My son and I stayed here for our shake down run for the start of our 09 camping season. We were pleasantly surprised by this campground. As in previous posts the owners and seasonals were extremely friendly. All open facilities were always clean. Wi-Fi worked fantastic even from inside my motorhome. We were in spot 105. If I have to say anything negative, it would be to trim some of the trees/bushes near the road so they don't rub along the top and sides of your rig. Again we enjoyed our stay! Remember "IT BEATS STAYING HOME".
We just got back from spending 5 days at this CG. We stayed in site J25. It was nice and level. We would have liked a little more room between spaces, but all in all it was fine. Bathrooms/showers were always clean. We were shocked on how quiet it got after dark. Even on a holiday weekend, and the CG was full. I really have no complaints. The wifi worked great with at least 4 bars of signal inside our MH. I forget how much we paid so the $45 is probably wrong. If you like to party, and the hooting and holloring, then don't come to Fort Whaley.
We stayed at this CG for 2 nights. We were their for Warbirds over DE. The CG is a lot nicer than I had imagined. I was in site 4 on Friday and 16 on Saturday. Site 4 had W/E/S, electric was 50 amps. I had just 50 amp electric in site 16. I will stay here again next year. It was perfect for what I used it for. It is very difficult to get a reservation so call early.
We just got back from a 10 day stay at this CG. Overall it was nice. We were in site 113 (which is one of the 5 pull-throughs they have). The site does have 50 amps. The draw back is this site is way too small for a 36' MH. It is a pop-up or tent site at best! There is a very steep drop off where you'd park your unit. My front bumper was as high as my chest and I'm 6' tall! There are 2 other pull-throughs in that area and mine was the best. We did have a nice view of the lake. The bathrooms were always clean! I even saw the cleaning crew at the bathrooms at 11pm! We will definitely stay here next year but of course in a different area. There is a pool at the water park. The pool is free when the water park is closed. You can also swim at the beach area by the lake. Have Fun!
We just got back from a nice time at this CG. We've been here several times; it is still fun. We have a 36' motorhome, and it is still a tough place to get around. Just take your time, and have spotters help you. The only drawback I have is that they charge you for A/C use, children, and $6.00 to launch a boat. We had a 9' kayak! The bathrooms were good, and the showers are pay showers. All in all still a fun and quiet place. Remember the staff is strictly business so don't try and chit chat. You're not there for them anyway.
We're back from another great time at this CG. We always stay back in the 500 section as it is much quieter. We rarely saw our son (14)as this CG has sooo many activities for kids of all ages. We will definitely return next year. Big rigs are no problem.
We just returned from an outstanding stay at this CG. This was our 1st time at this CG. We wish we came sooner. The owners were great. Always asking if we were ok, having a good time, etc.. CG was very full for Mothers day weekend and very quite even before quiet hours. The camping rate is very good and they offer several discounts, (Good sam, etc..). We were in site C and had plenty of room for our 36' MH and toad. Will return again soon.
Just got back from another great time at this CG. We haven't had a bad time yet. It was very cold while there but still had fun. Indoor pool and hot tub were great! Bathrooms and showers were clean and heated. We had a towed car so their is plenty to do within a 15 mile radius. We were in site LF15. I pulled in our RV so you had a great view of the lake out the front windshield. The normal way is to back in but, water wasn't on so it didn't matter.
We love camping here but, this time we had a very unlevel site. We were in #206 and it is too small for a 36' MH. The front wheel were 10" off the ground. I had a 6 high stack of those yellow blocks under the front tires. I had a 4 high stack under each front jack and we still weren't level. That site is a GREAT site, just not for that size MH. Everything else was perfect. We will definitely stay again. Just ask about levelness when calling. I also heard that the CG will supply you with leveling boards. They actually bring them to your CG. I found out too late or I would have taken that offer.
This was our 3rd year here and probably our last. Everyone was very nice, but there are so many other CG within the same distance that are so much better. For my $53 I got a crowded pool and highway noise. They are big rig friendly. Bathrooms/showers were always clean. We had a 36' MH.
We camped here over Labor Day and had a great time. I love coming to a CG and seeing positive changes. Upon talking to the owner, next year we'll see even more. The only items I'd like to see remedied is clothes hooks in the changing room @ the pool and some sort of fence by basketball court to keep ball from going into trees or going down hill hitting the campers. We will be back next year. They are big rig friendly. We had a 36' MH +toad and had no problems.
We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time. We were 3 sites from the lake in site 12. Yes there is no sewer and yes the water park w/pool is $14. We stayed the week prior at a Gettysburg CG for $53. With that we got a crowed small pool and a noisy highway. There too you have to pay extra for the "water park". To us this is a great deal and will be back with friends next year. Follow the directions on their web site. We followed our GPS from NJ and had one 1 1/2 mile 9% and a 3 mile 10% winding downhill. Amongst several winding uphills. Not fun. There is at least 1 pull thru that I saw. This CG is big rig friendly. We had a 36' MH + toad and had no problems.
We just got back from an excellent 4 day vacation at this CG! This was a great CG and I wish we went there sooner. The entire staff were great! Very friendly and will do almost anything for you. They even came around Thursday evening to warn everyone to close their awnings "and batten down the hatches" that a bad storm was coming, And it did come with a vengeance! We camped with a 36' MH and towed a car. The sites were plenty big enough. If your lucky you can get a nice site which has a concrete pad for your camper and picnic table and a bench to sit by the fire. Bathrooms were very clean every time I went along with the showers. The only negative thing is that they charge $5 for each child each day. Our kids were both 12, maybe they don't charge if they were younger. Just giving you a heads up to ask when making your reservations.
Just like the other reviews say, Everyone is super nice! We stayed in a pull_thru site with a 36' MH and toad. Plenty of room all around. My son and I felt welcome as if we've known them a long time. Thank you for a great time. The scenery on the way and at the CG is amazing. Will be back again and again.
I stayed for 5 days and it was great. I was in spot 419 with a 36' motorhome. It was a large pull-through site. Yes, there is some road noise. I didn't even notice it after a short time. I will be back again next year.
I stayed here on the weekend of the 20th and 27th. This CG is fantastic! Office staff are great, along with the maintenance staff. The only complaint would be the decor of the bathrooms. They are clean but old. A great place to stay anyway. We stayed in a 36' motorhome.
We've camped here several times and enjoy it very much. We stayed in the concrete pad area with our 36' MH. The only complaints I have are, Keep the pool open later than 5pm and put soap in all bathrooms.
This CG is good for what it is- a place to stay while doing the park and soak city. As for a "normal" CG it is way off. First and foremost your not allowed to ride your bike!! Come on! I've been to many CG and have yet to see a problem caused by a bike rider! The bathrooms were a mess at all times! Staff were business friendly only. English was a major problem at CG and park. Quiet time was fine and the camping area was fine. Good electric and water pressure. Shuttle vans were a big plus.
I stayed here over the Labor day weekend. Camp ground was full but very quiet. It rained hard from Saturday morning until Saturday evening. Some sites did somewhat flood but overall everything dried out reasonably well. I only have 2 complaints, the changing rooms at the pool needs hooks to hang cloths from while changing. Bathrooms need to be attended to more than once a day. I actually plunged one of the toilets myself. Over all if it was a nice weather weekend everything would have been fine. The area does have some nice scenery so bring another vehicle. I will stay here again next year and do some winery tours.
Definitely not big rig friendly. We camped here in a 36' MH and it was very tight. The overall campground is good. Lots of wooded sites and very quite. Large number of seasonals and most are very nicely decorated. The down side to this CG are the staff and most campers. The staff are over the top RUDE! I know I'm not there to converse with the staff but, a hi or thank you would work. Most campers hardly spoke which is unusual at CG now days.
This CG would get higher marks except for a couple problems. Main problem is that the pool is only open till 6pm everyday! This is the only CG we've gone to that closes this necessary activity sooo early. Most wait till at least 8pm. Remember some of us can't get there on a Friday till about at least 6. The other problem is no soap in the bathrooms. I know its trivial but most of us (I assume) wash our hands after using the bathroom. This is a great filler campground and one of the best in NJ.
This CG is amazing! We stayed there over the 4th of July holiday. We were in site J in the paved section with a 36' MH. This place is very clean. The staff are always cutting, blowing, and weed whacking the CG. Speaking of the staff, they are extremely friendly. I'm trying very hard to think of something negative and it just isn't happening! I can't wait till October 1 so I can book a couple of visits next year. Go ahead and call them you won't be disappointed.
