One of my favorite places to camp. Shuttle bus takes you right over to the boardwalk for the kids to play. Can be a bit noisy for some on holiday weekends, but still a fun place camp!!
Koa would be fine for a quick over night stay. The weekend we were there they had some sites rented to guys that had a generator and welder goig all day building a hauler bed on a truck. I was a bit confused, did I book at a campground or a metal fab shop?? I believe that the campground has since changed hands so maybe it has improved.
Very clean and scenic Koa!! Owners are polite and are there to help. Only complaint is the sites are a bit small, was likely fine in the days of no slides and big buses.
Location is nice by Starved Rock, but the customer service is terrible. After staying there a few times and talking to the owners, I had thought they were good people, I was WRONG. I called early to change a reservation due to a sick child and was treated very poorly, they could not care less. The funny thing was since they would not change my reservation, I took my other child out and my wife stayed at home. I got there and they had rented my RESERVED site!! I demanded my site and they asked the other guy to leave. I felt bad, but I was not going to lose money. So they got my $27 for that night and I spent all night just telling my story. Hopefully the $27 they got has cost them much more in the long run.
