Great campground for someone with a boat. We stayed right on the waters edge. All parks are well kept and clean. Sites on the west side of the lake are not as popular, but appear newer. Would recommend this state park to anyone with a boat or jet skis. We stayed in a tent.
This is a great campground for families. Kids love the sand dunes and we had the opportunity to see the show at the observatory (A Must See!) The new sites have no shade and had some stickers in the gravel sites. The older camp sites fill up much faster as they have shade. I intend to camp again, but either in the late spring early summer or late summer early fall as it gets very hot. We camped in a travel trailer.
Camp Ground is actually closer to City of Rocks then Castle Rocks, but is a great addition to both parks. Being a brand new park, most don't know about it. The large Juniper trees throughout the park and surrounding area are wonderful, but provide little shade. Sites are all paved with fire pits and picnic tables. Sites are not on top of each other, all paved, level, and well placed in the park. The little town of Almo only adds to the experience. We camped in a travel trailer.
