This campground is a large gravel parking lot with one side bordered by the river and the other, the highway. This is one of only 3 private RV parks in Red River (to the best of my knowledge). The hookup worked well. Wi-Fi was only in the office/game room. We backed up to the river which was a pretty nice spot. I would camp here again. The manager was very nice. Fires are only allowed in a container provided by the camper.
This is a city park with free overnight camping with electric hookup. It is just a paved parking lot beside a nice city park. The area surrounding is industrial and a railroad track. I felt safe there and the police did occasionally patrol. No amenities except the electric but it was FREE! I think this is a great service by Dumas that more cities should provide. While we overnighted there, we spent money at a restaurant, Wal-Mart, and fueled up. The city recouped its electricity cost from my sales taxes! There was no charge for overnight parking although the web site says additional nights are $10 each.
Great state park campground. Swimming, boating and hiking available. Large sites with great privacy in addition to waterfront sites. Very busy and no reservations but well worth the trip.
We were unhappy here and left a day early (no refund available). No TV. No cell phone access. Felt rather crowded in our campsite. Because we don't fish, we had little to do in the immediate area. If you fish and/or ride ATVs, you might like this campground location. The Wifi worked well but were warned by the management against using it much due to limited bandwidth.
Enjoyed our riverside camping very much. We found the owner takes great pride in maintaining this campground. This is an excellent stop on the way to or from Yellowstone and worth staying several days.
