewhat close to our neighbor, fairly level, gravel but clean. Friendly staff. The lower section of the campground is the actual film site for scenes from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." As a summer bonus the park screens the movie every night in it's amphitheater, or you can rent a DVD from the office. I'd stay here again. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a great park to stay at if visiting the Devils Tower Monument or anything in the area. We stayed for 3 nights and had a large pull-thru site. The park is directly at the base of the Tower and every site has a nice view of the Tower. There's 2 small gift shops onsite and one of them has very limited grocery supplies. If you need gas or groceries, the closest location is in Hulett, 9 miles away. There's a small river that runs right along the park that I fished and caught a couple carp. The park was not even half full when we stayed (May 18th) but I bet it gets really crowed after Memorial Day. One of the best parts of our 35 day trip so far. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We drove into Hulett for fuel and supplies. Bought a bunch of homemade foods from 2 Mennonite girls selling outside the grocery store. Took a drive down to Keyhole lake. We took a 19 mile drive down dirt roads through "open range" country to get there - awesome views.
