Fishing Bridge campground always gets a bad rap: roads are rutted, sites are close, price is high are the major complaints. Come on, people, you're right in the middle of a national park. Location, location, location. You're 'close' to everything. (Well, 'close' is a relative term Yellowstone is so big that you'll spend time driving no matter where you go. But it's much closer than staying outside the park. Some friends of ours stayed outside the park and told us they got tired always driving into the park) We have been here before and will return because the location is so good. The people at the main desk were friendly, you are close to a small diner with ice cream, a small grocery in with a large gift store, a gas station and a Park Ranger area. There are some trails nearby. There is road construction this year and the campground will be closed next year for improvements. I'm looking forward to staying again. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

This is the only option within Yellowstone National Park for large units with full hookups. The campground is now closed until 2020 because they are doing a much needed full renovation. Apparently, they are adding some pull through sites and updating the entire facility. It will be a great place to stay once it reopens. Fairly convenient location for access to West Thumb, Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful, Grand Canyon and Hayden Valley. The best general store for groceries is in the Grand Canyon visitor center. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Rated the value high only because it's the only rv park with full hookup. We were in the last loop which was way far from the laundry and showers. Roads are dirt with lots of ruts. Not sure I'd stay here again. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

This was a good stay as it is the only full hook up sites in Yellowstone and it is YELLOWSTONE! They are improving the campground and it will be closed until 2020. Would love to go back and see what they do? We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is so much to see in Yellowstone! Plan your days and give lots of extra time for traffic back ups. We got stuck for over 2 hours as people parked in the road to take pictures of bears eating a dead bison. As they say bring your binoculars and lots of patience.

NOTE: Fishing Bridge RV Park will be closed during the 2019 camping season for an overhaul; therefore, this review may or may not reflect what you will find. Fishing Bridge gets a bad rap among Yellowstone's campgrounds, but we liked it. Yes, you are packed in like sardines, but the sites are staggered so as to not be impinging on each other, and honestly, how much time will you spend at your campsite? The location is great - in the heart of the park - there's good access to all points. The staff was friendly and efficient. Unlike Grant, they didn't make us wait until check-in time even if our site was already available. The comfort stations are clean. Our loop (Loop B) had paved roads and the sites were fairly level. We had no AT&T cell service. Now the bad: the loops that are not paved are in bad shape. The road into the campground is in bad shape, largely due to the road construction. If there was rain, it would be a muddy mess. Fortunately, it stayed dry while we were there. I hope that the planned renovation will improve the road situation, and I look forward to seeing the new and improved campground. Because this is in an area bears frequent, this is a hard-shell unit campground only. There is a very nice visitors center, general store, gas station and auto repair business at Fishing Bridge. You are also near Lake Hotel, which is the oldest currently-operating hotel in the park and which has a great dining room (reservations usually required during season). We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Only campground inside Yellowstone with any hookups. Only hardsided RVs allowed in this campground. Sites reserveable and a must. No picnic tables or campfire rings due to being in grizzly bear territory. All garbage to be placed into heavy duty park trash receptacles. Allow extra driving time between major areas of the park as it is large, with only two lane, paved roads. The Grand Loop is circular and takes you through some very scenic sections. Any time there is a slow down or traffic jam, be on the watch for wildlife near or on the road, but be safe and heed park rules of keeping 25 yards away from bison and 100 yards away from bears, stay in your vehicle. It is a wildlife preserve as much as it is an incredible national park. We always enjoy ranger-led hikes and walks here as they will take of bear spray usage if needed. We love the diversity of natural features and seeing large, wild mammals, such as bison and elk. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground will be totally closed in 2019 for renovations but the Fishing Bridge Visitors Center will be open. Leashed dogs allowed on paved pathway from campground office to Fishing Bridge General store. About half mile walk along beach on Lake Yellowstone, behind Fishing Bridge Visitors Center, to the headwaters, start, of the Yellowstone River. Road to, and Fishing Bridge itself, was closd to traffic during our visit.

The RV sites themselves are not very appealing, but you are here to see Yellowstone aren't you? I had to park our truck across the front of our site, but this was not inconvenient. It was a bit tough backing In due to adjacent trees. Fortunately, the parallel loops in the cg are each separated by wide stands of tall trees which greatly improve the overall feel of the cg. There were also plenty of staff on hand and I felt the cg was well run. The laundry room was satisfactory, but busy at times. The nearby Fishing Bridge General store had a basic inventory of fresh food, snacks and drinks, lots of gifts and clothing, and a diner. One way traffic to/from Fishing Bridge CG due to major road and building construction was a pain, but I'm sure it will be worth it when they are done. I would stay here again to visit Yellowstone partly because other RV camping options are are too far away. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go see Yellowstone!! Have dinner at the Lake Hotel dining room, but make reservations well before your stay. The bison filet, and the elk chops, were great by the way. I found the free app, "NPS Yellowstone National Park", to be very handy for advance planning, and used it often during our 9 day stay.

Sites are level and fairly close. This is the only other full hookup campground within 50 miles so you pay for it, but then again you are in Yellowstone. If you don't get a 40' site you may have a hard time getting a larger rig into the 35' sites, we were 36' and had just enough room for the motorhome. Yes, the sites are close, some shade, dusty, no cell service, no TV signal and no WiFi, but if you get out and enjoy Yellowstone you will not miss those things. Our services worked great but make sure you have a water regulator cause the pressure can be high at times. No fire rings or picnic tables here, no room for them. The showers, restrooms and laundry facilities are spotless despite the large number of campers using them, my hats off to the employees on doing such a great job. This campground is closed for 2019 due to some renovations for larger rigs and more restrooms and laundry facilities, and a larger check-in area. We would stay here again. No discounts offered. Site was back-in; 50 amp; FHU; gravel site with no picnic table. The sites are small and very close together. The road and hookups in the B loop were recently replaced, but the entry road and roads in other loops were in terrible condition. We had very weak Verizon internet reception. We had good DishTV satellite reception. Since it is the only FHU campground in Yellowstone, we would stay here again. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Fishing Bridge was our home base for a week in Yellowstone National Park. We had a wonderful time. The people who worked at the RV Park were nice and friendly which is amazing considering the volume of people who pass through. We used the showers and laundry facilities and were pleased. Tips for other Campers:

Tow vehicles have to be disconnected. Each site gets 2 showers per night and you have to pay for additional showers at $5 a piece. Showers did not have time limits. Overall, it was a great place to stay while we explored the whole park. Would stay there again. The Park Rangers were amazing. One made sure we got back to our site safely when we got caught out on our bikes in a thunder storm.

This RV park will be closed during the 2019 season so the relevance of this review may be questionable. This is the only full service RV campground in Yellowstone. Basically there are 2 sections: loops A-D have paved roads with gravel sites and loops E-G have dirt roads with paved sites. If you ever wondered what driving on the surface of the moon might be like, drive through loops E to G. Sites are VERY close together such that you likely will want to keep your shades drawn lest you be on display for your neighbors on either side. Given how close the sites are, that fires are not permitted is a good thing. Also, there are no picnic tables, all you get is a full service site. Showers (2/day/unit) and laundry ($2.75 for a 30 minute wash, $2/30 minute dry) are located in the registration building. Full recycling is available. Across from the Visitor Centre are a gas station that sells diesel, propane by the pound, an RV and auto repair centre, and general store. The store sells mostly souvenirs but there is a grocery section that has a limited supply of produce, frozen meats, dairy & bakery products, packaged foods, wine, beer, and liquor. Tuesday is the delivery day for new groceries. The grocery selection at Fishing Bridge is not as large as at Canyon Village or Old Faithful, but larger than at Bridge Bay. WiFi is not available at Fishing Bridge but is available at Lake Lodge (about 3 miles away), Canyon Lodge, Grant Village, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Old Faithful for a fee ($5/hr, $12/24 hr, $25/72 hr). We drove through a few of the other campgrounds (Bridge Bay, Grant Village, Canyon Village) all of which are unserviced but have fire rings, picnic tables and offer better spacing than at Fishing Bridge. While some sites in these campgrounds can accommodate larger rigs, generally they are better suited for smaller rigs. If you can fit and are able to boondock, these campgrounds offer more of a true camping experience than at Fishing Bridge. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

As others have mentioned--if you use this campground, you could likely damage your rig due to the roads. They have been left, and from the information we could obtain, they will not even grade them because the park will be updated next year. It is a teeth jarring experience to drive past the first four loops. Because of the size of the spaces, it is difficult to maneuver your rig to make the hook-ups accessible. It is the only campground in Yellowstone with hook-ups, and the only one that does not give any type of discount for a Golden Age pass. Overpriced for what you get, but no other choices available. Convient to park attractions; but to get to any of them, you have to drive the dreaded road into and out of the park every time. It is difficult to understand the lack of maintenance. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

If you want a campsite in Yellowstone with full hookups, this is the only option available. With only one exception, it's a good place to stay. However, that exception is the very poor roads. If you go there, ask for a site in Loops A, B, C, or D because they have hard surfaced roads. The other loops (E, F, and G) have dirt roads that are full of potholes and are difficult to drive on. All sites are back-i and are very tight if you have a large unit. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. The campground is close to available services. All in all, being located in the park is worth the effort to stay in this campground. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

We had adequate space between the RV's and our main view was of the trees all around. The staff were very friendly but it's a busy place as they are the only place in the park that can accommodate big rigs. The laundry was busy the two times I tried to use the facility. But, the park is close to Hayden valley and we enjoyed exploring the area from here. We also stayed north of the park as well as in the southern area so we could use each as a base from which to see that portion of the park. The only positive things about this campground are the central location, and the full hook ups. The price is expensive. The shower house is very far from 90% of the campsites. I guess this discourages use. Really, we would have needed to drive there, then who knows if there would have been a shower available. The roads are dirt with enormous pot holes. The sites are so close together you have to keep your shades down for any privacy. You have to park your vehicle next to your trailer to fit both into the site. Its like camping in a dirt parking lot. Just horrible. Luckily you aren't at Yellowstone for the camping experience, but for touring the park. I'd never stay here again.
