This is a beautiful park and was a life saver after our reservations at another independent campground were not honored. The people were very nice and helpful. I'd love to stay here again, but my only complaint is that they do not take reservations.
We made reservations 3-4 weeks in advance, after several emails and unanswered phone calls. We finally got a hold of a live person (I assume was the owner) and was told that there was full hookups available and no deposit was needed. After a 3.5 hour drive, arriving after dark, we find out that the campground has been booked for months and the host is given NO INFORMATION on reservations from the office/owner AND that this happens all the time. Also, upon arrival, the campground was very dark, the space numbers were hard to find/read, the sign said host was at space 8 when actually there were in space 7. When trying to call the office/owner, I was unable to get a hold of anyone. Since this is the first time trying to stay at a Passport America campground, I will think twice about using another Passport America campground as this reflects poorly how one does business. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND OR TRY TO STAY HERE AGAIN. Fortunately the state park around the corner had available sites, yet not the full hookups we originally wanted.
I felt the price was high considering there was no sewer hook up. And the honey wagon cost me $10, not $5 as quoted on the phone or from what other readers paid. That is the main reason for my low overall rating. Sites were close together. Some sites had trees, others did not. Staff was friendly.
The campground was clean and well kept. The bathrooms were clean. The sites were fairly close together. Although the quiet hours are 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., the campground is surrounded by an industrial area, so we heard trucks and trains throughout our stay. The site was adequate and we would stay here again.
We stay here when we are going to the agility trials at Camp Bandy. We never have had any problems with the sites, bathrooms are clean and we have always had hot water. Sites are big/roomy. People are friendly. Although no water hook ups there is water available to fill up your water tank and there is a dump station. We will be staying here again.
This campground claims to be pet friendly, yet they wouldn't let me stay because my miniature schnauzers MAY bark. OK I know that schnauzers have a reputation, but not all dogs fit the profile and my dogs may bark when they are excited, but they always calm down. And since I am attending an AKC agility trial, I would be gone most of the day: WITH MY DOGS! Do they kick someone out for sneezing? Or kids for screaming, as they do when they get excited, just like dogs bark when they are excited? I camp quite a bit with my dogs and I have never had anyone complain about my dogs barking too much. I am very respectful and keep my dogs quiet, on leashes and clean up after them.
