Gravel parking lot convenient to highway. Paid for a concrete patio which was nice to get off the gravel. They've tried to fill in low spots with more gravel, but they don't know how to operate a tractor. I didn't even bother trying to put my leveling jacks down because the site was so unlevel. Best part of our stay was going to Green River and driving up Wild Horse Canyon to see the horses (there were dozens). Good for an overnight stay, but way overpriced. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Stopped one night on our way east. Typical KOA to charge too much for what you get. Rate was for 3 adults and a child. Rate is also for just an electric only site which is what I requested. Bathrooms were clean. Store has a limited amount of supplies since it was off-season. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

We were given a Deluxe Patio site in the off season. It had a two-sided privacy fence with fire ring and table on concrete. The weather was not conducive to using either. The sites and roadways are densely packed gravel. We were able to get 2 networks and PBS on our antenna. The staff person was very nice at check-in. The dog loved the K9 park. It was grassy and he had plenty of room to explore. The downfall is the entrance is difficult to find off the frontage road. The park sits behind a complex of possible gas storage tanks. We were far enough off the interstate not to be disturbed by the late night traffic. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pros: Easy access off I-80. Wide, gravel/dirt interior roads and long, level, pull-through sites. Escort to site, cable TV, WiFi, laundry, pool and large fenced dog run with grass. Convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc. Friendly, helpful staff. Cons: Sites are tight, very close to your neighbor; gravel/dirt with no grass in between. When it rains, roads and sites become a muddy mess! They need more gravel and better drainage. If rain is forecast, we would try to stay elsewhere. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This park has turned my husband back to KOA. We visited this park 3 years ago and liked it. It has made some good improvements. I do like that KOAs websites are easy to see what's available and has good campground maps. So important in the process, the woman checking us in was superb! She was helpful, efficient, and enthusiastic. We got one of the new patio sites. They were very untypical KOA. THEY WERE WIDE AND LONG! And they had built privacy fences! Fantastic!! Yes, they are gravel sites and gravel roads, but hey, it's a Rock Springs! Bathrooms immaculate and new fixtures including hand held shower head in the accessible shower. Very good wifi. This is our favorite KOA. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First Impression: Drive past huge oil storage tanks. Safety: No concerns. Access: Ignore GPS. Take exit 99 off I-80 onto Foothill Blvd (north side). Proceed east. Excellent signage. Asphalt access road in good condition. Office: Friendly staff, huge store with food items, milk, frozen meals, soft drinks, snacks, clothing, souvenirs, and an impressive selection of RV equipment items. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. KOA price discount. Facilities: Nice, generously heated pool, no spa, small fitness room, no rec center. Laundry room not inspected. Restrooms/showers very clean and modern, "rain shower" heads, good privacy (score "A"). Propane sales. Playground. Off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter. Few trees, some recently planted. Interior roads are dirt/gravel in good condition but muddy after a good rain; gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. Prevosts won't have problems. Tent area but no yurts or cabins. Sites are nearby, level, dirt/gravel, pull-through and back-in, no landscaping. Premium sites have privacy fencing. Utilities at rear of site with FHU-20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. No patios. Open ground fires not permitted. Good satellite views. Cable TV on select sites. OTA TV found 4 channels. Free Wi-Fi with excellent coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 5 bars; 4G not checked. No recycle bins. Noise: Railroad, no aircraft, no local traffic noise but interstate traffic was very noticeable. Bug Report (mid August): no insects noted. Runners: CG roads ok for running. Yoga: no decent place to put your mat. Conclusion: Score 8-Upscale. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

For being out in the middle of nowhere, Rock Springs, WY, is a rather large, sprawled-out city. Driving around and we were impressed. Applebees, Pizza Hut, and IHOP were the only national restaurants found, lots of local eateries, typical fast food chains, Walmart, Autozone and O'Reillys, Home Depot. Diesel varied from $2.609 to $2.959. Lots of things to do.

It was a good overnight stay. We were escorted to our site. Hookups were a breeze. The spots are gravel and level. Water pressure was 50 psi. CATV was fuzzy and WiFi was unusable. Satellite reception was solid. CG was clean and well managed. The pool was clean and used. Store is well stocked and fairly priced. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Very tight spaces with alternate in and out parking. Because of the parking the river next to us took our sewer line. He parked very close to us and had major dents all over his rv, making us nervous. It also made it very hard to get out of our spot. On the other side was a coach pulling their car. We had to maneuver around this to leave in the morning. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We had stayed at this KOA a few years back when we were full timing. Though it was not our intention to stop here this time, the winds of I-80 proved greater so we contacted them and they found us a spot. First must say I could see a marked difference of improvement in this park since our previous stays. Spaces still a little close (which didn't bother me with the high winds) however the laundry room, rest rooms, showers, etc were very clean. Staff was great. My only real dislike is the parking area is gravel/stone. Some sights have fences between them however ours did not and when that 60+ MPH wind came through it kicked up the rock and took out a back quarter panel window on my HHR (tow), started a crack in my RV windshield, and a couple other hits on the RV and car. Would I stay again...yes, however might see about a slot with a fence. Nice surrounding area. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 3 nights to weather a May snowstorm on I-80 and take care of repairs on our motorhome. The manager/staff members were very helpful with our extra needs - i.e., leaving MH parked while seeking repair, changing sites during our stay. Improvements being made include an exercise center and dog park grass/plantings. The campground is at the base of mountains so all areas are gravel (soupy after a snowfall/melt). We were less than a mile from a truck service center which was very convenient. The campground is easily accessible from I-80. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

I am an idiot. I stayed in this same park a couple of years ago in the summer and noted that the smell from the huge oil tanks adjacent to the park and the dust was horrid. Well, I made an error and came here again, thinking it was another KOA. Entrance road is paved. Rest of the park is gravel and dirt. Previous reviews mentioned mud. It is not mud. It is ooze - light brown, sticky, wet, ooze. And it is everywhere. Many campers were moving from site to site trying to find a site where their jacks could not sink. The upper part of the park is for permanent residents and has lots of gravel on the ground and good drainage; and the drainage is down to the over night sites. I recommend if you come here and there is rain in the forecast, bring rubber boots. The place needs about another 1000 yard of gravel. I would have given this place a 1, but they did put in a nice grass off leash dog run - so you can grow grass here and not just rocks. Note that the utilities are in the middle of the site, so you may need an extension to reach the electric, etc. Cable worked well although it was a wire that was underwater! Bring a flashlight since it is very dark at night. Some noise from the adjacent I-80. Lots of wind. I have again promised to never ever come here again. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a gravel lot which is very typical of this area. The services all worked well and convenient. The roads are easy to navigate lots of space to maneuver a big rig. Spaces between are average.
