Not a bad park. PROS: nice setting on the harbor, ok playground, good camp store, friendly employees, holiday themes, rates ok, great for boaters. CONS: no pool for the kids, sites are pretty tight for a state park, trees are too close to edges of site for slide-outs, trees need height trimmed as some branches drag your RV roof. We were in C183.
Wow - the WORST place I have ever stayed. Sites are so close to each other that slides end up within 15' of the neighbor's campfire! Level sites? HARDLY. This place needs graded badly. Golf carts everywhere into the wee hours. The newer indoor pool was the sole highlight, as the outdoor swimming area is just dangerous IMO. If it were not for all the concerts and other events they attract, this place would be defunct. Overpriced, and overrated.
Very nice for overnight. There is a beach, but its pretty cluttered with lake debris. There is a small playground, adequate for little ones up to 10. Camp hosts are great - singing by the campfire with them was a highlight. Lots are spacious. Nice place, clean facility!
GREAT biking, awesome coastal location, BIRD variety like no other. Ohio's longest boardwalk (about 1.5 miles) through cattail swamps and wildlife galore. Nature center teeming with stuff for the kids. Wind off Lake Erie makes kite flying AWESOME; bring your heaviest kite - it'll fly! Electric sites, no water (get it on your way in), bike trails are almost all level. Quiet.
Unfortunately one of the most crowded and noisiest places we've ever been. Traffic is allowed pretty much all night long. They say "security is great" and there is a security gate, but what they don't tell you is that they NEED all that security. Police patrols and security golf carts make rounds all through the night - how's that for noise? The swimming pool was unreal, salty. Too many people, not enough maintenance. The lots are very, very tight, even for my little 21' TT. Stay elsewhere! Try Kennisee or the State Park.
