This is a dispersed (boondocking) campground. Amazing views and plenty of room for our 5th wheel, truck, firepit plus room for a couple of tents if we wanted. Our site was probably 1/8 mile from the nearest one to us. The price is right as it's free. No hookups - so bring your own power and water. You can run a generator 24 hours a day here and no one will mind. In October, we had the place almost to ourselves for about 7 miles. The road in is washboarded (bad) - but we brought our 44 foot 5w in doing about 5mph. Yes - we get jarred around - but the view, the amazing star views at night, serenity and quiet was worth it. The Feds do not care if you pick up wood here and there is wood everywhere for your fire. You need to drive past the pay sites (instead of turning left into the pay campground, continue on the dirt/gravel road straight ahead). The further you drive in - the better the views. Don't be alarmed if you see folks carrying guns as Wyoming is an open carry state. The only wildlife we saw in October was beaver and chipmonk - but did see tracks from antelope and something that looked like bear scat. On other review sites, people talked about trash left here. In October - we did not see any trash anywhere. We use AT&T for internet and phone and we had great service with both. fast internet and no dropped calls. We camped at Vedauwoo Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hiking is great. In the summer, looks like alot of motorbikes and 4 wheelers use the area - but in October - it was beautiful and quiet. Remember - leave it clean. Folks talked about trash on reviews - but we didn't see ANY.

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $10.00

We planned to stop here overnight. This is a National Forest Campground just off I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie Wyoming. We had backed into the the only available site left, just at dark when the Camp "Host" (volunteer) asked us to leave as she said someone had already 'reserved' that site by sticking a piece of paper on the post where you clip your stub after filling out your vehicle information and dropping the $10 fee in a locked box. You CANNOT Reserve Nat Forest Campsites, and she did not know who the people were or if they had even paid, but still insisted that the site was spoken for and that we move. We were upset and left, BEWARE overzealous "Camp Hosts" in National Forest Campgrounds! Although pretty scenery, no hookups and you could still hear the noise from the interstate. We camped at Vedauwoo Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.
