It functions for a short stop. Convenient walk to the Sign Post Forest. Groceries across the street. It is what it is... a hookup for the journey. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sign Post Forest - it's huge so allow time if you like to browse the actual signs. Wye Lake across the street - the boardwalk across the marshy sections does sink into the water when you walk so wear water proof footware. The grocery store has a reasonable selection.

Overall Rating:

Huge level gravel parking area, lots of easy back-ins and pull-throughs. Not fancy, but works perfectly fine. Our pull-through had 30 amp/water/sewer, and cable that connected to the park's satellite TV channels. Directly across the street from a grocery and the Northern Lights Centre, and one block from Signpost Forest. A tent beside the office offered barbeque and other foods from 1600-2000. DIY RV wash in the lower section; pay laundry and free showers next to the office. Recycles plastic bottles, glass bottles, and cans. Staff very friendly and helpful. First cell phone service since Fort Nelson. Free WiFi was available in the office, good for one hour's internet access; free internet access was available on the Northern Lights Centre computers, maximum of 20 minutes use. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not miss the 360 degree show in the Northern Lights Centre. Unless you make a winter trip to Yellowknife, NWT, this is the closest to the actual Aurora Borealis you'll see.

In American money our site would be $42. Downtown RV Park is basically two gravel parking lots with narrow, but long sites (16 x 75). It has pull thru sites down the middle and back-in sites around 2 sides. The sites are level, and even though it rained, it is not muddy! There are five 50 amp sites with full hook-up, and the rest are 30 amp full hook-up sites. The utilities are on a post between the sites, and they worked well. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Between 4-8 pm, the park has a tent where they sell fish and chips, hamburgers, French fries, and onion rings, etc. The park is very close to a supermarket and within easy walking distance to the Sign Post Forest and the Northern Lights Centre. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A bare dirt lot with very tightly-packed sites. Adjacent RVs with slide-outs leave barely enough room to walk between them, so the picnic tables (at some sites) are unusable. Your neighbor's sewer connection is at your front door. Because sites are dirt, it is dusty when the wind blows and muddy with snow-melt. Site was level. Wifi works only at the office. Verizon good. The main attraction here is location... short walk to town park, to Northern Lights planetarium, and signpost forest. We would try another park if we came through here again, but it was acceptable for a quick overnight stay on the Alaska Highway. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Like many parks on the Al-Can, just a parking lot. But previous parks have at least had a nice view, some space and friendly owners. Park spaces here are very narrow and we could not extend our awning. While it's within walking distance of the Watson Lake Sign Post, not much else to recommend it. One positive: the best cable on the Al-Can so far.

Would not stay here again Not a good value. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yes, it's a gravel parking lot and the spaces are tight. Welcome to the Alaska Highway. You'll see a lot more of these gravel lots in the Yukon and Alaska. We called ahead for a reservation, and stayed two nights, so I guess that's why we got a space by the office with a neighbor on only one side. This place is an easy walk to the Signpost Forest (a must see), plus a grocery store. There's also a gym near the Signpost Forest. All utilities were fine. One negative, not controllable by the park, were there were some really creepy folks that hung out in front of the grocery store. Regarding the owner, the subject of many reviews here, I found him friendly and helpful. Look people, this guy has to deal with many people who are on the Alaska Highway for the first time, and they don't realize that most of the RV parks ahead of them are gravel lots in some way, shape or form. I would stay at this park again - it's fine. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

Parking lot, close together, no problem with TC Good thing about this park is it has full hookups and near signpost forest and grocery store. Bad thing is that it is just a dusty gravel parking lot. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Basically a large dirt lot. I had a pull through dirt site that needed a 1 inch board to level side to side. RV's are jammed next to each other. Free 1 hour WI-FI did not work. Office staff blamed my Apple computer. Could not open awning without hitting trailer next to me. One wooden post divides each site. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is basically just a gravel parking lot. The sites are VERY close together, we didn't even need to use our walkie talkies to talk to our friends, we just talked out the window! It is in a great location though, a short walk to the Signpost Forest and the Northern Lights Center was right across the street. The laundry room was clean. Tips for other Campers:

The Northern Lights Center was very interesting, the 360 movie was well worth the minimal price of admission. The Signpost Forest was fun to visit, wish we would have brought a sign from our home town! There is a very nice grocery store right outside the park entrance, very well stocked and sold fresh baked breads and pastries.

This park is terrible. Just a big parking lot filled with gravel and extremely dusty especially on a windy day. The lady in the office (not sure if it was the owner) was not pleasant. Was told they had 50amp, but never informed us they only had 3 spots which had 50 amp. In the long pull thru's each spot is separated by a pylon with services hooked up to it were so close together that it was difficult to put out all our slides. Not many RV parks in town, so it's slim pickings!!!!.. Rather BoonDock!! We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight on our way to Whitehorse. The park is basically a parking lot. Sites were tight but easy in and out. The owner is GREAT! He told me that every site is full hookups with Cable and wifi included. He is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He's a funny guy to talk to. He came around after we setup to check that everything was okay. You get 2 hours a day free wifi. I got a good signal in the 5th wheel. I have no problem with that, we checked email and a bit of other stuff. The park is close to the signpost forest and the northern lights center. So even though this park is a gravel parking lot, it was well worth the price and the stay. We will stay there again. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Downtown RV on our way to Alaska and again on our way back to the Lower 48. As other reviewers stated, the campground is convenient to the Sign Forest and a very nice grocery store. There are also a couple of restaurants across the street. WiFi is not usable unless you go the the office porch. The campground itself is one big parking lot which is quite typical for commercial campgrounds in the Yukon. One nice amenity is the coin operated RV/truck wash on the site... very much needed after traveling the Alaska and Yukon roads under construction. Sites are very close together but long enough that we did not have to unhook from our tow vehicle. Don't expect a "nice" RV park, but a good place to stop to get supplies or enjoy a home cooked type dinner or breakfast across the street. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

No one was in the office when we arrived in the early evening hours. We filled out a form and put that and the payment in a drop box. Camping area is a gravel parking lot. However, it is a clean parking lot with 20-30 amp electric hook-ups. No trees. Wi-Fi signal is nonexistent...on and off again. Very sporadic. Water faucet was there, but turned off for winter. Good for a one night stay if self-contained. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Motorhome.
