I agree with some of the recent posts. The park is under-going needed improvements. We were excited to find that they have added some 50 amp sites. There are only a couple of them so far, but the staff promises that more will be added in the future. We were disappointed however that there is no more WiFi in the lodge. I was told that this will return with other improvements. Overall, this is a nice place to stay outside of the L.A. area. It’s high enough to escape the heat & the smog. Fall is the best time to visit, as that’s when apple season is in full swing. Apple Annie’s Restaurant nearby serves delicious home cooked meals. Their bakery is irresistible as well. Expect to wait in line during the fall. Everything is within walking distance, we don’t even drag our car along anymore.

We stayed in this park as Thousand Trails members. Like most Thousand Trails parks, staffing and funding have been significantly reduced. The Rancho Oso staff have done a fine job however with their limited resources. The park is clean and well maintained for the most part. The pool is inviting and the little store is well stocked. All of the RV sites have an exceptionally clear view of the southern sky, so satellite reception is a breeze. The adult lodge is very clean and has WiFi. The park overall is quiet and relaxing. The access road entering/leaving the park can be tight and hazardous. Meeting another RV will require a great deal of maneuvering. If you tow a car behind your motorhome, I highly suggest that you disconnect it before taking the access road. You can do this on Paradise Road, about 2 miles south of the park. That way you have the option of backing up should you meet another RV.

We last visited this park 8 years ago. Then, the park was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed it so much that we almost didn’t feel the need to drive into Yosemite. Our recent visit was drastically different. The park was unmaintained and understaffed. The grounds are unkempt and dirty looking. The family lodge was nothing like it use to be. Half of it is boarded off, the other half is empty. There are zero activities and no more paddle boats or swimming. Park security is non-existent. The security gate is un-manned and left open 24/7. Anyone can enter the park at their own free will, and roam around unchallenged. This would be an ok place to stay for one night. Personally, we will not return.
