You might think that this campground is near Wild Mountain, but it is not even close. Bathrooms & showers are new & beautiful. Sites are nice & big. Not too much to do here. It's OK if you are planning to enjoy Taylor's Falls and need a place in the area. Playground equipment is old. Pool is a distance from the campsites. We would not go back. The kids (ages 6-8) got bored at this campground. If you do visit Taylor's Falls, make sure you go to Fawn-Doe-Rosa, a deer park in the area. Lots of fun!
We've camped here a couple of times and we've had a good time. They have fun activities. Nice pool, horsey rides, decent playground. Easy, beautiful hiking around the river. It's a nice quick drive from Minneapolis/St. Paul. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are not well maintained. The toilets have a hard time flushing. The paper towels run out. So by the end of the weekend, the bathrooms are in a sorry state. If only they would put a plunger in each stall and add another paper towel dispenser. There is one main bathroom/shower house. Everything else in the park is porta potties.
Two adults & 3 kids (age 6-8). The lake view from our wooded campsite was spectacular! The bathrooms looked brand new and were spotless. They have a nice lodge & pool. There is a little beach where the kids hunted snails. Nice playground. Lake Itasca State Park is a short drive away. We were sad to leave our little slice of paradise.
