When we arrived to check-in the receptionist could NOT find our reservation. We were given an option, parallel park along the lower concrete wall. I walked the area and those sites were way too short of our fifth wheel. After a lengthy discussion, we were sent up the hill, into the woods, where we found the site indicated, a back-in with trees all around. the road is narrow but passable, the site was plenty wide and deep for our fifth wheel. Once we were set up the office called and said they "found our reservation." We chose NOT to move back down the hill and into the congestion there. We won't come back here. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed up on the hill in a heavily treed level site. There was no road noise up there. The roads are a little confusing and have a few potholes but not real bad. I was told I had a pull thru site (the only one I saw was next to us and was a pull thru). Actually my site was designed to pull into so your windshield would be facing the woods. I backed in so the water, cable and electric hookups were on our right side. There is a dump station up here but these sites are not sewer sites. The water pressure was low. The power was low under 110V running an electric heater). The park has a washing pad for cleaning your RV or toad. Also they have an oil change pad where you can change your own oil or have them do it for you.

Also a pet washing station as well as a laundromat. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

Yukon Wildlife Preserve & Game Farm, World's Largest Weather Vane, Yukon Transportation Museum, S.S. Klondike and the Whitehorse Dam and Fish Ladder plus more we didn't have time for. There is a WalMart, Canadian Tire, Canadian Superstore and Savon Foods in town.

Overall Rating:

This was one of the most unattractive and unpleasant experiences we had camping on the Al-Can with our Alaska tour group. We were so dissatisfied we left a day early and stayed elsewhere on our own dime. It is one big gravel parking lot with lots of highway noise. No privacy and no room between spaces. We were parked next to a dirt cliff facing our drivers side windows and it was a little scary, esp. when it rained and you could hear dirt and rocks falling down the cliff. The laundry was not working and it seemed like it had been that way for while. The front staff was totally unhelpful and disinterested. The showers were dated and required a token, which we got at least for free as part of our tour, not sure how it is otherwise. If you have another choice, I would recommend staying elsewhere unless it was late at night and you plan to leave early in the AM. It is about 5 miles or so outside of the town of Whitehorse. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Whitehorse is very busy during the week, lots of traffic and construction. Get a free visitor's parking pass at the visitor's center to avoid having to feed the meter constantly.

A very basic parking lot for the journey. There were some options such as an RV wash and a dog wash that we didn't use. The laundry was broken. You are very close to the highway although noise dropped in the evening. Fairly priced for what was provided. Fueling stations available with a slight discount. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

Yukon Wildlife Preserve - allocate 2-3 hours plus drive time. Takhini Hot Springs - a dated facility, but good to soak after walking 3 hrs at the Preserve. City of Whitehorse - one or 2 days to explore.

This "park" is really a large, gravel parking area with hook-ups. There is no landscaping, just gravel and hook up postings. However, it is convenient(right on the side of the highway) coming out of Whitehorse. Staff was very friendly and the park store is well stocked with rv supplies and souvenirs. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Best tip here is that customers of the park receive a 3 cents per liter discount on fuel. That makes fuel here the cheapest in all of Whitehorse. Easy pump access at entry to park.

With an empty campground, the host put a trailer into the buddy site we were in. They were so close to us, we could not fully open our entrance door(we had to slide out of our motorhome) nor could we open any bay doors to get out soft drinks out of the refrigerator in the basement. You can tell when people running a campground do not care anymore. Laundry room was closed with a plywood door nailed shut. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed up on the 'hill' to get a bit of privacy. The laundromat is not available so one needs to go into town (4-mi) to do that. Wifi is spotty if out of office range and is sloooow. They do discount gas if you purchase from them. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The roads are navigable but the signage for one-way could be more visible as we made a wrong turn and ended up going in the wrong direction simply because we did not "see" the arrow.

Stayed with an RV tour so not sure the price. Very close sites Decent 30 amp power. They have gas, diesel and LP right when you drive in and give a discount. Didn't use it but they have an RV wash. Laundry was broke. WiFi was pretty good, 1 GB free then $2.50 per GB after that. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gravel, all side by side sites. Two huge rallies were here but the park and staff took great care of everyone equally. The rally groups were all the top end class A units and they all fit fine although tight! I heard no complaints and our group of three had none either. Very accommodating staff. Gas, oil change, and rig washing available. Gas is three cents discount if a guest! Price is below town fixed price for both diesel and gas! Sites mostly level! The spaces are a little close. You have no privacy. The laundromat doesn't work. The people in the front office were very nice. The reason I gave a bad mark on cleanliness is because of the sewer. The sewer being above ground makes it very difficult to empty. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The RV park is basically a large gravel parking lot with full hookups. The hookups are every other site so your door side is facing your neighbor's door side with enough space for a picnic table. The nice thing about the park is easy access from the Alaska Highway and most sites appear to be pull-throughs. The laundry was not available when we stayed and the office worker was kind enough to say so before taking our money. It was just an overnight stay for us and because of the rain we didn't even walk to the bath house. I would stay here again overnight as a travel stop, but if I were taking in the sites around Whitehorse, I'd look at another RV park with nicer, more spacious sites. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We actually stayed here twice on our way through Whitehorse, in July and August. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We booked a trip on the White Pass and Yukon RR through the office. Both times we were here we chose a site on the hill in the wooded section and it was one of the better campground experiences we had during our Alaska trip. The wifi doesn't quite reach many of the sites in the wooded area, but there is a community building you can use to access a strong wifi signal. You can also pay a minimal amount for an additional gig of data, which we did on one occasion. We also used the vehicle wash both times we were here, as well as the shower building. Would definitely return. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in a 38' motor home with a tow car. The 1st site they assigned me already had someone in it. So back I went through the narrow road to the office. This sight was against a fence and in order not to be in the road, I had to park nestled up to the fence so that I couldn't open the bay doors to hook up. So, back I went to the office trying hard not to hit any cars sticking out into the road. This time they assigned me to a spot which was supposed to be a pull through. After much backing and filling I finally got into the spot but had no place to park the car. The utilities were on the wrong side of the coach so that electric and water had to run under the coach. While this park says it is big rig friendly, it definitely isn't. The 2d time we had to stay in Whitehorse, we went to the Wal-Mart which has no limit on the length of stay and was a better campsite. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park in which to stay for a night or two, but I wouldn't consider it to be a destination. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the campground offers every service imaginable for RV'ers. (Extremely rare in the Yukon) We stayed for two nights in the lower area. All utilities worked quite well. WiFi signal was strong, but throughput was slow, however it is satellite based, so there you have it. There was some road noise, but I wouldn't call it excessive. A few planes flew overhead, but again, nothing excessive. All in all a very convenient place to spend a couple of days. Whitehorse offers some interesting sites. It is the Capitol of the Yukon an hosts the largest percentage of the population for the entire territory. Worth some exploring. Many caravans stop here, so reservations are recommended. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
