Excellent campground with large, spacious, level lots. Additionally the restrooms are very clean and attended to on a regular basis. The only reason no *10* rating is because of no individual sewage hook up. However, the dump station is situated for incoming and outgoing campers with two individual dump ports. Also, the staff were very friendly.

Having camped in a majority of the Florida State Parks I can say without a doubt this is one of the top Florida parks on my list for several reasons. First, friendly helpful staff. Additionally the camp host (and hostess) were cleaning the sites as they were vacated like they were cleaning their own home, immaculate! Secondly the sites are very large compared to most other areas also offering pull through although the back in sites offer more shade. The restroom facilities were very clean and spacious. There are no bad things to say about Silver River SP, if there is a "negative" it is that there is no location sewer, but with that said the dump station is a "double" able to service people going two different directions at the same island. I will definitely make additional trips to this park!!!

Very remote (located at the end of a 17 mile dead end road) within the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Very beautiful setting for wildlife viewing. Drawbacks...gates close at 10 PM with no entry / exit codes provided, only emergency after that. Next, the close proximity of any suitable shopping for groceries. Either Lake City, Florida, or Valdosta Ga. (both 56 miles away) so plan accordingly.

This campground is much better than most of the other facilities in the area, but lacks in some areas. There are no on site restrooms or pool which is a trade off for the quasi remote location, however there is other structures in the area, on the water side that greatly detract from it's beauty and is not shown in it's advertisement. I think next time I will go closer to Townsend.

If your looking for a great place to camp in a clean beach environment than this is the place. I camped in space #34 and was next to the camp host who worked every day cleaning the spots as than became vacant. Being from Florida, I appreciate this beach environment (authentic old Florida) and not the overly commercialized version. The only drawback to this area is the large mosquito population and proximity to good grocery shopping. The closest, large food market (like Wal-Mart) is 80 miles in either direction (Crawfordville or Panama City) so plan accordingly! I look forward to a winter return!!

One of my favorites this park is close to all of the area's major attractions. The grocery stores (two major one's) within 10 minute drive. If you want to see the beach and Tybee Island lighthouse or downtown historic Savannah you wont get any closer. Now, the staff are not to be underrated either. They go out of the way to assist in making your stay one you will remember. The cable television isn't that great getting only three or four channels, but I go there for the overall experience. Very relaxing, large shade tree's and best of all if you have a reservation and arrive after hours you simply go set up and return to the rangers station early the next day and inform them of your location! Seriously, this beats paying $250.00 nightly in the historic district and is much more entertaining. Ive made this a quarterly stop. The only reason I do not give it a 10 is because there are only a couple of sewage hook-ups and they are reserved for camp host.

Nice park but very cramped! Driving a 4 door truck and pulling a 26 foot travel trailer , I had a small issue with backing in but it was done. Very pretty during the "Octoberfest" period I discovered most of the campers were locals from the nearby town just getting away for the week. The park staff was nice and the trash service was unbeatable. Just put it out by the roadside and as an ongoing service the staff makes hourly runs picking up trash. I would stay there again, but the limited space to maneuver is the down side.

Although this park is very hard to get into (takes reservations up to a year in advance) we had a good time. The sites are small and in my case site #34 has to share the water hook-up with site #35, which means my water hose was too small and a trip into Marathon was made. Another down side is the dumpster is adjacent to the bath house and in the summer months those who dive for lobster and fish all day dump the remains in the dumpster and the summer heat can play cruel tricks on you during the day or night and the smell is bad. Other than that this is about the best overall camping area south of Marathon and north of Key West.
