I liked the big roomy driveways, very easy access and lots of maneuvering room. This was a great overnight stop. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We started with two nights, then decided to stay a week, which dropped the price to $23.14 a day. This is a large park with plenty of driving room between rows. Full hookups worked fine. Level sites. Sewer connection was about 4 inches above ground level, but not a problem. No problems with electric power. Gravel with no patio pads. Clean restrooms and laundry. Everything in good working order. Park employees were friendly and helpful with local information. We are glad we chose this RV park. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rawlins is on the eastern edge of the Red Desert which has wild horses, desert elk, and lots of pronghorn. There is a Walmart, museums, Continental Divide Trail, small railroad yard, truck stop, and a place to buy ice cream downtown.

We were pleasantly surprised by this campground. Yes, it is just a large gravel lot but was very level and clean. We took an electric only site which was wide enough and long enough so I didn't unhook. Electric was good and wifi worked well. Interstate was far enough away so road noise wasn't a problem. There was some train noise but tracks were across the valley and not an issue. Good place for ovvernight. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

It's basically a big gravel parking lot. There are two dog play areas which was good. That is the only grass. Unfortunately some people didn't pick up after their pet. Office staff were friendly. Our spot was plenty long enough and level. Cable worked well. WiFi was typical of most RV parks. There is a playground and mini golf. Fine for an overnight. We would stay again if passing through. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is 'Not a Beauty' as the whole park is gravel, with no grass except the narrow, short, strips where the pets go 'potty'. But, it is by far, the least expensive RV Park we've stayed at on this trip, and although not pretty, was extremely clean & nice. We were there only for 1 night, so we opted for an 'Only Electricity' site, which was extremely close to the office & restrooms/showers. There is a 'miniature golf course' on the property. There were Many 'workers' staying there, judging by the trailers and 'work related' trucks by them. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good one-night campground. Easy to get to off I-80 but road noise was not bad. Gravel parking lot - not any grass in sight. Reminded me of the typical RV park on the Alaska highway. Online reservation was easy. It does fill up at night, so I would recommend a reservation. Check-in was easy, and staff was friendly. Utilities were fine, and site was level. However, despite the gravel, there were muddy low points here and there, including right next to our front door. WiFi was awful. Roads are very wide so easy exit the next morning. We stayed in site #7, which was a 50 amp site with cable. We didn't try the cable - wide open sight to Dish satellites so no problem with that. Plenty long for our 38' motorhome plus Jeep in tow. Would definitely stay again for a one-night stopover. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground is easy to find. Staff was pleasant. Easy for big rigs to navigate. Site was long enough that big we could keep our toad attached. Utilities are well placed and worked well. Wifi is horrible. Cable is good. Campground is a huge gravel lot with hookups. No landscaping. There is traffic noise. It is windy there. Price is right. Good place for overnight stop. We would stay again, but only for overnight. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Most accommodating staff. Family business brought us here this time, but we were unsure on the length of stay. Young lady booked our reservation for first night and held our space for second night just in case. Great owners - make reservations because this empty campground fills up to capacity every night we have stayed. We stay here frequently with family in town. It's all gravel, but spaces are level and the park is clean and well maintained. Pedestals always test good. 30 and 50 in some sites. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We come for the grandkids and activities with them. Museums, playgrounds and nearby mountains. If your four wheeler is street legal you can ride on city streets and most county and state hi ways in Wyoming. Church of Christ is a wonderful group. Look them up when you are here.

Good overnight stop, long pull thrus, no need to unhitch. Restaurant within walking distance. Wifi didn't work for us but we had good Verizon service. Electricity was also fine (but the CG was not sold out.) The noise from I-80 and a railroad line might be a factor for some but we didn't turn on the sound machine. Office staff are very nice. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 1 night while passing through on I-84. The park is a short drive from the interstate (Exit 211: BUS I-80/US 30) along paved business & rural roads. The interior roads are gravel. They are wide, flat with sufficient radii turns making maneuvering larger RV's fairly easy. The entire park is a large, flat, open area with a gravel surface. There is a mixture of P/T and tent sites. Most, if not all, of the P/T sites were long enough to say connected to a toad. The RV sites are only separated by the utility connections but there was sufficient room to open slides. This park seems to understand the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level site as the sites were generally level and flat. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50/30/20 AMP), & sewer. The utility connections were towards the middle of the sites depending on where you decided to park. The sewer connection was above ground making it difficult to establish a downhill flow depending on discharge point. Sites have an outside table. Site orientation didn't allow RV's to cast shade onto the patio side on our site. There were no trees in the park so there were no obstructions to satellite reception. The park information didn't mention anything about broadcast channels but listed 24 cable channels (that were subject to change) with the 4 primary networks coming out of Denver. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels. The park provided WiFi was weak but there was a strong wind. It was password protected. Didn't try our Verizon WiFi hotspot or the NET10 phone so don't know about reception. There were a couple of designated fenced pet areas with a sparse dry grass surface located along the back perimeter of the park. There were bag dispensers and collection stations for waste in the fenced pet area but nothing throughout the park. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park's roads. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter. None of the structures in the park were identified as a severe weather shelter. The park guide warned of "Wyoming's winds which can be strong and unpredictable!" They recommended not to leave any awnings extended.

Southern Wyoming. It is what it is. Basically a gravel parking lot. No trees, no grass. Sites close together, separated by a picnic table. Excellent big rig maneuverability. Water, sewer fine. Power not good; Low voltage on 50 Amp; had to turn off A/C. WiFi barely useable. Fully booked though. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

A very popular overnight stop for I-80 / US-287 Travelers. It is a very well run RV Park with a fair price. We paid the Good Sam rate of $33 per night with tax included. We had a 50 amp FHU with cable. Wifi varied, but was usually good outside of peak hours. Pull thru sites are fairly tight side to side, but are very long and very level. Nice wide interior roads making pulling in and out of sites easy. Rawlin's is worth a couple of days to see the area. Less than an hour up US-287 and onto WY 220 are 3 stops worth a visit. Visit Independence Rock at the rest area first, then head back to Devil's Gateway overlook and then to the Mormon Historic Site. The details of the Martin Handcart Company rescue are documented here. Well worth your time. This is where the Oregon Trail, Mormon Trail and more crossed the Continental Divide. The second must see while in the area is the Wyoming Frontier Prison. We spent 5 nights and would come again. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Buck's Sports Grill in town is a good place for a cold one and a bite to eat. We had the Supreme Pizza and took half of it home. It was outstanding. Pabst Blue Ribbon pints are $1 all the time. Many other good beers on tap as well. If you go, tell Sean that Bob & Inga said Hello.

A great place! We just stopped in for an overnight stay, and got a pull through, full hook-up with cable site. Nice and spacious, level, easy in and out of the park. The lady who checked us in was very nice! Call for reservations the park was full. We got their last spot. Definitely a place we will stay at again! We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Western Hills is a great place to stay if you are driving through to another destination. The park is quiet and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a restaurant and a convenience store just a few blocks away and easy access to I-80. There are bathrooms and showers on premises (we did not use) and free wi-fi that is pretty decent. We camped at Western Hills Campground in a Motorhome.
