Like all Yukon Government campgrounds, the Watson Lake Campground is great value at $12 Canadian including firewood. Like most of them, sites are large, well-spaced, and everything is very clean. The only downsides to the Watson Lake Campground are the 8-kilometer drive off the Alaska Highway on a sometimes rough gravel road, and the pretty limited lake access. Some "exit" signs would make it easier to get out of the maze of roads. The location does make it a very good location to explore Watson Lake from. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Motorhome.

The Yukon government campgrounds we have been in are excellent and this park is no exception. The sites are huge and well-spaced. You may know you have neighbors, but you can't see them. There is water available, but it is suggested that you boil it for 10 minutes before using it for cooking, etc. All sites have a picnic table, fire ring and free firewood. There are plenty of trees for shade, but there is also a place to sit in the sun if you'd prefer. We had cell phone (Canada Bell) but no WiFi (Verizon), radio or television. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Fifth Wheel.

Our first experience with a Yukon Government campground. If only all campgrounds could be like this. A few kilometers from the highway on an excellent dirt road this campground is nestled into the woods. Sites are fine gravel and well spaced so you don't see any neighbors. Also the site was clean, level and equipped with picnic table and fire pit. Firewood is free, you just have to go grab and split it. Pit toilets were clean. Water is available by hand water pump but should be boiled before use. A short walk leads to the lake. Very quiet place. We look forward to staying again. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Truck Camper.

This is a beautiful campground with lots of trees which gives each site privacy. Site was nice and level with lots of room around the fire pit and picnic table. The campground has two separate loops and access to a boat launch. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

The campground is well off the highway - 4 miles of dirt road. Sites are in the trees and nicely separated. Pull throughs are long enough for motorhome and tow vehicle. Easy payment box system. Park is very clean and well maintained. Lake with boat launch is near campground loops. Town is close by. Would stay here again. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a great price, but you’re basically camping dry. Still, it’s a beautiful location, and the campsites are very private. You’re far from the main road, so there’s no road noise, but it’s a long, slow drive to your campsite on a gravel road. You can dump for free at Wye Lake, a municipal park a few miles away. Wye Lake also has potable water if you need to fill your tank ahead of time. The Watson Lake campground has water, but it needs to be boiled for 5-15 minutes (according to different signs). They had a mix of back-in and pull-through slots. The pull-throughs were arcs off the main trail, but there was plenty of room for our longish truck and travel trailer, and we could easily put out our slides. You pay for your spot by filling out a form and putting money through a slot, so we never really interacted with the park rangers. We got most of our information about the park from the Watson Lake Visitor Center (next to the Signpost Forest). We would happily stay here again. We camped at Watson Lake Campground (Yukon Government) in a Travel Trailer.
