Had a pull through gravel site with a great view of the lake in one direction and the surrounding mountains in the other direction. Payment is cash or Travelers Checks only. My site had 15 amp and water. There was a nice picnic table at the site. The place is so beautiful, it is a great place to stop. WI-FI on the deck was slow but adequate for emails. No AT&T service. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The park has a miniature golf course, a horse shoe pit and a tremendous amount of beach on the lake. The night we were there, there was live music on the deck. Bring binoculars to watch for Dall sheep on the mountains across the road from the park.

We were excited to stay here. They spend more time telling you what you can't do than what you can do. The owner complained because he didn't like where the water inlet is on my trailer to fill the tank. The electrical hookup is at the front of the back-in spaces along the lake, just plain dumb. I have yet to see a trailer with the electrical hookup at the front. Even with the provided extension cord, by the time I got our trailer backed in so the truck was out of the way, I still couldn't plug in my power cord. I was able to get a longer extension cord from them. The real insult to everyone there is when the owners sit in their hot tub with the large "PRIVATE" signs on the fence around it. Wow. And it is mostly just a gravel parking lot, like so many other places along the Alaska Highway, however there are some quite nice sites at the far ends of the campground but they don't seem to put anyone in them. We won't stay here again. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed at this campground 6 times during trips to Alaska and it remains our favorite along the Alcan highway. Pulling into the entry is just like coming home for us. It sits on Kluane Lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The owners, MaryAnn and Glen, live at the park and maintain it just like they would maintain their yard. It is filled with trees, shrubs and flowers. The sites are level and spacious. There are a few downsides--Since they are literally in the middle of nowhere, they generate their own power by generators and you are limited to 15 amps. Even in July, you will not need an air conditioner and as long as you switch your water heater to propane and use your heat-generating appliances one at a time, 15 amp limitation is not an issue. Wi-Fi is only available on the deck, and there are no sewer hook-ups (dump station at the park). We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

As we drove into the campground we were struck with the beauty of the camp grounds and its environment. The owners have lived on this site since the 70's, developing it into a A+++ campground, fully landscaped, over-looking Kluane Lake and the surrounding mountains. There is only 15 amp service and no sewer connections (they have a dump station available) but it is certainly doable. The owners are rightly fully proud of their work. It is soothing to the soul to stay here. They have planted native flowers and placed bird houses, cairns, and benches for the guests enjoyment. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a perfect overnight (or longer) stop on the Alaskan Highway 16 miles south of Destruction Bay. There is no grocery store or other convenience close by. The lake, mountains, and landscaping are easy to enjoy with provisions in your own camp.

We have stayed here twice, once in 2013 and again this year. The park is beside Kluane Lake and is the most beautiful spot you can find on the Alaska Highway. They prefer cash, they have good wifi if you go on their deck, and has so much beach to walk, views to see...it's a must stop. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Best campground on our trip to Alaska. Hosts were totally accommodating, facilities were beautiful. It's a remote camp along Kluane Lake but it was the nicest night of our trip. We had a primitive no hookup site with our door opening toward and overlooking the lake. Hoping to stay again for a night or two on the way back home. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the nicest RV parks in the Yukon. Managers are incredibly friendly and accomodating. The grounds and showers are immaculate. The views breathtaking. This park, however does require some concessions from it's guests. Electric is 110-15amp so care needs to be taken when running devices. Sites do not have sewer hookup but there is a dump station. Due to an active bear population, there are no trash bins in the park. Trash must be taken off site to one of several places. There is no TV but the office has a large selection of DVD's to borrow. Wi-Fi is fair-good from the patio. There is no laundryroom. Sites are all gravel, level and spacious. All sites have an incredible view of Kluane Lake. There are a few other parks in Destruction Bay, but none are nearly as nice as Cottonwood. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice campground in an absolutely beautiful spot along the shore of Destruction Bay. The owners are clearly proud of their park as the grounds are spotless. We had an electric only site and only 15 amp service but since the weather was cool we really didn't require AC at all other than to make coffee in the morning. (easier than the percolator) There was WiFi available but it was quite slow even with my booster, but considering where we were... All in all a great place to stay. We would have stayed longer had we not been anxious to get on to Alaska. We will stay here again. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this wonderful RV Park twice, once on the way up to Alaska, and once again on the way back down. I don't think there is a more beautiful setting for a campground anywhere. The park is on the shores of Kluane Lake, and the views are breathtaking in all directions. The owners are very nice, and the place is immaculate. There is no cell service here, but they do have wi-fi at the office, and there is a nice deck you can sit on if you need to use it. The laundry was out of order when we were there, but the restrooms are clean and the showers are hot. There are a lot of grizzly bears in the area, although we didn't see any while we were there. The second time we stayed there we pulled in relatively late, around 9:00 PM. We just happened to catch the owner riding around on his ATV. He offered us the best spot in the park, a dry camping site that pulled right up to the beach with no one else around. We were in heaven. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wow! This was a lovely RV park, lovingly cared for and maintained. Grass and flowers graced the entire property. Our site #28 was right on the edge of the beautiful Kluane Lake, a huge undeveloped area of the Yukon. Absolutely gorgeous. Excellent wifi reception, fairly roomy sites and quiet. They only have 15 amp power but we managed just fine. It was hard to leave and we plan on staying there again on our way home from Alaska. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Although this park offers a nice view of Kluane Lake it is expensive for what you get. 15 amp electric, water, and Wi-Fi, but only at the office area and it seems only on when the office is open. I would not stay here again mainly due to the price. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are planning to take this route to or from Alaska I would reconsider. The road from Destruction Bay to Beaver Creek is a mess and that's being nice. It took us 3.5 hours to drive 99 miles due to the road condition. The people in Beaver Creek told us it the worst they've seen that road in 50 years. I definitely will not be going back that way. other RVers have told me the road from Dawson City to Chicken is a better road to take.

Thoroughly enjoyed this gem along Kluane Lake. Many personalized touches by the owners make this a special place. Grizzlies known to frequent area so take care. Washroom were excellent as was the fresh water quality. You have to pack out your trash which is no big deal. Would certainly return to this campground again. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

35$ for a dry site sounds like an insanity, but we did it for the million dollar views and were glad to have made the decision.
Not all sites are worth that money in our opinion. The hookup sites are side by side, offering no privacy at all. Most of the dry sites are right on the lake, some are large back ins and, like ours, separated by shrubs from the next site. Better walk around and have a look first before signing in for a particular site. The park is right off the highway but there is very little traffic anyway and none at night making for a good sleep.
WiFi only worked around the office. The restrooms and the showers both were immaculate. Dump station on the way out. Water fill spigot next to the office.
We will stay again but only when the weather allows to enjoy the gorgeous views. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

The advice to take the road from Dawson City to Chicken to avoid the Beaver Creek construction zone instead is questionable. We found the top of the world highway between the boarder and Dawson to be an excellent dirt road, but the 50 km gravel section between Chicken and Wade Junction was much worse than the construction zone in the Beaver Creek area. The section Chicken - Tok is in no better shape than the highway in the Beaver Creek area.

This continues to be one of our favorite campgrounds. The grounds are full of trees and flowers. The sites are gravel but level. Because electricity is provided by park generators, you are limited to 15 amp service, but that was not a problem for us. You are asked to use only propane water heaters and and no electric space heaters. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Internet service is only available outside the main office. Be sure and bring everything you may need here--there is no place to purchase anything nearby. Because it is a bear sanctuary, there are no trash dumpsters. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Clean, pretty park right on Kluane Lake - great views of lake and mountains. Good gravel roads and fairly level, gravel sites with trees and shrubs in between. Water and 15-amp electric service (they're on a generator); and you must haul out your own garbage. Good pet-walk area. As long as we don't need to run the A/C, we would stay here again. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
