This is a very nice forested state campground located along Quechee Gorge. The sites are large and have plenty of room in between. As a whole everything is very clean and tidy, when you pull out they come in and rake the site. There are no pull thru sites but the sites and roads are wide enough that it is no problem backing in. There are some low branches that will brush the sides and top, but will not cause any damage. Excellent campground for only $16 per night
The campground is in a stand of Lodge Pole Pines,we had site A30, it had tons of room and a nice view of National Park Mountain. This park is very clean and professionally run. Since this was our first time to Yellowstone we had a lot of questions and the staff was very helpful and informative. Dump station has three lanes and is very clean. The three lanes help to keep the morning line up to a minimum. The location is central to Old Faithful, Canyon, and West Yellowstone.
The good: The owners were excellent, very friendly and informative. You can tell they enjoy owning the campground. The sites toward the back are very nice, they are level with a cement pad next to parking spot. The bad: The water is terrible. The drinking water smells and taste bad. After doing laundry, it made our clothes smell. The pool is old and not in very good shape, water was cloudy. When we got here it was very busy, so maybe they hadn't had a chance to do the daily maintenance, and I'm sure the water is local and that doesn't help.
This was our first big stop after 4 days on the road. It was great! We needed to have a place to relax and shake the road dust off and this was the place to do it. We used the pool, showers and the laundry, all were in very good shape and clean. The staff is very nice and were very visible and hard working. Our site was a double, which gave us plenty of elbow room. Great quiet location 5 miles from the Badlands National Park.
