We camped here over the Memorial Day weekend. The staff were very friendly and noted all the details at the park upon check-in. We were escorted to our site by one of the staff members and were guided as we backed our camper into the site. We had a river site which was spacious, shaded and fairly level. It was definitely a treat to be able to walk out the door and to the river, no woods, bushes etc in your way. The bathrooms here are one of the best kept we have ever seen. Attention to detail was the key here in our opinion. We would have given this park a '10' rating but there were no firepits on any of the sites although we did notice you could rent one from the office. We always ask about firepits and if fires are allowed so we were prepared as we brought our own. They offer free Wi-Fi and the reception at our site was good. We would definitely camp here again.
We camped here over the Labor Day weekend. We made reservations and were given a site but when we arrived, they had assigned us another one. We happen to be staying in the 'buddy section' of the park. The site was rather small and you could hear and see everything your neighbors were doing. It was a grass site which was nice but had poor fire rings or should I say just a circle of rocks set up to be a fire ring. We got lucky in a sense as we were next to some real nice people who have taking to the roads full-timing. Next time we will definitely reserve a stream side site.
Overall, this campground is pretty nice. I would have rated higher but the roads throughout the property are not the best I've seen. I felt they should have made the main roads one way, if you were to meet another vehicle there would be no way to maneuver around. The site was a little tight to get into and required some back and forth driving to get our trailer in place. For the most part, the sites are not very level. We had a spacious site with a view of the lake one road over. The hosts were friendly. We plan on returning.
Mama Gerties campground is a very nice place. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. The roads in the campground are rather steep, definitely not made for riding bikes. We were escorted to our site which for the most part was pretty level, just needed to raise the right side of the trailer a little bit. I agree with the other reviews in regards to the bathhouse; clean, spacious showers and bathrooms. It appears they are planning on adding more sites even higher up on the mountain. We were able to walk up there and it is quite a hike on foot but the view is unbelievable. We will definitely come back and hope at that time the future sites will be open.
