Our first stay at this park, and was very good. Like others have mentioned about the trains, 2 an hour but less than 5 min long, but you do get used to it. This time of year a lot of transient folks. No fire wood was available, supply man did not yet arrive. Restrooms were well stocked and cleaned, Plenty of "Hot" water. Friendly staff especially the owner. Will stop there again when in the area.
Camped here with a group of friends, The site was not what we reserved... But Better!! We highly recommend this CG, the owners helped back us into our site upon arrival, checked through out the weekend to see how things were going etc. A great family Cg!!
We just used the park as a base camp, There were mostly full timers there. Restrooms were small but clean. Pool was emptied for the season but looked well kept. Store was also a bit small and a bare. The sites were nice and for the most part level. Cable Tv worked with out problems. Would stop again if in the area. Its out of the way and quiet!!!
Hmm well the park is great... The reservation staff however leaves a lot to be desired... Allow us to explain...After making reservations on the phone the previous week, we called to update our reservation... (Problem 1) They originally had us checking in on the wrong date, a day early, which if we had known could have came in then. (Problem 2) Was informed the site would be ready and that there would be NO problem with check in with the new date or site... (Problem 3) We arrived at 10:00 am on the date that was updated. We were then informed that we would have to wait until 2:00 Pm to check in (Remember we had confirmed dates and time by phone.) but until then, we could use the amenitites ie pool area. We would have liked to camped with our friends, and there was a site available directly across from them but was told it was reserved. We offered to switch sites and we would pay for the sewer at the original site. Still no dice!!! The arrival of the persons camping using that site, arrived an hour before we packed up and left on Friday. Being curious we had asked them if they would have minded the switch...The said no problem no big deal... SO In our opinion, you have a campground who doens't really care what people would like, but then again they own the two out of three campgrounds in the area. Oh and one final thing... The Wifi is "iffy" we had to go to front area of the park to get a signal... The 3rd C/Grnd is taken up by seasonal users.
This was our first stay at the park...It will NOT be our last. Its clean, staff is very helpful and nice. The Rest rooms were fantastic, clean, well kept, the same with all the facilities. The only negative is that the sites are somewhat close together. There are grocery stores close by as well, for more than the one or two items that you may need. The Camp store is one of the most well stocked we have ever seen as far as rv supplies, as well as food and goodies!!! Its well worth the trip, ans as others have said it may be full but there never seems to be a lot of people there!!! What we found out is that its only 49 miles from home!! and with the gas prices what a bargin!!!
Park is small by some standards. All the staff was Very friendly. Sites including (pull throughs)are nice size, mostly level. The camp store is very well stocked in food etc and camp supplies to handle most needs, again staff is very helpful and nice. The pool was being cleaned and refilled while we were there but looked great. The bathrooms left some thing to be desired...They were clean but the showers were a bit small, and the water controls could be improved (one control, for hot and cold with a chain) reminded me of a military post) Over all we liked this c/grnd and will return, it was orderly, and clean and seem to have a lot of permanent campers.
One of the best Thousand Trails parks we have been to on the East coast. Staff was Very helpful, friendly, with lots of activites for every one. The park has moderate to large mostly level sites with shade trees. Two nice pools (one for famlies, and one for adults only). Restrooms and showers are checked frequently and kept clean and orderly. We have put it on our list of parks worth returning too. Colonial Williamsburg Va. & Busch Gardens theme park are nearby.
Grounds are operated by a very friendly couple, however office was closed most most mornings till after twelve although the sign posted stating office opened at 8:30 AM. The pool is small and was closed 4 of the 6 days of our stay. Rest rooms were antiquated but clean, showers were need new "heads" and lighting could be improved. Brochure stated that propane was sold, however it had to be gotten off site 5 miles away. Computer hook up was through the pay phone located in the laundry room. Campground information sheet states that boat rentals were avaialble . . . which consisted "ONE" paddle boat which was NOT in servicable condition. To sum it up this camp ground is ok if just used for a base camp for exploring the surrounding area.
Very clean, friendly, and helpful staff. Restrooms and showers very clean. Shaded sites however are very LIMITED, and only on the outer perimeter of park. Sites are Level and graveled with each site having a concrete pad. Sites were deep but very close...our awning was only 26" from neighbors sewer and water hookups. Fire rings / up-right grills available depending on site.
Small Mom & Pop operation. Very helpful and friendly. However the sites were a bit close and small. Fire rings are avalable upon request. Restrooms/Showers were dated but clean. There are NO amenities or camp store. There is an RV dealer across the street.
