Great park, kids everywhere. Within 1/2hour of being there my kids (6 & 8) had found others to play with and were having a great time. We stayed on a lake-view site and it was great, level and very easy to back into. I did notice that there were some sites that were not as level as the one we had. Some really not level. That is the only negative that I could find with this park. I did check out bathhouse, this has to be the largest shower I have ever seen, and very clean. We have already scheduled another long weekend at this park.
We have been to the park numerous times, it is one of the best State Parks in south Louisiana. There is a small motion activated water park for the kids to play in with a playground close by. As some of the other campers pointed out, there is a wooden deck at most sites which is great in less than optimal weather. The nature center is within walking distance of the campground and has planned activities for the kids throughout the day. Make sure to bring bug repellent, as the mosquitos can be fierce during the evening hours. There are only two drawbacks to this campground. There is no playground for the kids within close proximity to the actual campground, you will need to drive to the waterpark area to access the playground. The other is the narrow and rough road you will have to travel to get there. We love this park and come here several times a year.
We stayed here for New Years weekend. The park was recommended by several friends who could not say enough about how nice it was. The park was very clean, but also very small. We have stayed in many Louisiana State Parks, and frankly expected more. The front part of the park is right off of the roadway and the roads are quite difficult to navigate. There are trees in the park (pines) which certainly could have been placed in better spots. Some of these made it very difficult to back into the site. I had to make several adjustments forward and back just to be able to open the slides and extend the awning. There are still several long time residents in the park, which certainly look as though they have been there for a while. The back section of the park certainly looks like it would be the better choice, these sites have a view of the river. It was not a bad experience but just did not live up to my expectations of the other State Parks that Louisiana has to offer.
