We have stayed many times and find it to be one of the most enjoyable trips we make. The owners are so very nice and the office staff is very helpful. The pool is upstairs above the game room and it's a gorgeous view from the pool. It is not part of the Encore chain and it is not run down in anyway. There are apartments you can rent, hint the name Lodge. I do not understand how anyone could mistake it for some of the others in the area. No pets because of the key deer that roam throughout the campground. Fabulous views of the ocean and the gulf when the seaplanes land.
This park is clean and offers many amenities. The restrooms were cleaned daily. The pool is heated and there are many users but plenty of room for all. The campground is well maintained. There are several nice seafood restaurants in the area. The office staff was knowledgeable and polite. The pull thru sites are wide and will accommodate big rigs. We will definitely stay here again.
Campground was clean and well maintained. Lake sites were paved with concrete patios, some had tables and outdoor fireplaces and grills. Quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife.Weather was warm and pool not heated and could have been used if it had been heated. Office staff friendly and helpful. WiFi signal strong.
Many permanent residents but plenty of spaces for travelers. Restrooms and grounds and pool area were well maintained. Tengo internet connections fluctuated greatly depending on time of day. Beach is about 9 miles west with access to fishing areas. Lots of things to do in area.$3.00 per night resort fee in all Encore parks now charged is ridiculous.
This campground is no Resort. It is full of seasonal units that haven't been moved in years. There are mobile homes and some cabins. The roads are bumpy and very dusty. We were assigned a site where the electricity was on a sub box and the cable connections had been ripped off. We refused to stay on that sight and asked if we could be moved. The owner told us that we could not move and that he would be aware if there were problems. We waited for the office staff to arrive back after a 2 hour lunch closing and requested another site. The new site had a regular electric box, but the breaker continually tripped. The owner knew about it, but refused to come look at it. We left the AC off all morning in order for someone to look at it, but no one came.We discussed this again with the owner and his arrogance and lack of concern plus his comments that we could leave if we did not like it made us very sure that he didn't care about RVers. The advertised cable was so poor and fuzzy that they should not advertise that they have it. This park is nothing more than a place for people to stay and go to the beach. The pool was small but clean. The campground is for sale and it is obvious that no improvements will be made. We were extremely disappointed and can not believe the ratings that were given by the published directories and people who have stayed at this park previously. We will not stay here again, nor will we recommend it to anyone.
This park is clean and well kept. The restrooms were clean and the pool was clean. The office staff was pleasant and helpful. The park is a former KOA and is laid out very well. The pull thru sites are spacious and easy to access. The WIFI has a strong signal. A 10% discount is given for any camping card.
We were disappointed after reading the reviews on this site. This campground is crowded and they try to put big rigs into small spots. There is no room for maneuvering. The work campers are over zealous and are rude. The deck surrounding the pool is patched with concrete and rough. There are holes in the pool bottom. The entrance and exits were blocked at night with overflow. This is a very dangerous situation in case of emergency. The office staff was not familiar with the computer system and check in took far longer than it should have taken. Even with the so called improvements, this park has over priced itself for the condition of the park. We will not return until some changes are made.
Despite earlier reports on this forum, we found the office staff and the management extremely helpful and easy to please. The wifi doesn't work in all parts of the park, but the game room has 2 modem hookups. The pool area was spotless and well maintained. The "new" manager was out and about and introduced himself to campers. He was very receptive to constructive comments from us. The seasonal campers were cordial and very welcoming to us.
This KOA could use some repairs on the internal roads. When it rains, they are pools of mud. The many pine tree roots make the sites very bumpy and unlevel. This could be much nicer if the owners would do some maintenance on the grounds. The modem hookup is in a rec room and is only available during certain hours. WiFi would be a definite improvement.
The location is fabulous, BUT the dump station is still down after 7-8 months and we arrived with a 2 week reservation made months ago and there is NO place to dump any of the tanks. We asked the park manager if there was a mobile service available and were told no, but you can go about 6 miles down the road to a private campground and pay between $5-8 to dump. No one in the park rangers office really cared one way or the other that we had not been notified about the lack of restrooms and dump station.
The on site owner continues to add sites and upgrade. All of the interior roads were paved and he had added more sites. There is a new "bluegrass barn" that is used for entertainment and concerts. A restaurant at the front of the campground serves breakfast and lunch. There were two rallys there when we arrived and the way the park is laid out, there was plenty of room.
The campground is located about 2 miles from I-40 and is easily accessible. The office staff was friendly and helpful. The interior roads are narrow and the way the campground is laid out makes it very difficult for a large rig to make a swing to get out of the site. We had to have 2 big trucks move in order to get our 30 ft. travel trailer out. The pull thrus aren't really pull thrus unless there is no one behind you. The clubhouse and laundry room are in a cabin that also houses the bathrooms. This is the site of the only restrooms in the park. There are no facilities for children to play on.
The campground itself is lovely and well maintained. The lady in the office was rude and not friendly when we were checking in. Our entire experience was negative because of the management of the park. The temperature in the small pool was too hot, but we were told by members of the "association " that if you complained, the manager would turn the heat off for the rest of the season. There seems to be a clickish group of people who are seasonals that do not really welcome transients. The price of $40 per night should have cable available. It is only available if you stay a month or more.
