Nice state park. It has two separate campgrounds. The Lakeview campground has 41 electrical sites. It has many trees so there is good shade, but there is no understory. So there is little to no privacy. You are close to your neighbors. It is very family oriented. Many kids. Sites 1-7 are along the lake. They have good views of Lake Mille Lacs. They would work good for tents and pop up campers. If you want more secluded and spread out sites the Maple Grove campground offers that (if you don't need an electrical site). Most of the roads are paved in the park (except for the Maple Grove campground). So it is good if you have small children who like to ride bike. There is a nice paved trail along the lake with nice views. There are two separate boat ramps - so good access to the lake. Although it was a slightly chilly while we were there it has one of the nicer looking beaches I have seen at a state park. We'll return to this state park in the future, but will try a camp site in the Maple Grove campground next time.

We took a fall camping trip to this park. After a long drive we arrived mid to late afternoon only to find that the ranger station was closed and it was posted that we had been assigned a site inside the campground loop. I normally wouldn't want an inside site, but it was ok because no one else was in the inside loop. Overall, we were disappointed with the campground. We were expecting a more wooded campground with secluded sites. You would expect more after driving through miles & miles of forest. The campground is like a city park. There are some tall shade trees, but that's it. My wife was also frightened to see a dead bear hanging from a tree about 50 yards away when we woke up in the morning (we didn't realize our neighbors were bear hunters). The park is beautiful and I would visit it again. However, I would probably find another campground to stay at.

We had a reservation here for one night. We arrived in the afternoon and did a quick drive through the park to see what it looked like. We were disappointed. It was wide open. No shade trees, privacy, or seclusion of any kind. There were some sites right on Lake Superior, but they didn't even look that nice. The camping sites are right on top of each other. Not the type of camping we prefer. You will get to know your neighbors real well at this type of campground. We actually left and did not stay the night. We wouldn't return to this campground for another visit.

Excellent park. The scenery in and around the park is very good. We only camped one night so didn't get to see as much of the park as we would have liked. The campground is nice. We stayed in site 39e. It's a smaller site, but worked fine for our class C motorhome. I would have preferred to stay in a more secluded site, but some of those have pretty tight curves and turns to navigate. We will come back to this park in the future. The road into the park on the east side is pretty rough for several miles. I believe they are repairing it this year.

We were pleasantly surprised. This is a nice park. We stayed in site 10e. The electrical sites are in one row. There is nice spacing between sites. You don't feel like you are being crowded by your neighbors. The non-electrical sites are in a loop. We noticed a few had raised and level tent pads. There is a small stream next to the campground and the Mississippi River is a short walk past the ranger station by the park entrance. The city of Little Falls is nearby, along with two museums which are close to the park. It's a nice park to spend a weekend with the family. We will come back. The only negative was the water wasn't turned on yet for the flush toilets / showers.
