The park was well kept and clean. It had great views of the lake from every spot. There was a granite hill that was fun to climb. There were lots of burs in the grass that we had to pull out of our dogs fur every time she went out. There was plenty of space for the kids to play. The sewer connection was very far from the electric and water hookup. I had to go buy a longer sewer hose. It would be more fun here if you had a boat or if they offered boat rentals. They definitely need a pool. We would go back, but take a boat next time.
Our first impression made us question our choice of camp ground, as all we saw was a crowded parking lot, that was completely full of RVs. As we walked around, we realized that it is only a short walk to the beach. The sand dunes prohibit you from seeing the beach from your site. The pool was one of the best I've ever seen. We started liking where we were. There were lots of young families like us. The campers were very friendly. The office staff could be a little nicer, but we didn't have any problems. The trolley does stop at this campground. Its a short distance to town. On weekends, the campground kitchen sells burgers and such at a reasonable price. After driving around town, we realized this was the best park. We had a great time and would definitely go back!
Stickers or prickers! Call them what you'd like, but this park is covered with them. This made it difficult for our kids or dog to play outside. The office/store was a nice first impression. The park was not crowded at all, which baffled me as to why they put me in the spot they did. We paid for a premium site. Someone escorted us to the top of the hill to our site. The some roads are paved, but some are gravel. Most of the sites are granite gravel pads. I had a difficult time getting in my site as it was so tight. There was a telephone pole within 5 feet of my door, which prohibited me from extending my awning. The view was pretty, but I could only enjoy it from inside the trailer. We went to the pool, which was surrounded by cheap, rotted, plastic patio chairs. The pool was one of those fiberglass pre-fab pools that they sell on the side of the highway. It was not level in the ground and was very small. The staff was friendly, and worked hard. My thought is they need more than one grounds person for this entire park. They need to work on their grass too. For the price they charge, we expected a lot more. Its seven miles from town. We really enjoyed visiting Bourne, but would choose a different camp ground next time.
This was a great destination! The pool was clean and big enough to accommodate multiple families. The Clubhouse game room was awesome, as it included video games, pool tables, air hockey and skee ball. The playground had commercial grade playground equipment and was also very clean. The cabins would be great to invite friends for family that don't have an RV. The sites were all very nice and easy to pull in. They even included a cement patio area. We used the free Sea World shuttle, which was very accommodating and on time. We have nothing bad to say about this place. We will definitely be back next year!
I came here after leaving another unsuitable campground. I received pleasant service. This campground has huge shade trees. There are no mobile homes, but there are permanent campers. Some have older RVs. It is across the interstate from I-27, so you do hear jets. Fortunately, Lubbock International is not that busy of an airport. There is some highway noise as well, but its not too bad. The pool was not appealing. I had to use the washing machine and had to clean the dog hair off first. I was given a back in spot, which was very tight.
I was hugely mislead by these park reviews. Upon my entrance, I saw as many mobile homes as travel trailers. Streets are curbed for what is clearly set up for permanent residents. I was disappointed at the number of very old RVs and older trailer houses. I decided to find another place to camp. I will admit, the park is conveniently located. Its not my idea of "RVing".
The park itself was very nice. The grounds were well kept and the facilities were like new. The restrooms were plush. Both swimming pools were great! The campgrounds are covered with security cameras. However, there is significant highway noise from Interstate 35. There is a greenbelt that blocks the view of the interstate. Every single space was occupied when we were there. Since the spaces are so close together, it seemed a little crowded. The amenities were not crowded despite the number of campers in the park. Last, there was a foul odor coming from what appeared to be a black water treatment plant hidden near our campsite and near the family pool. We would go again for a weekend to enjoy the pool.
We stayed here during the "Night In Old Fredericksburg" festival, which was down town. We had read that it was within walking distance from down town. Another review said it was 1 mile. It was actually 1.25 miles. Going to town was all down hill. Coming home was all up hill. I figured it was good exercise. It definitely wouldn't be for everyone to walk. The campground host gave us a business card of a taxi service if needed. The campgrounds were very well kept and clean. The trees are young and provide very little shade. If you're planning to hang out at your trailer all day, you may want something a little more scenic. If you need a convenient, safe and clean place to stay with great customer service, I highly recommend this place. There is a miniature golf course next door. They were very accommodating for a late check out. They offer coffee every morning in the office for all guests. We will definitely go back.
The park was beautiful with lots of shade. The majority of the trees are cedar, so bring your allergy medicine. The lake water was very clear. The spaces are spread apart. The park was full, but still very quiet. We tried to go to the camp store and it said closed for the season. Not sure what season they are open. There were no boat rentals as advertised. I guess they were out of season too, (in June???). My son and I fished and caught lots of perch from the shore. We saw 2 water moccasins in the lake while we were fishing. We saw a squirrel and racoon at our campsite. We would definitely go again.
