Nice enough park, great location in town but no traffic noise or issues. Pool is indoors, but it sits under a galvanized roof so it heats up during the day. Nice showers, store has more gifts than groceries. There's a grocery store and a convenience store within a good walk which may explain why they didn't stock much of anything. If you go, demand a shaded site. We got a pull-through in full sun and it was bad. You're at 7000 feet and the sun is intense and it wasn't pleasant to sit outside at all. We used this as a final stop before getting to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, but I wouldn't use it as a base camp for that area, you're too far away, and local construction makes getting to the national parks a real hassle. Descent campground.

This is our favorite KOA. We love the badlands, but what makes this campground unique is the grove of trees it has to offer. Having shade in the badlands is a luxury, and this campground has it. Wonderful, large shady sites, clean pool, friendly staff, clean bathhouses. We even saw some very nice facilities for tent campers. Why stay in the National Park with no shade and exposed to the winds when you have a place like this? WOW! Love it, this was a second stay and we'll be back.

We usually use KOAs on our travels, but we were disappointed in this one. It's location is not good for wind and weather. It sits on the east end of Hot Springs on a high plain at the base of the hills, and the wind constantly blew through the campground while we were there. It was very hard to find level sites front to back, most are on hills. We were disappointed in the facilities, and Hot Springs is not much of a town. If going through the area again we'd stay in further up in the Black Hills, between Hill City and Rapid City. The only thing worth seeing in Hot Springs was the Mammoth dig site, but not enough to draw us back for an overnight stay.

A nice KOA, last time we were through this area there were some negative reviews, but we found this to be a great park, but we prefer to the Sioux Falls KOA. It was off the interstate enough so you weren't bothered by highway noise. There are shaded pull through sites, lots of space, clean pool and bathhouse. The huge Wal-mart and Cabelas make this a convenient stop on your travels. We'd stay here again.

This is a great campground. We used it as an over-night on our travels, and we would definitely stay here again. It is a clean campground, well laid out, nice, heated pool, clean restrooms, well stocked store, and has friendly owners.

This is an older campground. It sits on a busy corner of two main roads, which means that there really isn't a place in the campground where you won't hear road traffic. We used it as a one-night stay, it was adequate for that purpose. The facilities were older and we just OK. Clean, but in need of updating. It's a good base camp for exploring the area, though.

This place is a marina first, not a campground. They have a nice marina which has a restaurant and bar, swimming pool, picnic areas, and the bathhouse is located under the restaurant and includes laundry facilities. They also have a seasonal campground, which is not where you'll be if you're spending a few nights. The campground where they'll put you is called the "field" because it's just that, a field. I can't even call it a campground because this is the condition it was in: no access road, no marked off campsites, just a row of hookup boxes that you back into along a tree line on two sides of a big field. The field is unimproved - bumpy, swampy, and you have to drive over it to get to your site. There is no trash service or dumpster, you have to drive your trash to the marina. There is no bathhouse for the campground, you have to use the one at the marina, about a 1/4 mile away. There is no on-site manager, which means there is no one to enforce quiet hours. It's basically a free for all in a field. We had neighbors that pulled in at midnight - 4 diesel trucks with boats and 2 large campers/5gth wheels - who turned on outside food lights and played and drank - at 2am they were still up and their kids were running around, screaming. There was nothing anyone could do. We were booked for 2 nights but we packed up the next morning and checked out. I will never go back, and I would advise no one to use this place. They make no effort at all to provide any services for their campers. Very disappointing.
