First the good. Easy access in and out for large rigs. Our site was level and most seemed to be as well. Plenty of space between sites and some have a common grassy area in between and in back for kids to play. Bathrooms were clean and functional. Springs are about a 10 minute walk from RV sites or a quick bike ride. You can also drive to the springs with plenty of parking. There is a small grocery store just down the street and you can get to Walmart/Publix in Ocala in about 35 minutes or so. There is no laundry facility. A laundry mat is two minutes down the road from main gate. Now the bad. We’ve been coming to Salt Springs since the 80’s although not much recently. The current management is terrible. Within five minutes of arriving at our site and while still attempting to get the coach lined up properly we were approached the first time by the “staff” on a golf cart. The ladies took several minutes explaining the parking procedure in great detail to include the tire rule about how many of your tires can be on the dirt and off the pavement. This first lecture occurred while these ladies were affixed to their golf cart on the grass! The camping trip included multiple families and lots of children and equipment. The next several days included more visits by the campground staff (work campers from American Land & Leisure?) who were quick to point out each and every violation of their over 30 rules. Our violations included young kids roaring with laughter at 10:05 when quiet time is at 10, and more serious violations of parking on the grass. There are too many stories of these encounters to list here. The oldest child in our large group was 11. There were 20 plus kids running around and 10 plus RV sites reserved. The staff here has or is trying to turn this place into a cemetery. The staff behavior was witnessed by a lot of people both in and outside of our party with amazement. They are a bunch of militant retirees riding around on carts just waiting to display their disdain for laughter and other people. They appear to cater to other seniors who stay in their RV’s for 23 hours a day and only come out to walk a two pound dog or leave in their cars. We’ll be addressing our concerns with American Land & Leisure and the National Park Service and won’t return under the current system and neither will any of the others.

We stayed on a creek side site with other friends near by. Easy access and good signs marking the campground location. Friendly staff and nice facilities. We used the pool, ball field, fishing pond and putt putt golf and the kids loved them all. This facility is close to Helen (tubing) and many other recreational opportunities. I would give it a perfect rating if the laundry room had normal hours or was arranged for campers to use it when convenient. It's only open when office is open (days) and closes an hour before the office does. Most of our large gathering went to town to find a laundry mat. We will return and recommend to others.

Used this campground for an overnight stay while traveling on I-75. Close to 75. The owner(s) were friendly and helped get us to the site. The pool was nice although dated. The bathroom was clean and has a locked door. The office during check in smelled like a wet/dirty dog. As previously mentioned, the roads are dirt and uneven. Low tree branches and lots of red ants that infested our RV even after trying to spray. There were beer bottles and cigarette butts in the grass near our site. There are old trailers that look like they were there from a trailer park. There were people (not campers) staying in some of the smaller permanent structures and not many (if any) other non-permanent campers present. The campground needs a lot of work. We would not return.

The park was was easy to find with well placed signs showing the turns. Check in was quick and easy. The staff showed us to our sight. The lion safari next door was great. We used the passes obtained from the campground which were included with the stay to go two days in a row. Loved hearing the lions in the morning and night. The bathrooms were clean as well as the separate showers. The only things that we found odd was the pool closes at dusk (not much else to do) and there is no cable TV, although our regular antenna picked up a few digital stations. Overall a nice place to stay to see the safari next door.

We needed a site for one night while traveling to NC. As others have indicated, the entrance is a little tricky at night as two roads will get you to the same location. Easy access and well lit. We had reservations with a late arrival noted. There wasn't a sole around when we arrived. The one night stay sites are up front and easy to use. The bath house doors were open and there was no A/C of any kind. Kind of different for Florida in July. Since we had full hook ups, it didn't really matter. At daylight we checked out and paid for the night. Nice guy in the office took the money. Again the door was wide open to the office with no A/C. Kind of different for Florida in July. All in all it was sufficient for a one night stay.

Staff was helpful and friendly on check in. A worker escorted us to our site. Easy access in and out of the park from I-75. We stayed one night during rip from NC back to Florida. Sewer, water, electric and cable TV all worked well for our stay. We used the pool which was clean and nice. The bathrooms and showers were clean and locked with code given for access. Our only complaint as others have stated is the gnats are unbelievable! They will swarm every inch of your body (at least in July) as you set up, take down and do anything else outside. All in all it was fine for a one night stay while traveling through. We would return for a one night stay.

The staff was friendly and helpful during check in. A staff member escorted us to our site with a golf cart which was nice due to tight spaces and it being our first visit. Our back in site was down by the creek and had 30 amp electric, water and sewer. We took advantage of tubing from Deep Creek all the way back to the campground which was great. We rented tubes from the office and they have a nice store with basic items including ice. Verizon air card worked well at campground. Kids loved the playground area and riding bikes. Modest but clean bathrooms and showers. The only negative for us was the sites down by the river are close. There is very little privacy and you will be looking at your neighbors sewer line/hose. The view of the creek made it worth while.

Second stay here. The campground has easy access. Our site was level and everything worked. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We didn't use the pool due to the cold weather. The bathrooms were clean and are individual units with shower/toilet. They are a little cramped for a big person. We used the laundry facilities which were clean. Appreciated the recycle bins located near the trash area. We walked to the beach several times from our site which is only several blocks away. This is a great campground for visiting the area and doing things in Savannah and Hilton Head etc. I would not recommend for persons who are taking a trip just to stay in a campground due to the fact that the sites are very close together and there is little privacy between them. We stay here to do things in the area and would return.

We have been going here for years. If your looking for a paved site, cable and good internet/cell reception this place isn't for you. The camping loops and sites are all dirt once you leave the main entry roads. They are nicely shaded. We used the springs, walked on the boardwalk to the Suwanee River day and night, ran the trails and had a blast. Deer walk right up to your campsite here. Our site was level and not a problem if you don't mind using a broom and leaving your shoes outside. Some of the loops are pretty tight and not big rig friendly. We will return.

Second visit here. Stayed on site 331 which was right on the lake. Enjoyed every bit of this trip. Bathrooms were clean. Used our Verizon air card with no problem. Bought the week passes for the attractions and did all of those as well as going to Atlanta. A few potholes here and there but not a big deal. A great place for running and biking as well. Used the exercise paths many times that are packed with people. Great place for kids, ours love it. Spring break trip for a week. Will be back.

We have been camping here for years. We are happy that it is back to the way it was with non-commercial owners. It is a great place for kids, quick last minute trips and gatherings with family and friends. There are many ways to be next to your friends while camping. Clean pool and facilities. Nice check in staff. Will be back and would recommend to others.

Nice park with many things to do. Do not like the current reservation system. First come first serve basis. Reservations only include a site and are not specific. We were stuck with small sites that were hard to get into.

We have been camping at Manatee Springs since 1989. This is a great Florida State Park. We have seen Manatee while walking on the boardwalk. The deer walk right up to your campsite. This is a sandy place with some tight turns but I can do it with a 30' TT and full size truck. Great place for kids.
