First, let me say that this RV Park closed Oct 15. Their listing in the TLD did not list a closing date, so we thought we'd give it a try. The owner came out (lives on site) and encouraged us to stay. No water (pipes had already been winterized), but we had plenty in the tank, so no problem. For $25 per night we got a riverside site with great Wifi connection and very friendly service. Refilled our propane tank for $20 (threw in a can of Skoal for my boyfriend ;-), and checked in on us to make sure we were doing fine this morning. We will definitely return next time we are out this way with the trailer...
The only reason this place does not get a 10 is because of the crazy hours the bathroom is locked down. Don't stay here if you need to use the bathroom facilities during the night because they are closed between 11pm and 6 am each night for security and from 11am to 1 pm for cleaning every day. Other than that, they run a very tight ship. We stayed for about two weeks in site #34, which is located across from the bathrooms and we had consistent and strong Wi-Fi access from that site. It is on Hwy 89, but I have to say, from 11pm to 6 am, there is no traffic on the road: it's very strange. So, even tho you are roadside in many of the sites, it's not loud at night. Also, the landscaping is such that you hardly see anything beyond the park. Pet friendly, extremely clean, and convenient to everything in Kanab.
This is a unique RV park in terms of amenities - the "catch and release" fishing pond is cute, and the landscaping of the center of the park is a very nice touch. We got in after the office was closed. Even though we made online reservations late Friday night, they are closed on Saturdays and never got it, so we arrived and picked a spot. Even though I read a previous review on this site about the new router in the east side of the park, I forgot about it. My bad, as they say. We couldn't get wifi in our site (#21) and had to stand outside or go sit in the commons area to get it. When we did, it (the west side router) was very slow. Might stay again, not sure. We're working, not vacationing, so wi-fi is very important to us. That's the only reason I didn't give this park a 10.
My call for reservations had me worried. The young man who answered the phone seemed to have dyslexia, and could not get the order of the letters I gave him for our last name. It was very frustrating. Then, when he asked for the credit card number, he transposed so many of the numbers I asked to speak to someone else on staff! But, once we got here, the office girl was very efficient and capable. I guess it's a KOA thing to escort you to your site? Unnecessary but a nice touch. The facilities were very clean, and the shower pressure was great. There does seem to be some confusion as to the Wi-Fi policy, though. The staff told us that we got 8 hours for free per computer, and the next 24 hours cost $3. We had some heavy surfing to do, so we paid the $3 and figured we'd use it on one of the computers. When you log into the access window however, it tells you you get the first 24 hours free. We were able to access the internet on both computers for more than 8 hours for free. The connection was available from our site, but it was spotty and unavailable for up to an hour after the office was closed. Then it magically reappeared. We would do this again.
Beautiful park, lots of trees, in fact every site has at least 1 tree. Yes, you can hear the highway but on the flip side, you can get on the hwy very quickly and easily, and it's so humid here (Sep 2006), you have your AC on in the trailer so you don't hear anything but that. People live here but the place doesn't look like a "trailer park." We stayed in site #2, across from the office, restrooms and laundry facility. Restrooms are sparkling clean, and have music piped in! Nice touch. The laundry room is great: $1 for a wash and $1 for dryer. For that you get a 35 minute wash and 60 minutes in the dryer. The Wi-Fi at this site is good but spotty. We use mac powerbooks with airport. I got some signal in the trailer, my boyfriend didn't get any. Sometimes, outside, it's 1 bar, sometimes it's 4 bars, no clue why. You can get propane here, and the cable TV is great. Site is level, nice grassy area, not too many mosquitos or ants. All of the sites appear to be pull throughs which is great for us newbies. Highly, highly recommend this campground. We would definitely stay here again.
