This campground caters to its seasonal sites. Not very many over night sites available. If you get a site on the river the view is amazing. Stayed here because it's local to family activities. Didn't notice any planned family activities. Restrooms are outdated but for the most part clean. Definitely caters to seasonal sites and not the traveling camper. I would not recommend this campground unless you need a place to lay your head for local activities.
The facilities at this campground are NOT top notch, however as a repeat camper for years, it's the friendly staff keeps me coming back yearly. There is great fishing in the Lake and local ponds nearby. There are NO planned activities for the family or kids. It's merely a basic park without all the hustle and bustle of typical campground resorts. Water, electric and sewer are available on most all sites. Mini golf and a CLEAN pool are available. The game room is quite outdated as well as the restrooms. I would recommend this campground if you would like a nice quiet getaway from the sometimes hectic resort campgrounds.
This is, by far my favorite campground to date. The natural beauty of the island has been drawing me back since childhood. You must book in advance (1 year) to get the best sites. If done correctly you can have a site that over looks the ocean and have the sounds of the waves put you to sleep at night. If star gazing, expect to see many shooting stars in the evening hours. The restrooms and hot showers are cleaned daily. Although there is not much shade, a small shade tent will give you a place to keep out of the sun. The horses, sika deer and whitetail deer WILL pass by your site! Only one down fall is that the posted speed 10 mph limits are there for the safety of Campers as well as wildlife: they shoot radar and will not hesitate to give you a ticket if you go 1 mph over. Mosquito's are not as bad as some claim them to be, unless you get a bay breeze. Only limited electric is available in loop H. Other than that, it is "NO" electric water or sewer. There are dump stations located thoughout park that are free to use. I would recommend this park to everyone to at least experience once.
This is one of our favorite parks. Great for kids and a ton of family oriented events are planned for the weekends. Easter weekend was a blast. The Adult Easter egg hunt is a memory that will live in my mind forever. Excellent game room and mini golf course. Staff was very friendly and one staff member (informative and gentlemanly) will keep us coming back. I would recommend this park to anyone who has kids as they have a ton of activities to keep the kids busy for the entire stay.
This campground was a very pleasant stay. The service of the employees is top notch. And also thought it was great that the prices in the camp store were VERY reasonable. Due to that fact we ended up purchasing over $100 in items. Most sites were large enough, however a few on the stream side were a bit tight for our Rockwood roo. Staff was very courteous! They even followed us to site and guided us in.
This was the worst camping trip I've had in my 20 years of camping. The manager/owner of this park made it very clear this was his park! Instead of approaching his fellow campers with courtesy, he approached with a very unfriendly attitude. We were chased down by a golf-cart and reprimanded in front of other guests and he threatened to call the police due to an undefined campground policy. The sites around #73, were less than 20 feet across and un-level. Everyone had to wear wristbands "even while sleeping" because this Campground wants to make as much money as they can from day visitors, and needed to distinguish them from campers. We were checked constantly and reprimanded (told we would have to leave) if we didn't wear these unsightly wristbands. Keep in mind, we along with 4 other family's here, spent at least $1500 for this vacation getaway to go tubing down the local river. We were also reprimanded for having a fence up around our site so it would keep our pet safe from the Doberman pincers a few sites down. This was my first trip at a KOA and it will be the last, all due to the mannerisms of staff and managers of this park. Although we had a great time at River Riders, local flea markets, local ghost hunting, and civil war museum on site. However, we would return to this campground and other KOA's if the manager/owner learned how to speak to his Paying Guests. A campers word goes a long way.
