Western Hills is a great place to stay if you are driving through to another destination. The park is quiet and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a restaurant and a convenience store just a few blocks away and easy access to I-80. There are bathrooms and showers on premises (we did not use) and free wi-fi that is pretty decent. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Windy on both times we stayed (one week apart while traveling). First time we stayed in one of their no-cable sites, the last time with cable. Given the wind I would not stay there more than one day but the city does have Walmart, and several other stores. We just didn't say long enough to see what else might be there. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A stop over type park, not much else. WiFi is usable but not good. Fixtures all worked well and rest rooms were clean. Not much to do nd service at close by restaurant is very slow. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

For the last 4 years we stayed here until this year. We were not even Good Sam members, but this park is great. They are always friendly and helpful and the layout is great. The dog park is great and always clean and quiet even when full. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is easily accessible from I-80 - but we've heard no noise from the highway. Despite having a gravel/stone surface, it was very clean. Excellent for an overnight stay. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

This park has a site for everyone: electric only, full hook up with cable or full hook up w/o cable. The site was very level and the voltage on the high side. Coming from the east my GPS couldn't find the street address. I turned right at the top of the ramp (exit 211) (toward town) and was able to see the sign on the hill to the left. There is a train track in the distance and I was able to hear the trains and horns. Everything is gravel so when a vehicle goes by you hear the tire noise on the gravel. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Walmart at the other end of town. There are a lot of small mining towns and scenic drives in the surrounding areas. The number one attraction in Rawlins is the Wyoming Frontier Prison. I didn't expect Thai food in WY but ate at the lunch buffet at Anong's Thai Cusine on 5th street and it was pretty good.

It is a large, gravel campground easy on/off of I-80. The office staff was very helpful and pleasant, good satellite, ATT. We were disappointed with the very poor WiFi, it would connect but nothing would load. The pull thru site was level. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Good Sam discount for an overnight stay. Site was pull-thru, electric only with 50 amp. The park is all gravel and the site boundaries are not well marked. We had good DishTV satellite reception and good Verizon cell/internet reception. The park had easy access from I-80, but far enough away to minimize road noise. We would stay here again. This rv pk was a good pick after a long day on the road. The staff was friendly. It is a gravel parking lot with fair spacing between sites. It was a long level site with FHUs including wifi that worked good. This is exactly what we look for in a park when we travel, with good roads that are easy to maneuver and the park easy to find, close to the interstate. We were not bothered by the noise and fortunately he wind was dying down. In this part of the country there are no trees to block wind . We were in a 40' mh w/toad and did not unhook. We would stay here again if traveling through. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a good park for one night or several. There's easy access off I-80 and plenty of room to maneuver big rigs. Most all sites are pull through and long enough so you don't have to unhitch. We chose a non-cable site; cable sites cost a bit more. The park is all gravel and utilities are good. Verizon cell and MiFi had a strong signal. We weren't bothered by road noise and, fortunately, there was no wind. There is a picnic table at each site. Book exchange is located in the office. We will stay here again. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For very good Thai food, try Anong's Thai Cuisine, 210 5th St. Open for lunch 11-3, dinner 5-9. Sunday dinner only 5-8.

Overall Rating:

Campground was very easy to find. Campground is right off highway, so there is quite a bit of road noise. The park was very clean and easy to set up, it was a good overnight stop. This is a standard "parking lot" style campground. Easily handles big rigs. There was room in our site for the truck, 5th wheel and jeep. The interior roads are gravel in the campground. Each camp site is gravel, with a small patch of grass. Sites are all very level. Each site had a picnic table. The wind was so strong, it was like being sand blasted-however, the campground can't change this. Good Verizon coverage. It was very easy to get DirecTV satellite. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Long gravel full-hookup 50 Amp pull-thru site with cable. Fair spacing between sites and manager was great to assign every other site for more spaciousness. Electric, sewer, water, cable worked good. WiFi was fast before 6PM and after 9PM. There was a fenced dog park. Restroom and private showers were spotless but water flow will make your RV shower seem like a torrent. Sites had a picnic table. Was pleased that our site was directly adjacent to a streetlight for ease of taking the dogs out after dark but unfortunately either the light was burned out or turned off. No lights near dog park. A little freeway and train noise but not any problem. Rate included cable and was with Good Sam. An additional $3 of tax. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

This was an alright place to stay 1 night. There is a nice view of the mountains, and the comments about being WINDY were not over exagerated. It's basically a big gravel parking lot with utilities. The sites are wide and long and level. There is NO landscaping. Our Dish satellite and Verizon Mifi worked fine. They offer cable for a fee, but free Wifi. We had 2 complaints. Several weeks before, we had made a reservation for 2 nights, but when we got there were informed they were shutting down the water the next day. We opted to only stay the 1 night. Also, noise from the highway (.3 miles away) and train whistles (.6 miles away) were a little bit too much. Not sure if we'll stay here again. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hang onto yer hat... It gets quite windy here! This place is great for a passin' through stay. The laundry room is very large and plenty of washers and dryers. We have stayed here a couple of times and will again. You will be parking on a combo of clayish dirt mixed with gravel. If its raining you will have a mess to behold.
