This RV campground is in a good location. The hookups worked, but use a regulator because the water pressure is quite high. The sites are the smallest I've ever encountered, with no room even for picnic tables. The road pavement is deteriorated, go slow. We only stayed here because the folks we were with wanted full hookups. I'd highly recommend booking early for summer spots.
I give this park a low rating for two reasons: 1) they have a completely unenforced quiet time policy. We were kept awake until 1 AM by a loud reunion crowd next to us. 2) There only two showers for the whole camp, and they are very primitive and crude. The camping is unique-- a very large grassy field with full hookups around the edges. Some spots have shade.
We wanted to visit Monterey, and this was the closest RV park that didn't charge a ludicrous nightly rate. First the good news: friendly, helpful staff, everything clean and well maintained. Shopping and gas very close. Now, the rest of the story: This park is right next to a very Loud stretch of Hwy 101, complete with big rigs hitting Jake brakes, and a serious Harley and cafe-racer infestation. The back-in sites 106-120 are a bit less cramped and a little further from the freeway. Also, their much-hyped pool is Seasonal, Summer only We missed it by a week, even though the weather was still very warm (80's) while we were there. I don't see us ever using this place again.
As many have said, a very clean, well-maintained park, and it's right on the Middle Fork Feather River. Staff was friendly and helpful to us. My only gripe is that, like so many RV parks, the spaces are tighter than I'd like.
This place knows that they have very little competition, especially for lodging near the north entrance of Yosemite. We stayed one night in Oct. 2008 in a cabin, very small in size for the money. I agree totally with the earlier reviewer who said "When a park requires you to pay in full before you arrive, a red flag should go up." We brought our dog, thinking the $25 we were charged for her was a refundable cleaning deposit. Warning, it's not. IF YOU BRING A DOG, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU A $25 "CLEANING FEE" FOR A CABIN. The clerk was indifferent and unapologetic to our surprise and unhappiness over this charge. We will not stay there again.
