There is a lot to do at this state park. They offer a good disk golf course, putt-putt golf, nice swimming pool, and great playground. Our favorite thing about this area is the evening and morning deer visits. The area deer population wander through the Yocona Ridge campground every evening around 4:00 p.m. They have two campgrounds, Yocona Ridge and Jones Creek. Jones Creek is the overflow area and not nearly as nice as Yocona Ridge. We camp here a lot, but visitors should expect dirty bathroom facilities, and not so friendly staff.
We stayed here for a week long St. Louis vacation. The sites were very cramped, but in good condition. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. If you stay from Sunday through Thursday, they will give you one free Six Flags ticket. They also advertise that you may upgrade this ticket to a 2-day pass for $12.50. They fail to mention that they cannot actually upgrade your ticket and the current upgrade price at the Six Flags ticket gate is $22.00. Other than the ticket fiasco, we were pleased with the overall campground and amenities.
