This is ONE CROWDED park!! You are very close to the beach, and they pack the RV's into this place. There is very little space between sites and no privacy at all. The park is clean and the pool / amenities are nice. It is a party atmosphere and if you like that you should be good. (Not our preference) Also, I have never seen so many golf carts in my life! It was like cruise night every night and tons of unsupervised kids all over the place. If you don't like the hustle and bustle of a busy place, then I suggest the state park just up the road. Not quite as nice, but a much more laid back atmosphere.
We have camped at Topsail the past several years during the month of July and this still by far is our favorite place to stay. It is a former converted private resort campground and the sites are very spacious and well landscaped. The private 3 mile beach is never crowded and there is plenty of room and privacy if wanted. Our kids love this place as there is so much to see and do. Bike riding is great and the short trip to the beach area is easily covered on a bike or by taking the tram. Of all the states and campgrounds we have visited up and down the east coast, this is by far the nicest and most scenic ocean place we have been. Book early as sites are hard to come by.
Nice campground and the facilities were clean. I would by no means call this a resort as the name implies. Typical family campground with swimming pools and a good amount of activities. The sites are stone, but big and level (we were in the upper section). Kids playgrounds are rundown and there are no swings attached to any of them. Pools are clean and well maintained. I felt the price was high for what we got, but overall it is a nice place.
