Great State Park Campground off the beaten path in Lander, WY. Sites have no hook ups, but most back up to the Sinks River. There are not very many sites, and it is first come, first served. Payment is made in an envelope at a pay station. We have a 25' Motorhome, not sure if anything much bigger would fit. There is an awesome trail down to a Visitor Center that explains how the Sinks/Rise of the River works. There is also a nice pond at the "Rise" where there are 100+ huge trout (no fishing allowed, but real nice to watch). Trail is only 1.5 miles, but has a lot of elevation change. There is also a real neat swinging bridge that crosses the river near the campground. We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

This was my first experience dry camping, which I was a little apprehensive about. After seeing the gorgeous scenery and private and secluded sites, I knew that I had nothing to worry about!

There are two separate camping areas within the state park. We camped at the second one, which was past the visitor and information center. The first cg was very small with just a few sites. Those sites ran parallel along the interior roads.

We camped here two nights on our way north to the Grand Tetons, then Yellowstone and finally the Canadian Rockies. My husband and I both agreed we should have stayed longer, we loved it that much! The campground is quite small, and most sites can accommodate just tents or small rvs. Thankfully we found one of the few spots that would work for our 32 foot long class A. After backing in, there still was plenty of room to park my car in front of our rig. No hook ups, but there is fresh water from a hand pump.

Where to start? Well, as I said, the views of the mountains and canyon are gorgeous! A rapidly moving river runs thru the campground, you can hear the sound of running water thru out the park, which I just loved. We enjoyed the great hiking trails. (The swinging bridge to reach them was a bit unnerving to me!)

Super quiet, mostly tenters when we were here. They do allow you to run a generator, which we did when we needed to make morning coffee, use the microwave, etc. Fresh water is available, no flush toilets though. The vault toilets were pretty nasty, tons of flies.

Super quiet and nice and dark at night! I slept better than I had in ages! Park rangers are very friendly and helpful. My husband asked if there was a dump station in the area, and a ranger told us of one in town, which was free to boot!

We would love to return here some day if ever in the area again, and would stay even longer! We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

If you're in a big rig, don't even bother. We have a 40ft combo with only a 23ft TT and did not even attempt to back into one of the few spots that looked as if it *might* accomodate our set up. Instead, since it was off season, we parked in one of the parking lots. It worked out fine and the rangers didn't hassle us or anything, but it was less than ideal. That said, this state park is not to be missed if you're in the area, simply because of the cool geologic wonders of the sinks and the rise. Maybe visit the park as a day trip from one of Lander's other RV parks! We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Such a treat, this little state park. Interesting trails and visitor center, very quiet campground (except for the lovely roar of the river), and some of the most unusual geology you'll ever camp next to. This is our idea of camping. But it's tiny. We have a 25' Class C and arrived at 4PM mid-week to find pretty much one of the only spots we'd fit in (and the CG was pretty empty). Not a big-rig friendly place, but there was a very skilled 5th wheel driver pulled into one of the sites. Come early, find a site, and enjoy the scenery. We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

This park was beautiful! We were at the end of a long drive and managed to find this park on the map. It was a bit of a drive south of Lander towards the Wind River Canyon. It was in a drainage up the canyon and was picture perfect. Typical state park provisions but was right next to a really cool river & was nice to hike around. Staff ware extremely friendly and helpful. For state park camping it was excellent! We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Tent.
