This was an overnight stop that became 2 nights - 2 nights too many. Heavy population of oilfield workers and extended stay campers. We had a site that literally overlooked the gravel pit the park used to patch roads. Dust and rock everywhere. Two pieces of heavy equipment were busy all day. Digging and moving rock. Pickup trucks fired up around 5 am. On the upside, utilities worked and were logically placed. This is a worker park if just for a place to plug in en route elsewhere. Would not stay here again We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

We arrived with multiple RV's. There were three very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable you ladies that checked us in and parked us. We have stayed at many KOA RV parks and this one should be used by KOA as a model for friendly efficient service. It certainly was appreciated by us after a long day of driving. Our dogs very much appreciated the patch of grass at each site too! We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

It's old, but clean. Like many others, there's not been any money put in upgrades/improvements for many years. Staff was friendly and the store/office was well stocked. Take Exit 140 from I25 and it's fairly easy to locate-just follow the signs. Facility wise, I've stayed in much better KOA Campgrounds-like concrete pads, etc. I would stay there again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ft Fetterman, Pioneer Museum, Railroad Museum, and POW Prisoner Area are some areas of interest. The Ayers Natural Bridge is a must see although it is 7 miles out of town as is Ft Fetterman.

Both of our GPS devices agreed on the route and would have taken us directly to the park had Bob not had a brain cramp during some road construction and took an exit instead of staying on the interstate. Luckily it was just a couple miles the other way on the interstate and then back through the rest area we just left. Even without a GPS we would have made it to the park as they had the best signage from the internet that we have ever seen. The office at the KOA was closed when we got here but they had our park handout in the night registration area and we found our way to our site. The pull thru was long enough that we could stay hooked up which was great since a one night layover. After we had settled in Bob walked to the office and paid. The hookups looked convenient although all we used was electrical. We had a great line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. ATT cellular was 4 bars and 4g was 2 bars. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Get a pizza at Friendz. Turns out Friendz Pizzeria, which was advertised in the KOA handout and offering delivery, has the best pizza in the state of Wyoming per Yelp. So you know we had to order some pizza. We got the BBQ and Brisket and the Hang Loose (Maui Pizza). Both were excellent and we both admitted we liked the one we were currently eating the best. Definitely gets added to our 'Our Favorite Things'.

KOA rate w/o tax. This park is close to interstate but no road noise. Hookups were good; nice layer of gravel on roads and pad; easy to navigate interior roads. Level pads. Just enough elevation in the park to have a nice view of the area. This was an overnight stop for us and it met all our needs. We would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here one night on our way home from Yellowstone NP. RV parking area all gravel, and with a thin strip of grass between some sites. Trees surround the campground as a whole, but otherwise pretty barren. Then again, it is South-Eastern Wyoming. Nice grassy area and dog run, boarding pens for horses which our dog loves to visit. Staff efficient and helpful with checking in and setting up. Pretty bright at night with overhead street light type lights on in the RV area. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

Extremely speedy and courteous check in and guided to the site. The park has a lot of permanents because of mining and oil exploration so there was some very early morning traffic. We had called ahead to reserve one of the few very long pull through sites. The length was adequate and easy in easy out. This park also has corrals for overnight of animals. We would stay again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

One of the nicer KOAs we've stayed at. Very quiet even when jammed full for the eclipse. Some daytime road noise from I-25. Asphalt and gravel for access roads. Main exit road has trees overlapping well into road, big rigs will need most of the exit road to avoid. Good sized gravel sites are mostly level. Gravel patios, small square of grass, some with trees, picnic table. Not a lot of shade. Power ok, water ok (60psi, but dropped off under load), sewer ok but back at end of site (we needed 20+ feet of hose to reach). Campground wifi had decent signal and widely varying speeds from adequate (campground 1/4 full) to multi-minute page loads (for several hours after the eclipse). Verizon 2-3 bars with speeds ranging from adequate to non existent. No Tmobile service. Sat access generally not an issue. Soda can recycle on site. Relatively lightly used highway outside campground for road bike riding, but no shoulders. We will stay here again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

We have a 21' travel trailer. The sites are close together but that is the norm for koa's the sites had a small patch of grass which was a nice touch. When we checked in someone showed us to our site which was very nice. The whole area was very clean. We have a 7 and 4 year old and they were both very happy with the playground, pool, and mini golf. We did not take advantage of the breakfast or s'mores but both seemed like very nice touches. It was quiet at night and out of town. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Most KOA's are overpriced. This one is not. Site was fairly easy in-out with trash cans at each site. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good wifi, good ATT, easy satellite set-up. Good cable. Roads and sites are gravel but level. Not much to fuss about. We would stay here again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have the time visit the statue of Sir Barton, the first triple crown winner in 1919, in a local park and then see Ayres Natural Bridge. It is 10 miles north of town and then 5 miles on a poor road but worth it.

The owners are super nice people who can be found around the park often. They spend a bit of time getting to know their campers. There is a large playground area with several pieces of equipment. There is a nice horseshoe pit area. There are a few nice wooden swings where you can relax. The pool is nice and clean. The mini golf course is fun and challenging. There is a gazebo in the pool area so you can get in the shade if you need to. There is a specialty coffee shop next to the office. There is a yurt where they do movies and other activities. We went to a painting party there as well as one of the movies. It's air conditioned, so it's quite comfortable. There is an open air wooden structure called "S'moreville" where they do breakfasts, dinners, and s'mores. On the 4th of July, they did several craft activities in the afternoon, including a tie dye shirt and streamers. There was no charge for the holiday crafts. There are wooden enclosures every couple of sites all over the park for the campers to put their garbage in, and is picked up every morning. Each site has its own little raised bed of grass and a picnic table. Very comfortable and excellent value for the cost! We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

Typical KOA with nice pool and play area and office. Road to park is paved but everything else is pretty much rock and dirt resulting in dust. Utilities are very good and wifi is not great but useable most of the time. Sites are long and wide so you can park your tow either behind or by the side of your rv. Quiet at night but no quiet hours as both of my neighbors were noisy when they left at 5am. Excellent employees who seem to enjoy what they are doing. Town is about 2 miles away and has everhthing you need. Would stay again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

nice and quiet. gravel lot. our site (E7) had power issues when it was really hot and park was full. Wifi really good. Friendly owners. Nice pool. I would stay here again. If you are 40' and above I would try to avoid A, B, C rows which seemed a bit cramped. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.
