Easy big rig in and out for overnighters. Level sites with minimal landscaping. Maximum RV Repair owns the campground, making it very convenient for getting repairs done. They do excellent work and the rates were not excessive. We will stay here again.
Laundry a little pricey. Showers are individual rooms and clean enough that we actually used them. Sites were long enough and fairly level. Roads are narrow and we backed up rather than risk making a turn. In dry weather this would not have been an issue as the area is very flat - after 15 inches of rain we were concerned. Outer Road was uneven and bouncy. Excellent diesel choices in Hayti (6 miles). We would stay here again for the convenience.
Easy in and out and plenty of room for our big rig this time of year. However, during busy season it would be a very tight fit. Excellent location for sightseeing. Groceries and gas fairly close. Would stay here again.
There are no water/electric sites in this campground. There is dry camping only except for 15 full hookups with 30 amp service. With only 15 hookups it is unlikely one will be available without a reservation. Some full hookups are in the open, some in the trees. Wi-Fi is available in the camp store only. No cellphone service. There is plenty of space between sites.
Found this RV park by chance when we shortened our travel day. Agree with prior reviews. Very easy in and out. Six or so pull thru sites not occupied long term. Similar number of back in sites, also large and level so would also be easy for an overnight. No restrooms or other facilities. Small town. Does have a restaurant. No grocery. Would stay here again.
This campground was put in for construction workers building a nearby power plant and is geared toward long-term renters. Not much to look at but the sites are long and access is easy to Hwy 6. Nights were quiet. If you are in the area and don't want to drive to Waco this makes a good stopover spot. The clubhouse is decent and guests may use the kitchen. Showers are private bathroom style and clean but very basic. Expensive nightly rate for what you get but worth it to us for the convenience.
This is a Corps of Engineers campground on Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Most sites are on the water. Sites are well separated with large covered picnic shelters. Good roads. Do not turn on Union Grove Ln (dead-end road). Turn on the good paved Union Grove Park Road.
Sites are very narrow but ours was very easy in/out and there was room to park an extra car across the road. Park is neat, clean and friendly. Propane is available at a very reasonable price. Laundry was clean. Will stay here again.
If you're a birder this is a fabulous place to stay. There are mature hackberry trees here, as well as a variety of other trees loved by birds. While here, we saw a Ringed Kingfisher on the lake as well as a fabulous variety of migrants and regulars. Winter Texans obviously take pride in maintaining their sites, although we stayed here after most had departed. Also some very nicely maintained long-term RVs and a few park models here. Should you have an oops as we did while turning into our site, you can be assured friendly and expert help will arrive quickly and your day will not be ruined. We will definitely return and will stay longer. Also has a very nice clubhouse. Restrooms were spotless with lotion and other homey touches.
We had no trouble navigating the roads with our 39' 5th wheel. The entire campground is quite flat and level, which appeals to us for an overnighter. If you want large shade trees, go to the other campground. Our site was level enough that we did not need to unhook, although a little side-to-side adjusting was required. There is a nicely done hiking trail. Because of the canyon and because the campground sits in a bowl, you won't have cellphone or modem service. There is a nice dump station, but don't pull in just to dump - the dump fee is the same as the camping fee, $23. Since they are right on the river this pricing makes sense to us but could be a shock to someone only needing to dump.
This is a convenient little gravel RV park between the motel, where you check in, and the Post Office. An easy walk to shopping, including groceries. Free breakfast at the motel and use of their nice hot tub and pool (across the street). Wi-Fi worked. No separate bath house so no showers. Staff friendly and helpful. Side-by-side sites, nicely done site dividers.
Our 5th wheel is 39' four slides and we travel with an extra car. Everything fit and we had no difficulty getting in or out of our site. The park was clean and the staff friendly. We will definitely stay here again.
I prorated and rounded up the cost based on our month-long stay. We found the staff friendly, the pool and spa clean, the entertainment good, our neighbors friendly, and the price reasonable. True, this is a huge gravel parking lot, but we had plenty of elbow room and found this an excellent location for our sightseeing. We had no problems with WiFi. It was pretty cold at night while we were here and there were some very windy day. We filled our propane tanks weekly and thankfully, the rate was very, very reasonable. I do wish there was more nice desert landscaping, but we would definitely choose this park again.
A must for Escapees! This is how RV camping should be. Lots of room, very friendly, lots going on. There is an excellent library. Very nice laundry. Note that electricity is in addition to the nightly rate.
This was a pretty little campground for an overnight stop, in town and close to shopping but on the river and private. The campground is on a hill and the road is very steep going down to the river. We didn't for one moment consider camping there for an overnight although it was suggested. There are pull through sites on the hill that are great overnight sites. Ours was so level we didn't need to unhook the truck from the 5th wheel. Our car fit easily in the site. I'd rate this park higher if not for the price. $35 included a Good Sam discount, way too high in my opinion for the area and amenities offered. But, the other area campground we called was full, so we stayed here, as did a few other campers.
We were very pleased with this RV park for an overnight stop. Very easy in/out and an unbeatable price. We paid $16. $12 was the basic rate + $2 for 50 amp and $2 for cable. Seems to be a bit more than others paid. Host was very friendly. There are a great many monthlies here, and many older RVs, but we did not notice any cluttered, unsightly sites. Everything seemed tidy.
This was a lovely campground with very large pull through sites, and grown pecan trees. We found the staff friendly, but were disappointed they no longer have either the new hot tub or exercise room. Should have asked in advance. There were deer, many birds, and squirrels - plus the park ducks. Very enjoyable. Yes, we found them very overpriced for the winter amenities offered, and wished we'd stayed at the State Park, which is very big-rig friendly; however, the campground has a very, very nice layout and great river access. This would be a wonderful campground for a summer family vacation if you don't mind the price. I would bring my grandchildren here.
The pull through sites are just marked spaces in a large gravel lot. No landscaping. However the location is great, and they have very nice facilities. The laundry was large, clean and reasonably priced. The indoor pool looked very nice, and I would have used it - but it's closed every Wed. for maintenance. Our site was level enough that we did not need to unhook from the truck. Price is with Escapees discount. We will stay here again.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and our kitty enjoyed watching the ducks on the pond out our back window. Our 39' 5th wheel and extra car did fit in the site. All sites are gravel, and there are a lot of weeds in and around many of the sites. The covered RV sites are an interesting idea and probably nice in summer, although their size and complete lack of landscaping made them look more like covered storage than camping sites. We didn't try the cafe as we had business in town. We would stay here again.
Rate based on weekly rate. We have stayed here several times. This park has many guests who come for the winter. Very friendly place and the owners continue to make improvements. The laundry room is large, clean, and it opens to the rec room where there is a big screen TV, and sofa plus tables. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by.
Roads were being worked on while we were here. We were in a pull-through section and had a very roomy site with plenty of room for ourselves and guests. The sites were well maintained. This is always a very friendly park with many activities. A great value. However, it is a park geared to full-time RVers or retirees, not vacationing families.
We stayed here for a week. Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms, laundry and clubhouse were all very clean. There is an RV service center next door; however, they do not service RVs in the campground - you have to get your RV to the shop. There are no stores close by. Regardless, it was a very handy place to stay while we visited family.
This is a very cute, tidy and clean little campground just behind a truck stop. Very easy in and out. We were not bothered at all by highway or truck noise. There was no on/off switch at the electric hookup. We would definitely stay here again.
Great little campground in the pines. Welcomed and escorted to the only totally level site we've had on our trip. We didn't even need to unhook from the truck! Told to settle in and come pay later. Very friendly, lots of room. We walked part way around the pond. There are a number of long-term RVs but nothing looked trashy. Very pleasant stay, easy in and out, good truck stop across the highway.
Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the other casino campgrounds. From our first call on through our entire stay everything about this operation was unprofessional. We could not get accurate directions even with multiple calls, were told we would have a pull through when none were available (I don't mind a back in, only being promised one when staff was well aware there were none), We could not find food prices, road signs lacked essential info... Every single personal contact was unprofessional and we noticed a very marked difference when we visited other casinos. There are plenty of choices in this area. We would not stay here again.
At Passport rates this is a decent overnight stop. Yes, there are plenty of truck and lots of long-term residents with lots of stuff. But the person in the office and other guests we met were very friendly and helpful and we felt perfectly safe staying here. Plus it is very close to plenty of shopping, food, and a good truck stop. We would stay here again.
A pretty park with level sites. Showers were clean and private and nice enough that we did use them. No mirror or electric plugs, however. Large laundry also had a couple oversize washers. We stayed here for a week and would stay here again although we did think it a little overpriced.
This county campground on Clark Hill Lake was a wonderful discovery. We were able to navigate their road in a 40' fifth wheel without difficulty. Great view of the lake, plenty of hiking trails. Restrooms/showers very clean and we actually used them. Plenty of elbow room. A great value compared with the state park campgrounds, too. No site checks were done while we were there in March and most fellow campers appeared to either overstay their reservation or slip in and out after/before business hours without checking in. This may simply be a winter occurrence during very slow season. We prefer to pay for what we use and you certainly shouldn't count on doing this - it's simply an observation of something we found unusual.
These folks offer everything we want most in a campground. We were carefully guided into our site and exiting couldn't have been easier. There were bird feeders in the bushes outside our windows and interesting flowers and plants throughout the campground. We barely left the park. One afternoon the owners had a cookout. No extra charge for the fantastic hamburgers, just good fellowship. We camped here in a 39' fifth wheel and are looking forward to returning. A note of warning, however: You really do want a reservation to make sure a suitable site is open, and you must call ahead as you approach the park so you can be guided in. This truly is necessary. You do not want to enter without being guided.
This is a very nice little golf park and would be a fun place to stay for a week or longer. We found getting our 5th wheel into our site extremely difficult and sure wouldn't want to go through the contortions again for a shorter stay. All the facilities appeared clean and neat. If you're traveling with kids and they aren't old enough to enjoy playing golf, this isn't the park for you.
Asked for and received a pull through site. They have a nice setup and we could have easily navigated a backin here - but not knowing the park we didn't want to take a chance as we have a 39' fifth wheel and extra car. The park has been very nicely redone. The casino has an exceptionally nice seafood buffet.
The office opens at noon so be sure to call ahead if you're arriving earlier. Also, the discount is better if you pay by cash/check. We enjoyed the country setting. The restrooms and showers appeared clean, but not a setup we would consider using ourselves. Nice washers/dryers. One did stop on me mid cycle and a very nice young man came immediately, reset it, and reimbursed the cost of the wash. We stayed here for a week in early March and would definitely stay here again.
When making our reservation I said I had an internet coupon or could use Passport. The person I spoke with assured me the coupon would be honored and was very pleasant, explaining Passport was only good for one night and the coupon was a better value. When we arrived, however, I was very shaken by the owner's anger over my wanting to use a discount. It was honored, but the alternative I offered was that we not stay. We did not have an escort to our site. This is a really nice location for sightseeing and very convenient to the highway. The folks here were otherwise nice and were helpful when we had a problem with our RV. Regardless, I doubt we'll stay here again because I do shop for good values when we travel and wouldn't dare try to claim a discount here again.
We like this park and have stayed here twice. The sites are large, the roads are wide and it's easy to get in and out. The laundry is clean and reasonably priced. No change available and no one in the office - owners off site. WiFi works. The private bathrooms with showers are very functional and I actually used them. Wouldn't dream of using the showers in most RV parks but these are set up very nicely. Didn't care in the least that there are no other amenities. There is excellent shopping in reasonable distance and we'd much rather stay here than in one of the cramped parks closer to the city. Love being able to see the stars at night. Had no problems with ants either this visit or a prior stay in October 2006. That's probably seasonal. Would rate the park higher if the water hadn't been off fairly often. Don't know what the problem was. Owners seem nice and we were able to receive our mail here. Will definitely stay here again.
Decent enough park but not a good value for the money. We were there one night. On arrival we found we'd been bumped from a pull through to a back-in site without notice and moved from the newer part of the park to the older gravel section. Turned out to be a good thing and after the initial surprise we were pleased with our site. Being in with the older, smaller permanents made it much easier for us to navigate the roads, which although adequate are a little tight for a very large rig. Just mention the switch to make readers aware it could also happen to you as this is a problem for some who find it difficult to back in.
A friendly little park. Level sites. Laundry clean but too small for the number of permanent sites. Permanents in separate section from overnight guests. Easy access. All gravel area for overnight guests. No landscaping. Convenient location and would stay here again.
Very roomy pull through sites. Plenty of extra room. Exceptionally nice indoor pool and jacuzzi. All employees very friendly. Free morning donuts. Manager went above and beyond to help diagnose the cause of our battery problem, which could have been very expensive but instead cost nothing for the simple fix. We stayed a couple extra days and would definitely return. An exceptional value.
Probably the most level site we've ever had. Dead center level all directions, no leveling needed. Cute and clean park. Very easy highway access. Quiet. No charge laundry. Free breakfast. Pool closed for the year but hot tub still open. Fascinating building. Friendly people. Everything very nicely maintained. An excellent value. Would definitely stay here again.
Very easy access from 1-45 but very tight turns inside the park. We barely fit in our site and had to park the car elsewhere. Turn into the site too tight for a rig our size and very challenging. There were larger sites available which also had better entry angles, but the larger sites appeared to be for longer term guests. Lots of permanents. Lots. But nicely maintained. At this price we would check out the area competition before considering another overnight stay. They wanted an additional $4 per day for their WiFi.
Arrived on a Sunday. Park office closed. Rates posted and choice of sites posted. Fairly level sites and clean park. Saw manager at site later so went to pay. Rate he wrote on the form was $10 over posted rate for a 50 amp pull through($40 vs $30, making my Passport rate $20). But hey, it was Sunday, so I said nothing and paid up. Yes, they were personable, but a $40 gravel parking lot? By far the most expensive base rate on my entire trip and with the fewest perks - no pool, no hot tub, no rec room, no store, no cable or WiFi, no coffee or breakfast. No wonder they had very few guests.
Lovely trees and clean, shaded campground. Plenty of elbow room for every camper here. The lake at the campground seems to have adequate water. Saw several osprey and some waterfowl. Very little water above the dam, though. This is a very arid region. Don't come here expecting to do much boating - the water really is very low.
Very friendly and accommodating. Convenient to highway but nice and quiet. They've made a very decent park in a drought-ridden area. Bathrooms clean and pleasant. Showers very nicely designed with plenty of hooks, shelf and bench. Most trees not large enough for a lot of shade. The dust seemed to be from traffic at the Flying J and not in the park, but you do have to drive through that area to reach the park.
Windy! Nothing wrong with the campground, but we had to keep the slides in and it was really hard getting connected due to the winds. Passable restaurant nearby and not far from easy access gas stations.
I was a little nervous about camping here because it is in town and not gated. Not an issue. The proximity to shopping is wonderful and not an interference. The shade is welcome - love to hear the wind blowing in the trees, and the owls calling in the early morning. We stayed here for a week and would definitely return again. The side-by-side pull throughs are close. Longer stay folks in back-in sites have more room. Enjoyed walking here. Clean laundry ($1.25 wash but only cost me $.50 to dry), friendly staff. We had to park both vehicles in the extra parking area. If not for our satellite dish and the quirky hookup arrangement could have fit one more vehicle. We have a 39' 5th.
