If you enjoy parks in a very natural environment, this is one of interest to you. You can even get to spend a free two nights here, as I did to check it out. Cellphone service is spotty, but if you really have to make a call, you can go by any of the swimming pools and have access. Wi-Fi is available in the Adult Lodge Free, with lots of tables and chairs to sit in to use it. Pool Tables are available, and many friendly Pool players. Tennis Court up the hill, with a Basketball court. 2 large Jaccuzzi's and lot of friendly campers. I've seen a lot of "cliques" in campgrounds, but there are none here. It is close to the border, but we felt safe, as the Border Patrol comes though the campground on a regular basis. There is a well equiped store, we had a slight leak in our grey tank, and found a package of stuff that could repair gas tanks here. It instantly stopped the leak. They allow dogs and cats here, but in my entire stay, never noticed a dog barking but once, for a short time. But, we did hear Coyote's calling in the hills, and it was very enjoyable. Something you do not experience in many campgrounds.

We stayed here as Coast to Coast members, so it was the standard rate. On the way back from IL, when we arrived in Sante Fe NM, we stop for food in the Super Walmart. Talking with someone there, they mentioned what an interesting drive it was down Route 14. It went though old towns, much like they were back in the 1899's, so we decided to take a side trip. The drive was interesting, and slow, so decided to stay the night here. Mainly looking for a place to stay to rest for the night. The Management was very helpful, even though we were late arrivals, we called, and they left a note, and map, etc on a ledge at the store for us. It was a good place to stop for the night, but the site we were in was quite narrow, and on a steep hill. The site we were on was so narrow, RVs with slides on either side of us were so close we felt uncomfortable. On the right where our door is, we had less than 3 feet from the slide. On the right, almost so close when hooking up the elec, water, and sewer it was less than 2 feet away. There were many signs warning of Rattlesnakes, but we did not see any. There were loads of rabbits on both roads in front and back of our RV. We didnt stay long enough to meet many people, but there seemed to be full timers on either side of us. Sites were neat and clean for all full timers we saw. We would stay here in the future, as it looked as if at the bottom of the hill we were on, the campsites were larger. They may have put us on this site, as we were not staying long. Campground was attractive, lots of flowers, bushes, etc and far from the "paved parking lots" which I will not stay in... We want to come back, and spend more time on Route 14 exploring the old mining towns there.

We paid $8 to stay here, because we are members of Coast to Coast. We only intended to here a few days, but so enjoyed the Mineral Spa (about 15 x 25 feet, so stayed longer. Best thing about it, we feel there were benefits from the mineral water, but there is no chemical smell or sulpher smell. The water is changed frequently, so it feels clean in spite of the fact no chlorine is used. If I remember correctly, the water is completely changed about 7 or more times per hour. Many spas are too hot for me, this one is about 104 degrees, so comfortable. Roads are paved, a bit rough in a few places, but no problem for our RV or any we saw. All sites that I saw are back in, but some may be pull through as we didnt look at all of them. The sites are sand, with a cement patio. Our site was smaller than some, probably would hold only a 30' RV, but we chose it for trees. Power, water, sewer connections were conveniently located. There are two nice pool areas. We used the one by the store the most, as it was closer to our site. Close enough to walk in our bare feet. The site was lined with trees on one side, and bushes about 7-8 feet high on the other, so we felt it was very private. Fishing is allowed in the stream, we don't fish, but watched a boy about 14 fishing and he caught three fish while we were watching. Believe it may be stocked, but didn't inquire. We will be coming back here, on our way back home from this trip.
