We spent three days here to be in an area of the park that we'd not seen before. So glad we made reservations way back in April since even in mid-Sept. the park was crowded and the campground filled most every night. If you're planning a Yellowstone trip, start early! Hint: if you're not getting anywhere with the online reservation system, call the phone number for reservations. A very helpful employee was able to get us spots both here and at Madison. As others have noted, the quality of the sites at Bridge Bay can vary wildly. The campground is on a sloping hillside and as you go up the slope the sites become less level. We had site C165 which was lower down on the hillside, but closer to the access road. Not a real problem for us, since we were out and about most of the day anyway. People do run their generators, but for the most part no one was abusing the privilege. It would be nice though, in such a large campground, to have one loop be generator-free. We purposely asked for a site out in the open (those in loops A, B, C or D) because we have a solar panel and wanted plenty of sun. In Sept., staying cool was not a problem! There are no hook-ups at Bridge Bay, but there are clean restrooms with flush toilets and dishwashing stations. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Bear boxes are available for those who are tent camping. We saw bison in the campground a few times. There is a dump station, but expect to wait your turn! We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Where to start? It's Yellowstone after all! Bridge Bay is a good campground to base out of to see the Hayden Valley with all its bison herds, the Lake area and the Canyon area. Stop at the historic Lake Lodge, get a cup of coffee, sit on the porch in a rocking chair, and enjoy the view of Yellowstone Lake. I would like to give a shout out to the concessionaire staff who were friendly, patient, efficient and informative at both check-in and check-out.

Overall Rating:

This is a great campground in Yellowstone NP. No hookups, but really not needed if you like the outdoors. It was cold at night (in the low 30s) and cool during the days, so no heater or a/c needed. Sites are not level at all and very close together. Bring a lot of wood or you may not be able to even get level. We were here on Memorial Day weekend and there were a lot of other people. Several camped in tents, but sites were very wet as May is the rainy season and snow is melting. Site A10 and A9 share a pull-thru which was quite a dance to get into. Our friends were in A9, so we made it work. If it had been a stranger it would have been awful. We had a bison in our campsite a few times and we loved it. A lot of hiking trails are closed until June due to bear activity and snow melt, but still a lot to see. You're in Yellowstone! We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Did not get to spend much time in this campground due to delays, but easy to pull in (c-shaped pull-throughs), night sky was glorious. No hook-ups, typical of NP campgrounds, but did not miss them. If you are not hard sided, use the bear boxes. We saw a bison in camp! We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is near Lake Yellowstone, a quick drive to Lake Yellowstone Hotel (you can actually walk two miles along the lake). Near to Fishing Bridge where there is a dump station, laundry and pay showers but without all the crowds of Fishing Bridge.

Dry camping only... we were there in our 40' coach. They can accommodate them in several pull outs but you must be a bit creative to shoehorn in and have room for your toad. But it works.. must keep all wheels on pavement. We had a bison in the camp site everyday plus an elk several times. Mr B stays there everyday, all day. Have lots of wood or something as it is very unlevel. You'll need to raise the low sides. Also can can go against the arrow pattern with out. Permission to get your door on the correct side, if you want. We did.. This is much better than Fishing Bridge if you don't mind dry camplin. There is a dump station, small store at the marina. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

YNP. You know why you are there. BBis right in the middle so easy to drive most anywhere. Half hour between each major point. Yellowstone hotel for dinner, very good. Get firewood from marina store. It's dryer than at campground. Take the 1-hour boat trip on the lake. $18 adults and worth it

Excellent staff! Will work with you to help with your travel wishes and plans. Overall NPS staff are mostly retirees and absolutely love their job! This park offers a marina too where you can rent boats and take a lake tour. CG is quiet and conveniently located to the Lake area and Fishing Bridge CG. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Many sites are on the hill side and not very level. I could not level my RV with the tires still on the ground. Lower sites are much better. Roads and sites are paved, some trees. Areas between sites are just field. Convenient location for visiting the Lake areas of the park though. No TV or wi-fi, but that's to be expected in a National Park Campground. Cell service was available, but weak.

Good location for visiting the Western and Lake area of the park though. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Visit the Lake and Canyon areas easily from here. Try to get one of the lower sites. Up the hill, very few are close to level.

We were disappointed and will not stay here again. Noisy generators running from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This large window of time for generator use is unnecessary and significantly detracts from the experience. Generator noise levels requirements are not monitored nor enforced. The campground was very smoky because everyone was using wet wood. Bottom line: a very noisy, smoky experience...we left early. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Interior roads narrow with low hanging branches some open sites, some in the trees.
Our site in A loop was a pull through long enough for our 29' class c with dolly & toad, although we had to unhook the dolly & reposition everything in order to fit onto the pad.
Bathrooms were clean, but no showers, or other hookups, dump station & water fill available. Good location to view east side of the park.
Rate reflects Senior Pass. We would stay here again. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

We were a bit disappointed with this facility. The sites are very small and not level!!! We had to move to another site because we exhausted all our levelers and still couldn't open the slide. Fortunately we got there in mid afternoon and they were willing to assign us another space as we were staying four nights. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We have a small 24' motor home and typically don't tow...but we rented a car in Cody (just East of the East Gate) and returned to Jackson (South of the Grand Teton) and we are so glad we did. As advertised the crowds in Yellowstone are crazy this summer. Having a car, just made it easier. Amazed by the size of the park!!!!

Stayed in a 25 foot motorhome in the H section and my comments are based on this only. Bathhouses were clean with toilet, sink, and a great stick your hands in the slot hand blower dryer. The CG is on a slope with several loops and tarmac paved roads and sites. Sites are varied back end singles and double, and by the road pull throughs. Only a rare few are level. Most are mildly to badly un-level front to back and side ways. Many are very short. There were all sorts of leveling device attempts by campers trying to level their campers. Many campers had tents and canopies beside the paved sites. There were several non threaded faucets in the CG by the bathhouses. The main attraction for this CG is of course Yellowstone itself. So I rate this CG as only average for its own features. We actually were by luck assigned to an only sightly un-level site. This H section is heavily wooded and beautiful as a woodland. If there were the money to redo the CG, bulldozing new level and adequately sized sites would really make this a nice CG. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects senior discount. This is a nice base from which to explore the central part of Yellowstone National Park. The sites are level and reasonably spaced. We had plenty of room for our small truck camper, but big rigs had trouble with some of the sites, even pull-throughs. I watched one guy spend three hours getting his fifth wheel parked the way he wanted it. The restrooms are modern and clean. Camp hosts are very helpful. To shower, you have to go over to the RV park at Fishing Bridge. Lots of showers there and they are clean. The national park is the big attraction, of course, and it's magnificent. It's so large that, as others have said, we would stay in several different campgrounds if we came again. We found this campground to be a bit noisy. The biggest negative: One day while we were out exploring in the camper, someone took the steps and doormat we had left behind at the campsite. Fortunately, we took our camp chairs with us. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Truck Camper.

Typical National Park camping so we know what to expect and there were no disappointments. It appears pretty rough terrain for tents with no designated tent pads. So for anyone tenting, depending on your site, it could be a pretty bumpy and unlevel sleep. This is one of the few reservable campgrounds in the park so it's easily overlooked for tenters. Rate reflects senior NP pass. Sites are Very tight for RV. 30 foot RV really didn't fit and had to back in to site from it's exit point. I could not make the 'turn' of the pull-through. Site was very unlevel as well. Really set up more for tents. I agree with previous post. Should camp at each 'area' of this vast place and see the sites in that 'area' then move to another campsite. Get reservations when possible then cross your fingers on first-come sites. Of course what you are here for is the scenery -- Priceless ! We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here 4 nights in a tent. It goes without saying that it is in a beautiful location. It's on the west side of the park near the lake and the boat launch. There is a small store right across the street that opens at 9 AM where you can pick up a few food items or coffee and other things. Pay showers ($3.50 plus tax) are available at Fishing Bridge RV Campground 4 miles up the road. There is a larger general store with groceries and cafeteria style dining there that opens at 7:30 AM. The downsides: no hot water or heat in the bathroom. I don't quite understand why the full hookup park has showers and hot water but where they allow tents there isn't even hot water. In fact, the woman's bathroom faucets don't even stay on without holding them on. My husband said the man's bathroom did stay on. We were there early in the season and it got down to 28 degrees at night. Maybe during the height of the season this doesn't make much difference. As another reviewer stated I would not stay the entire trip in one campground again. It's hard to make a person understand how big this park is and it takes a lot of time to travel from sight to sight. It makes more sense to move from camp to camp and avoid backtracking a few hours drive to get back to your home site. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Tent.

Good location in the park. Friendly staff. Pay showers 4 miles away is the only real negative. Next time we would not stay here for 5 nights. We would move around the park because it is huge and takes a long time to get from point to point. We camped at Bridge Bay Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.
