This was an OK campground for a night stop but we were glad to have got there early or it would have been a tougher job getting into the site since they are very close. Lots of permanent residents with old trailers but that wasn't a real problem. Wi-Fi was fine. The rate was Passport America.
This is a lovely campground with all the facilities we require for any extended stay. It was a pleasure to stay here from the start with efficient and helpful registration. There's a large field for dog walking which makes a change from some of the campgrounds we have been in on this trip. The individual bathrooms were clean with good pressure in the showers and lots of hot water. Cable and Wi-Fi worked just fine too. We are storing our fifth for the winter while we head back to Canada, and feel confident they will look after it well.
The owners of this park have worked hard to create a great environment. We liked the individual washrooms, free laundry, rig washing service ($50 for a very thorough wash), huge pull throughs, and good expanse of lawn area for dog walking. We didn't like the lack of decent Wi-Fi connection or that the advertised book library/exchange was closed. It's annoying when a website shows an amenity or facility that is not available because its the low season, which is what we were told. However, this is the best site we have found in Amarillo and we'll be returning here again next time we need an I-40 stop over.
This is the second time we've stayed here and have enjoyed the pleasant welcome, escort to the site, spacious pull throughs and enclosed dog run. The staff are very friendly and efficient. We stayed in the new section on this occasion which has no grass so not as nice as the older section, but I still rank it very highly for an I-40 night stop.
This is a convenient night stop on I-40 with minimal road noise. Good sized pull throughs, clean laundry and a nice rec room made it a pleasant stay. The individual washrooms were a bonus as was the Passport America rate (for non-sewer hook-up).
This was fine for an overnight stop although a bit too much like car park for our tastes. However, for the brief time we were there we had good wi-fi connection, were able to walk the dog in an off leash area, and used the clean laundry room which could be larger given the size of the park, but on the whole it was OK. It is close to the interstate, and there is traffic noise and train noise during the night.
We were only planning on staying one night but reserved a second as soon as we saw the view out of our back window. It was so close to the water it seemed as though we were floating! We had site 1 which has a small green park area to one side. The site was a good size and even with our minimal back-in experience it was an easy fit. W-Ffi was only available close to the office but there is a nice area with tables and umbrellas, where it worked well. The campground shares space with the marina and it was fun to watch boats come and go. We will definitely return here next time we're in the area.
We were delighted with this park. Good sized pull throughs and close enough to the river to walk the dog and sit by the water, even without a riverfront site. We reserved but it was very busy and all the river sites were taken. Next time we will ask for R1, R3 or R5 since they were all waterside pull throughs where we would have had our picture window facing the river. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean with large showers. The park is extremely well maintained overall. Cable and Wi-Fi were good. The only negative comment is related to traffic noise from the interstate. It was intrusive and difficult to ignore whatever part of the park you were in.
Outstanding overnight stop. Long, level pull-through in a pretty flower-filled park. Washrooms spotlessly clean and a laundry room with adjoining sitting area with large screen TV. We will definitely use this site again.
A very attractive riverfront campground with plenty of waterside sites. A pleasant trail meanders along the water for dog walking or running. I was surprised that the washrooms were closed for cleaning at 7.30am; however, this was a good overnighter.
We arrived just as a tsunami alert had been declared and were informed we may have to evacuate, so the first night was a little stressful. All was well, though, and we had a pleasant five night stay. As previous reviewers have noted, the cable was poor but we were able to get a few local stations on the antennae. We were at the beach end of the park and could not get any Wi-fi signal. From speaking to a few local people it was clear this site is one of the most popular in the area. Given there is direct beach access, the sites are roomy, and its generally quiet, we can see why.
A convenient night stop just off I-29 between Omaha and Sioux City. The owners are very friendly and cheerful which is so nice after a long days driving. Nice touches were the escort to site, biscuits for the dog and chocolates for us! We missed the turn-in: it's almost immediately right, just before the gas station. W-Fi was OK: we were at the far end of the campground and the signal was sporadic but adequate. Site was very long so we didn't need to unhook.
We chose this one because of all the good reviews and weren't disappointed. It is a beautiful park with good sized sites and lots of open grassy areas. There are plenty of dog walking trails close-by. We did have some problems with the Wifi even though we were in the Base Camp area, but the staff were very helpful and reset the modem which cleared the problem somewhat. There are a lot of campgrounds in this area, but we would have no hesitation in coming back to this one which is close to Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park.
We'd planned on spending one night here but stayed two because of the beautiful setting, riverfront site, and gorgeous weather. Very friendly staff escorted us to the site which was a large back-in on the river. Wi-Fi good even at the far end of the park. Would definitely return here on our next trip to Montana.
