3 RV Parks near Rock Springs, Wyoming
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Just an overnight. Large gravel lot, no trees, spaces pretty close together and set up so you park criss-cross so you are always facing your neighbors front door. Fine for an overnight. - Fox Mountain
May 2017 - $45.00
We stayed here 3 nights to weather a May snowstorm on I-80 and take care of repairs on our motorhome. The manager/staff members were very helpful with our extra needs - i.e., leaving MH parked while seeking repair, changing sites during our stay. Improvements being made include an exercise center and dog park grass/plantings. The campground is at the base of mountains so all areas are gravel (soupy after a snowfall/melt). We were less than a mile from a truck service center which was very convenient. The campground is easily accessible from I-80. - gbburgess
Oct 2016 - $44.00
Basic park, gravel pull-thru sites crammed together, not a good value for the price. OK for overnight, best thing about this park, it is here. - Lava

We stayed here overnight while passing through. Although there are 1200+ sites, only the small main campground section was open in mid-June when we visited. We arrived on a Friday which means events were happening at the fairgrounds (high school rodeo finals, and stock car race). The friendly caretaker took our money, pointed us to the north-west corner and said there should be a few empty spaces left in that area. We found some, but the campground was nearly full and was a mess with RVs, horse trailers, pickup trucks, ATVs, and more, parked randomly all over. Despite the number of campers there, noise was minimal.
We backed into a site (with our 37' motorhome sticking out into the lane) and had nowhere to put our tow car other than in the empty site next to us (much like everyone else did). The dirt roads had large ruts in them where they met the main campground road, which required some extra care when pulling out. Since the whole campground area is just gravel, found a grassy area around the main fairgrounds parking lot for our dog walks. Verizon worked pretty well, AT&T was slow.
This was an OK spot for an overnight, but we may have actually been more comfortable in the nearby Walmart parking lot for the night. Clearly the RV sites exist primarily to serve the rodeo participants and not travelers, so I understand the shortcomings of the location. I expect if there weren't events happening and the campground was less crowded, it would be a more reasonable spot for an overnight stop. - LifeRebooted

My husband and I visited Rock Springs for 2 days recently (musicians playing at a local bar) and stayed at the Sweetwater Events Complex since it was near where we were working. The complex is located in an industrial park area of Rock Springs, and the RV park section is huge: 1200+ sites, all back-in variety. Though a sports expo was going on that weekend, we needn't have worried about there being available spaces at all. Kay, the caretaker, was very kind about allowing us to park right next to the bath house, and gave us a discount because all we needed was electrical. As other posters have alluded to, the sites (gravel) were all level and the place was kept very clean. We particularly liked that the bath house featured individual toilet/shower facilities instead of one big room where you can see/hear/smell what the person 3 stalls down is doing. We were not aware that the park had wi-fi, but we were pretty busy the entire time, so we didn't need it. The biggest drawbacks to this facility is the lack of shade. I mean there's none whatsoever. No picnic tables or grills, either, but again, we weren't there to barbecue burgers and drink beer, so we didn't miss these amenities. From the looks of things, the majority of campers there were shift workers or expo participants who were gone during the day. Only one looked as though they were there to recreate and they had all the shade, grilling, etc. needs covered. If/when our travels bring us back to Rock Springs, WY, we would happily stay at this RV park again. - K-Bot
May 2017 - $25.00
Very good overnight stay. Basically a gravel area with individual sites fenced out. Utilities are behind each site so you may need long connections. Large sites with enough room to park beside your RV. Individual bathroom/shower facilities are very clean. When arriving, the caretaker came out to meet me and helped select a suitable site. No cable and TV reception was 4 channels on a HD antenna. Good level site. Probably one of the best places in this area. We would stay here anytime we are in the area. - The Mangonel

We are saddened by one fact - we may never find a campsite more beautiful than Firehole Canyon. Neither words nor pictures can describe how gorgeous this place is! We took photo after photo and still did not feel like we captured the magic of the surroundings. While a bit off the beaten path the campground is easy to find, the roads paved and well-marked, the hills and valleys manageable. We were uncertain if our 36' Class A would have difficulty traversing the route but it was no issue at all. We were greeted by the camp host and he was very helpful and welcoming. Our site was reasonably level and nicely equipped with a fire ring and a small shelter which included a picnic table. There is a dump station and potable water at the entrance to the campground. - reofinadv
Jun 2016 - $10.00
A bit of a drive to get to this park but well worth it. Nicely spaced, open sites with sheltered concrete picnic tables. The Camp Host greeted us like family. The views were extraordinary. Water is available though not at your site and there is a dump station. - SantaCruzers
Jun 2015 - $10.00
This park is wonderful! A little out of the way but if you want to relax in a quite area, this is the place. It is beautiful to look at all the way around. I had read that it was hard to find. We didn't have a problem. Just 12 miles off the 1-91 and it is clearly marked. It is windy, perhaps that is just this time of the year. We did not use it, but there outside areas in every camp site that are covered. We saw all kinds of families using their patio areas.
Camp Host was friendly.....the whole experience was wonderful and we would come back again. - Brandl
