First off, I have to say this was the noisest park I've ever camped in. No, I don't mean the other campers were making too much noise or there was traffic noise. I mean it was noisy with all of the crickets, frogs and katydids! Camp here in the summer, and Mother Nature will sing you to sleep at night! On a more serious note, the campground is much larger than I was expecting, all of the sites I looked at were quite large, paved, and the lakefront sites had a wooden deck with stairs leading down to the bank of the lake. I did notice that some of the other sites required a climb up a few stairs or a hill to get to the actual site (tent sites), but nothing major in elevation change. Canoe/boat rentals, a nice sandy beach for swimming and a motor size restriction for boats make this a great family campground!

The proprietor was the nicest person I've ever met at a campground! The facilites are all brand new, totally private bathroom stalls and showers. They have a large screen TV in the lounge and show movies nightly, providing popcorn, coffee, cappuchino and lemonaide for free. There is a hot tub on the deck and they have just installed free wi-fi internet! The only reasons this campground didn't get a 10 rating is that the campground is right on hiway 231; the traffic noise is extreme, and the spaces are VERY close together with no picnic tables nor grills. I arrived here at the end of March, 2006 on a Friday and was the only person in the whole park! The ranger arrived just at dark and collected the money. The bathrooms were a bit far from the camping area itself (maybe 300 feet away) with no showers or other amenities not noted above. The park itself is nice and perfect for a night away from any hiway noise or city lights. There are natural springs here that were used many, many years ago as healing springs. My first time camping with my new-old popup camper I'm restoring (a 1975 Palomino). The sites weren't all THAT level, but nothing major. I camped in the middle of January at a Geocaching event and the wind did NOT stop blowing! The campstore is nicely stocked, the rangers are VERY nice. I'd recommend this campground to anyone. The only thing, one of the bath houses (the handicapped one) was closed and there wasn't any notification except on the doors of the house itself.
