We have never stopped in this part of the country but decided to visit the battlefields. I want to say 1st I want to rate the campground and then address my problem with their pricing. It is definitely an older CG. No cable TV and not much on the antenna. We had a pull through site which was not that level. Utilities were good and in the right location. It is not a Sat. friendly park as mentioned before it is an older CG with older trees which do grow if not trimmed. It is one of the top rated CG's in the area. Maybe as compared to others in the area it is, but we have traveled the country and feel it is not that good. Now as for the pricing. We used our PPA card. The posted rate is 29.00. Which would be a fair price for this type of CG. What I found out is they then charge a 20.00 a day charge for electric, sewer, and water. Then throw in some local taxes and they have successfully inflated the price and then use the passport discount. Remember the posted rate is 29.00 and we paid 26.00. Don't worry we will not be stopping again.
This is a very nice park. The entry is a little tight especially if more than a couple units are checking in. The office and the staff are excellent. Sites can differ in size but they give you a golf cart to pick yours out. It is not a satellite friendly park. Some sites have too many trees. They do have plenty of TV stations on their CATV. It is a very quiet park. Now for the reason for the 8 rather then a 10. Their ELECTRIC is suspect. There was a previous review that mentioned an electrical problem. We use a 50 amp surge protector and have had a problem with low voltage in this park previously. This time we first had a outlet that was installed upside down. They even give you a picture of the electric breaker because of this. In our case the whole unit was not right. Since these sites are privately owned, I don't know were the responsibility lies. Otherwise it is a great place to stay, but be aware of this problem.
Excellent park. Rate reflects a week rate plus one day. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sites are large and utilities work great. Great clubhouse and pool. Also a very nice hot tub. Probably not an overnight stop but definitely a destination park. Nice golf course adjacent to the park. You do receive a reduced rate for golf. Not much in Elberta, but Foley is right down the road with restaurants and malls. If in the area again we would definitely stop again
We have stayed here before. The rate reflects a week. This is the typical Florida campground. It is very quiet and during the time we were here it was full. Utilities worked fine. There are some sites you can get your satellite dish to work but there are many you can't. My suggestion would be to either put cable in or trim some of the trees. We were on a site that we could not get satellite service, but got good reception with your antenna. Knowing all this, we would probably stop again if in the area
Rate is Passport rate. Only spent one night traveling through. For one night everything was fine. A lady took care of us in the office and escorted us to our site. It was a nice long pull-thru and the utilities worked fine. Pull throughs are a little close but for a night it was okay. We had no problems and would stay here again
Rate is with Good Sam discount. It is okay for one night. We stayed here last year but there seems to be more permanent RV's this year. Office was friendly and helpful. Site was a long pull-through. All utilities worked fine except CATV. It was very snowy and our connection was an inside hook-up left outside which could have been the problem. Because we had stayed here before we tried it again. Might look elsewhere next time.
Rate is the Passport rate. We stayed here last year when traveling through. It is a small park good for an overnight stop. Sites are a mix of grass and stone. We had a nice long pull-through. Utilities were in working order but the water on our site was a little low. It is within a half mile of I-49 but you here no road noise. If in the area we would stay again. We cannot comment on the office because no one was there during our stay.
Not much to chose from in this part of Texas but this place is okay. Only fly in the ointment would be the price. A little pricey but that is KOA. Sites are level and utilities are excellent. Nice long pull throughs. We have stayed here before and will be back when traveling through. It has a great little diner on premise
Found this place on RV review. It is everything positive that has been said about it. Not far from I-20 but very quiet. Nice long pull throughs with all utilities in good working order. Was escorted to our site and as they say " It is the little things that you notice". The escort promptly took his rag and checked the electric box and made sure the water pressure was fine while wiping everything off. We talked to the owners who are a very nice couple who live on the premise. It is very close to a 10 but there is no cable TV. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to anybody.
We stopped for a 2 week stay and spent 5 months. We picked this park because of previous stays in Benson the train noise was a problem. Not so here. Sites are large with gravel and small stone. Sites are raked after someone leaves. Utilities are in the right spots for RVs. We went to various dinners and breakfast as well as other functions and had lots of fun. This cg is set up on the west side of Benson, but up on a hill so the scenery is outstanding. Definitely the best place in Benson and we will be back. Rate quoted is based on a monthly stay
We have submitted a review before that stated we would not return. We decided to give it one more try because it is the closest CG to our daughters. I guess this time we will not be back. It has been well documented about the loud train which runs all night. It has also been mentioned about the very small sites. It will fit your rig but you usually cannot park your vehicle on the site too. I suppose you can park it on the site but you then cannot open the doors to get out. The sites are also at a funny angle to the road which makes it a tough back in. The main reason we will not be back is as follows. They now, if you want to stay a month make you fill out an application which generates a background check. You have to ask what could possibly be the problem if you prepay for the month and put down an electric deposit. The electric rates are almost .20 per kwh, when the residential rate in the area is .12. In some states that is illegal but I don't know about Calif. I would not subject myself to a background check but did ask why this was necessary. I was told " Don't you want to know who your neighbor is" Not really. I guess you could escape from prison and come in and stay a week but then there is no background. Or you could escape from prison and become a work camper and steal everybody's info. In this day to give out personal info is crazy. There is also a waiting list to stay long term. This means the town must have zoned against what they thought would become a trailer park. We have stayed there since it opened when visiting our daughter, and never run into this problem. There are people who have stayed here for more than a year. This alone should make this just another high priced trailer park. I did leave my name and number with the manager, to talk to the owner, but that has not happened. That could be the manager's fault but if the owner is at fault that is not a good business model.
A beautiful CG. We are from out of state and came to visit our son. This state park is one of the best if not the best we have stayed in. Sites are spacious and lots of room between sites. Utilities worked fine. Only reason for a 9 instead of 10 was a model airplane field that started flying early on Sat. morning. Would definitely stay here again
We have stayed at this park before but never again. We will start with the manger who was mentioned in previous reviews. Rude would be an understatement. Then the sites, which are all back-ins at the wrong angle to the road. The regular sites are way too tight. When you park your vehicle on your site you have to be careful not to hit the RV in the site next door. As for the train noise, I thought it was coming through the RV, but they blow the horn so you know they are coming. They will fill up your propane but don't leave a receipt so when you go to pay they will over charge you. Tried to charge us for more than the tank could hold. The exercise room has equipment that has been broken or in need of repair for at least a year. CATV is below basic. For the price you pay I would expect more channels. If you are going to stay for an extended period get ready to give out info you might not want to. Any one giving this place more than a 5 considering all the problems listed needs to get out more. We have traveled the country and these people must be really living in Disney Land
This is a new park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It had only been open a couple weeks. The rates are cheaper in the older section , which is adjacent to the newer one. Not much to do in the town of Ellephant Butte. There is a nice golf course nearby with an excellent restaurant. It was really windy while we were there but we would stay there again.
Just a overnight stop. Sites are set up different but once you understand it is fine. Utilities worked fine. Easy on and off the interstate. Not much to pick from in this part of the state. Stayed here last year. Someone rated this CG poorly because of a personal contact with someone. In my 2 stops I have dealt with the owner or management and have not had a problem. The office is a little older but the CG is fine for an overnight
This was by far the quietest overnight of the trip. Only a mile off the interstate. We were lucky to get a site on a Saturday night. Stayed here last year on our way west. I would recommend to anyone. We will be back.
This is a nice overnight stop. Previous reviewers mentioned the road noise. That seems more so in the rear of the CG. We had a pull-through in the front. There is a junk yard across the street but they aren't open all night. We would definitely stay again.
First I want to rate the CG. It is close to I-40. In fact it is a little too close. Road noise on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being noisy, is a 7. Road into CG is steep. Staff is friendly. Interior roads are gravel, a little bumpy, and turns are somewhat tight. If you have a fixed Sat dish trees may present a problem, but CATV is excellent. Sites are relatively level. It is in my opinion overpriced for what you get. Now about the management. When I checked in and paid for my stay I simply paid. After I looked at the receipt and noticed I was charged a different price for the days during my stay. I asked why this happened. I was told the rate changed during my stay. I was never informed during the reservation process or at check in. There is no weekly rate so they are free to do this. I find this bad business practice and not sure if I'll stay again
We have always camped here on our trip south. The last couple of years we have started to rethink our stop. This last stop made it official. Not again. No receipt, no map, no TV listing. Too many trees. Will definitely go somewhere else.
We have stayed here before but it had been a couple years. It is pricey and there are no weekly rates. Staff is friendly and helpful. You pick from available sites and are allowed to drive a golf cart around to pick the one you like. This park is very clean and well taken care of. The check in area is a little tight especially if multiple rigs are checking in. Access to the main road on or off the island can be a bit of a pain. If in the area we would return.
This is your typical over priced Florida campground. Lets start with the turn in. Poorly designed and very tight. We had to pay for the entire week before arrival, which should have set off the alarms. Arrived on a Sunday and the office was not open. We found our name on an envelope taped to the board. Sites are poorly marked. Was given no map,or any info. It is not sat friendly with lots of trees. They do have CATV. Unit and truck got filthy from all the trees. They turned off the water one day but the only reason I found out was a neighbor told us. Would not stay here again. It is an Encore park but I wonder if anyone ever checks the operation out.
We stayed here a week at the passport rate. It is a nice park. They are trying to sell lots but that is not our thing. A previous reviewer had it right. The front desk needs to be more informative and maybe friendlier. Facilities are good but the water pressure is very low. There was work going on in the park to upgrade some sites that made it very dusty, maybe they could have done it off season. Golf course winds around the park and is reasonably priced for what you get. There are a couple good restaurants in Wauchula but not much else. Bowling Green is a little more than 4 corners. Would stay here again but I don't think we would stay more than a couple weeks.
Just read the last 2 reviews and wondered if they stayed in the same park I did. I actually had to wait to file my review because of the 90 day clause. It is one of my favorite parks as we travel to and from California. Office is always friendly and efficient. Sites are all pull-throughs that are all long and level. Utilities are in good condition. You can pick oranges. Free coffee and donuts in the AM. The people who set this place up must have been an RV'er. I would love to franchise this park and place them all along the interstates. Looking forward to staying here the next time through.
We have stayed here before and this park has slipped. Maybe it is because they filed chapter 11 a couple years back. We called after leaving our previous stop to check on an opening for one night. We were told they were full. A few hours later I called again and was told there were openings. Upon arriving, the first question I was asked was if I still owned the unit we had previously bought here? I said no so we were charged a higher rate. We received no receipt for our payment or a card for the meal plan they offer. This is unusual for a place that prides itself on its friendly atmosphere. I feel the first contact with a customer, especially a potential customer is important. We actually went out of our way to stop here for the specific reason to look at some units I had found on their web site. Their sites in general are smallish. Ours was not even close to level. The sewer hook up is too far in the back of the site. Everyone is parked on the street so this leads to some congestion. There are lots of RV dealers willing to take your money and be a little more friendly.
Another "okay for one night while traveling through". We called but got a answering machine. It told us to "come on in". We got there about 3:30 and the office was closed. There was a gentleman there who told us where to park and gave us an envelope to fill out and just leave our credit card info on it and that would be fine. "I don't think so". We paid him cash and who knows were that went. The facilities are passable. We would not want to be here on a busy week end.
We spent one night traveling east. Our site was a nice long pull-through. It has mostly full-timers. This is not a satellite friendly park. There are too many trees even making driving through a challenge. They do have catv with more than enough channels. One major complaint I have is that the electric box is too close to the ground. My guess would be the outlet was 6 to 8 in off the ground. I like to use my surge protector at all times. I was forced to take a chance. It would seem in wet weather this could be a problem.
We stayed here one night while passing thru the area. I would classify this as an overnight park. We were put in a nice long pull-thru. There are a lot of permanent RV's and a note on the office door that there are no more monthly sites left. It was quiet. The power went out for a couple minutes at least 2x but it was cold and people were probably turning on their heaters. I had our surge protection which is a must when traveling. The lady in the office was very nice and helpful. If in the area we would probably stay again
Not much in this part of Texas. This park is a 1 nighter. Easy access of I-20. All pull-thrus. No CATV but is Sat is great. We paid PA rate. I would not pay 40 for this place. Maybe that is the way, make the price high and then give discounts. Owner on site and very helpful and friendly. All utilities worked fine.
After a long days drive this place was a pleasant surprise. Office very helpful and friendly. This is a southwest CG. All pull-thrus. All utilities worked great. We were there on a very cold night so we disconnected the water. They have a nice little diner right on the premise. Not much in this part of Texas, but this is an oasis in the desert
We stayed here 2 days because of the weather east of us. Very nice smaller cg. They even have an observatory for star watching in the evening. You have to sign up in the office and it is well worth your time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are some pull-through sites and they have back-ins. We will probably stop here again for a longer time and check out the area.
Had left California and wanted to stop and warm up for a week. Stayed 2 weeks because of weather going east. Park is a little older but still nice. Went to 2 dances while there and had a good time at both. They do separate dogs to their own area but I don't mind at all. Best thing about this CG is the people. Everybody is very friendly. Will probably come back next year
We stayed at this park while visiting our daughter. This is by far the best park in the area. We stayed 2 months and found the amenities and staff to be excellent. I did find the standard sites to be a little tight but we were never there. There is some train noise but the trains were there first. Best place to stay is in the back of the cg, it will reduce the train noise. Will definitely stay here again
We love this park. Usually stay on our way to and from Calif. Easy on and off highway. Sites are all large pull-throughs. Always meet some nice people. Staff is friendly and helpful. Will be stopping again on our way through.
We stayed here for 2 weeks. We got the deal, pay for one week and get the 2nd free. That is reflected in the daily rate. We have stayed in 3 upscale parks in Ariz, and this is the best. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sites are large. We stayed in the non-pet area. We have had dogs over the years but when you don't have one, it is nice not to hear them. Golf course is a par 3 but very nice. There is a nice course just on the other side of I-10. Only reason not a 10, there is an agricultural smell that comes in the evening. It is not there every day but I guess it depends on the wind. We would probably hold our nose and stay here again
We stayed 2 nights to check it out. A previous review stated it was living its laurels. I agree. It might have been park of the year a long time ago but not any more. Staff was friendly, but it took way too long to check in. When it is busy that would be a major problem. Sites are smaller than a lot of other upscale resorts. Lots of park models that seem to be on top of one another. Since we were only there a couple days we were in a parking lot. This is an Encore park so they tack on a 3.00 resort fee. This is a principle thing not a monetary issue. We won't stay here again
We were going to stop for just one night but stayed longer. Nice park. Staff great. Ongoing work around the park to make it nicer. The area is nice. Played golf at a new golf course nearby. This is so nice I could see us spending the winter here. You are 2 hours south of Albuquerque and 2 hours from El Paso. Las Cruces is about an hour and a half south. This is a very nice southwest campground. We would definitely stay here again.
Not much to choose from in the middle of Kansas. This was a pleasant surprise. Set up is a little different, but easy in and easy out. Not crowded when we went through so was nice and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.
We have not traveled this way in a while. RV review was a great help. This is a very nice camp ground. We stayed just one night. It is only a mile from the Interstate but no noise. Would stay here again.
This is an excellent park to explore the Asheville area. It is a small park so call ahead for sure. No facilities at this location but they have a full hook-up. Only 5 or 6 sites. We stayed here because our daughter lives in the area and the price is great compared to some of the other parks around Asheville. A previous reviewer complained about the curve in the road at the entrance. You have to be careful. We will definitely stay here again.
We stay at this park every fall when we travel south. I would like to see a choice on this web site for overnight or longterm stays. As an overnight stay this is okay but not long term. Cable TV is limited and many trees would make satellite TV tough. We will stay again. The staff is very nice.
We camped here while visiting relatives in the area. We have camped here before but had stayed at another c/g because of a couple things. There is road noise from I-40 and a smell from a paper mill to the west. It has new owners who are very nice. They are very helpful. We did have a dog who woke us up every morning and should have complained but the owner was a worker in the park. Will probably move on to another cg.
We have stayed at this park previously but it was not a KOA. Since we had a KOA card we did get a discount. That said, the price is too high for this park. Roads are narrow with lots of trees. They also have lots of potholes. Long winding road to our site which was not level. Will probably not stay here again.
A previous review mentioned it was by a Flying J, I believe they meant a Pilot. We spent 6 nights here visiting relatives in the area. They gave us the Passport America discount even though I didn't think it was a PPA park. Pull-throughs are long and level. Sites are close but there is plenty of room between sites. Staff was very friendly. Really not many other places in the area. We would definitely stay there again
A beautiful campground. Off the beaten path a little but well worth the drive. Stayed in a FHU site with a senior rate. Adjacent golf course needs some work, I think the state just took it over. This would be a great place to relax and enjoy nature.
Park is an old trailer park. All the utilities are low to the ground. CATV is very poor. Not much to do in the area. Located right behind Love's. Office recommended an Italian restaurant across the street but it was closed. Not much else in the area. Would do for one night.
We just came in for an overnight. Rate reflects Passport America. Owner and wife were very nice and helpful. Park is a work in progress. We stayed in the rear portion. Cable TV is in but not working yet in the rear section. Front section would probably have road noise, back section has residential noise, like barking dogs. Pick your poison. Not much in Tucumcari; looks like the demise of Rte 66 had a hard hit on the place.
Great overnight stop. Easy on and easy off I-40. Beautiful view of the mountains. Not a destination park but a great place to explore a little. We stayed at the Passport rate. Would definitely stay again.
We camped here for a month. It is only a couple of years old so the amenities are very nice. Setting is very nice and the staff is friendly and nice. I did not give it a 10 for a couple reasons. First, I feel the regular sites are too small for the price. After getting the 5th wheel in we had to squeeze our truck into the space. You could not open the passenger door and had to be careful not to hit the slide of the next door RV with the driver door. Second, there is train noise. It is right across the street and runs any time. Third, they do have cable TV, but it is only 21 channels with no ESPN but does have the cartoon network. Finally if you stay a longer time the electric rate is very high. Almost 19 cents per kwh. Best place in town so we would probably stay again.
Excellent overnight stop. Check in was fast, friendly and efficient. The park is set up with all long and wide pull-throughs. Only drawback was our site had been recently graded and it rained over night making it a little muddy in the AM. We will be staying here again. Great coffee and donuts in the morning.
Park was beautiful. Well maintained and very scenic. We originally paid for 2 nights but did extend 1 more. This is an owner park. It is best to rent long term from an owner. Daily rate is about the same. Many wineries are very close. Only drawback could be that the nearest town is Temecula, which is 18 miles away. We would definitely stay here again for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting.
Sites are large but place is prone to dust. Amenities are nice. We were in an area prone to low flying jets, industrial and road noise. The industrial noise was prone to start early in the morning. We attended 1 hamburger fry and got an outdated soda. Also attended a hot dog cookout and received outdated potato chips. Laundry room is nice but many washers seemed out of order. Went to a community dinner: food was good but did not feel welcome as tables appeared to be saved for others. Has a nice pool and a nice gym. Too many dogs. People are allowed to walk their dog through-out the park, leading to dogs doing their thing on your site.
