We stayed here for two nights in our 35 foot motorhome while visiting Fort Laramie, 5 miles up the road. The hostess, was friendly and accommodating and the park clean and well laid-out. We didn't have any trouble getting into our pull-through site with our 35 foot RV, but a big rig (40 or 44 feet) might find not enough room to park their toad. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely visit Fort Laramie! Historically it was at the center of things during the Sioux Wars of the 1870's and 80's, as well as having been a major trading post and wayfaring stop for travellers on the Oregon and California Trails. The buildings have been either reconstructed or restored to give you a complete idea of what the fort was like, and the presentations by the park ranges (4 a day) are full of fascinating information.

Traveling through with my telescopes, we stayed for the Dark Skies. Was able to spend a couple nights sharing the views with the owners and others and getting some good pictures of the Milky Way and some Deep Sky objects. were very accommodating in getting me into a site with very little light pollution. I hope to stop by again sometime and will recommend this to other amateur astronomers. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great little campground in farmland in the middle of nowhere. Had no problems with flies. Stayed here to visit Ft. Laramie and pioneer wheel ruts. Super friendly and hard working owners. Had shaded grassy site & utilities were where they should be. Will stay here again when passing through. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a clean campground with some shade and level sites. The owners were very nice people. Unfortunately the sites are mostly mowed weeds, with a lot of fox tails. The flies were absolutely horrible. I've never been in a campground with so many flies. The back row is where the 50 amp power is, and if all the spots are full there's a problem with the power supply. One afternoon it stopped working twice. One of the motorhomes moved to another row and they replaced a fuse so we were good to go after that. We had days over 100 degrees, so everybody used their air conditioning. Their website states that there are train tracks nearby. They aren't kidding. Those train whistles are going off day and night. Loudly. Closely. There is no cable, no local TV stations and I couldn't connect to the internet the 5 days of our stay. The only attraction in the area is Fort Laramie, and it's worth seeing. So I'd recommend this place for an overnight stay, or 2 if you are interested in seeing the Fort. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay here. The owner is awesome and registration was one of the best we have encountered. The owner is very friendly and loves her park. Our site was plenty long and we would not have had to unhook if we were not site seeing. Looked like all sites were pull through. We had decent At&t and Verizon signals. While there are some mature trees for shade throughout the park ours did not have one. Many permanent residents who kept their sites clean for the most part. Some had kennels in their spaces and left their dogs out all day which we didn't appreciate much. If there is a downside to this park it was the trains going by all day but they didn't keep us awake all night. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ft Laramie is worth the visit. If you are in the park in June, a pony express rider will come and pick up a pre-printed letter that you can send to anyone you know, and then ride into Ft Laramie to mail it. Small donation required.

We just left this park and we thought it was an excellent value using Passport America. It's a small park but the FHU sites were level and big enough for our 40' motorhome and toad. Almost every site is a pull-through and there is very little shade. The streets are gravel and the RV's are on grass but we didn't sink at all even after being there 3 days. There is a small laundry room and the owners were very nice. There seems to be quite a lot of long-term residents staying here but they kept everything picked up and there wasn't a 'trashy' look at all. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is not a luxury RV park, so it is not a review for that standard. It is in the "middle of nowhere" in Lingle WY. That said; I can not say enough about the friendliness and care we received. Everything was dated, but clean and functional. The RV sites were level and I appreciated having the grass. An extra bonus was the garden fresh produce available in the office at an incredibly reasonable price! There is a train track close by and you can hear it, especially the horn. It did not bother us, but it can be a negative for some people. Fort Laramie is 10 minutes away and worth a visit for any history buff! The owners take pride and are very responsive. I loved being there for 4 nights during the eclipse. Did I mention they did not upcharge for this special event! Good people there! We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Laramie is worth a visit. Especially when they have musicians there. We saw the local string band and a folk singer named Hank Cramer. Besides singing he is also a great historian! There is a little Bakery in Torrington...simply heavenly..called the Bread Doctor. Everyone in town was super friendly!

We stayed two nights in a 32-foot Class C RV, and towing a car. The campground was flat and offered electricity and water hook-ups if you wanted to be in the shade. If you didn't care about shade you could park where there was also sewer hook-ups. The spots were on grass and pull-through and there were many available, so we picked one with shade since it was 90+ degrees during the day. The owners were very nice and live on the property. There were three clothes washers and three dryers in the laundry area, which was clean. The biggest let down was that the women's shower/bathroom was dirty; had not been swept out for a few days and wasn't cleaned the two days we were there. The campground is near Fort Laramie, and not far from many other Old Oregon Trail sites. We recommend going a little out of your way and visiting Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, too. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

This campground was nearly empty when we stayed here. Super nice owners and they keep grounds very clean. Our spot had new hookups but it was mostly dirt and dead grass. The spots that are not designated "big rig" are on grass and very nice. There is noise from trains and there are a lot of them so if that bothers you... Laundry room very clean and reasonable. We would stay again. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pony Soldier is a fairly basic RV park that exactly met our needs. We visited during the fall slow season and practically had the place to ourselves for our four day stay. We were encouraged to pick our own space from the available 50 amp pull-thru spots. Not many of the grass and dirt sites have a picnic table, but those that were available could be moved. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. WiFi worked pretty well, perhaps because we were the only ones using it! We found Pony Soldier to be a great bargain and would happily stay there again. Excellent base camp spot conveniently located to town of Lingle, town of Guernsey and Ft. Laramie National Park. We didn't make it up to Guernsey State Park so not sure how much farther up there, though I suspect it would convenient to there also.

Park is kept clean, full hook-ups available, some spots had 50 amp available, pretty level spots, good water pressure while we were there, owners go above and beyond to help accommodate. There is no pool, but if you have brought bikes along for the kids, they can certainly burn some energy that way. Community fire pit available when the weather allows (county was on fire ban while we were there.)

Yes, the park is located across the highway from a train crossing, but once we were in our camper for the night we did not hear it at all. Nor did we find it a nuisance while sitting outside visiting. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park itself was fine, but the train ran every 45 minutes and blew its horn not once, not twice, but four times. Didn't really get any sleep. Can't recommend it because of the train. On the good side, very nice lady running the park. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Motorhome.

I agree, this is a great little park. The owners are working, methodically, to upgrade an older KOA park. In the past year, they have installed new electrical system. As we left, they were starting on installing new water connections and pipes. Yes, there is a major railroad across the highway, but the trains are few during the night. We didn't even notice them after sunset. The owners are very friendly and helpful. This park is nicely located to major historical sites. Yes, we would stay here again in the future and would recommend it to others. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
