Very spacious sites for a State Beach campground. Some sites had up to 3 RV/Trailers on one site! Stayed in site 93, backs to Coast Hwy but very nice. Definitely prefer the South end of the campground with walk out access to Beach rather than the bluffs of the North end of campground. Dogs permitted on beach "on leash only" south of LG Tower 16. Showers were always hot, token operated, which are purchased at campground office. Only upgrade I would like is to have POWER at every site. Some sites have full hookups but are hard to get. Just to have power would be a great upgrade. Get your chairs and umbrellas on the beach early to secure your spot for the day, can get crowded on weekends. Public crosses through campground for beach access, so can get busy. For SoCal State Beach camping this is one of the best experiences for our family.
Stayed here for a retirement party get together combined with Disneyland trip. Very clean campground. Friendly welcoming staff at the front office. Stayed in a premium pull through site and it was worth it. Sites were spacious, bathrooms and showers were convenient and very clean. Shuttle service to Disneyland was $4 per person. Very convenient compared to $15 to park at Disneyland. One upgrade I would suggest is to fence the property from the street access but other than that, not one complaint. I would stay here again if I were going to Disneyland for several days.
Stayed here for 4 nights in beachfront site #60. Next to public path to beach access resulted in many people cutting through the back or our site through our campfire/chairs and picnic table area. Minor bummer but not too bad. Major negative for a couple of sites is that they have beach showers, for spraying off after a swim, installed right in the back of the sites where you put your tents and picnic table/chairs. These are not marked on the campground map online or in printed version. I would have been very disappointed to show up and have that in my site. Campground has 2 shower buildings at either end of the camp with 6 showers at each building. $.25 for 2.5 minutes and it was always warm water, which was nice. Not bad, but did get lines at prime shower time in evenings. One shower building had 3 showers out of service so could have been overflow too. They do not police the amount of people allowed at each site so it gets really crowded from Friday - Sunday. Beach is a shore break which makes it rough for young kids to play in and very rocky with little pebbles in the break. Good sand castle building though. Would only stay here if have a beach front site, which is a $$ premium.
Would not recommend this campground. The restrooms are used by the areas homeless population on a daily basis. Plus the showers are pay showers so people that are camping in the sand dunes on the beach come in to use the showers all day long. High amount of foot traffic in and around the entire campground. Never felt comfortable. My kids were bullied by older kids when they tried to play on the playground. There is a bridge next to the campground that had it's daily bridge residents talking to themselves. Police activity is constant in and around the campground. Would never return to this area again. Very disappointed.
Great overnight stop along I-5 in the Central Valley (Patterson) area. Very clean shower/bath. Close walk to many different restaurants. New enclosed dog run and playground. Only problem was lots of field mice. Place is newly built in what was once a field, so lots and lots of mice are still running around everywhere so my dog had a great time chasing them. It would not deter me from staying here again, as this was a great mid-way point between SoCal and NorCal. Easy on and off the freeway, clean showers, pull through site. Wonderful staff, very welcoming and nice. Large trees are placed throughout the park and once the young trees start to grow there will be more shade offered. That's key in an area where it's usually over 100 degrees all summer long. I would highly recommend this place to rest your head for the night during a road trip through California.
Stayed here over the July 4th holiday for one week. Will definitely come again. Had a waterfront site. Each site has a campfire pit. Wonderful family atmosphere. One main restroom/shower building and port-a-potties located throughout. Weekend brings in a lot of campers so hot water at night on a weekend is hard to come by, but otherwise nicely cared for. Wi-fi service is only available around main office/check-in building. Laundry facility is available at the office, and they sell detergent in their little store. Playground on premises. Boat slips are available as well for a fee; they also charge to launch. We launched across the lake at the free launch and drove over to dock in a slip. No sewer hookups on any site but if staying for 1 week they offer a pump out of your holding tanks for free. If you need more than one pump out they will do for an additional fee. Dump station on site as well near front gate. They are strict on rules about visitors, etc. But it's worth it to keep the nice family atmosphere. Hope to be back next year!
Stopped here for 1 night on our way from South to North California. Easy pull through sites; did not have to unhook from trailer. Newly built enclosed dog park/play area was great. Volleyball court, tennis court and pool were all open and usable. Quite a ways off I-5 on Highway 12, then on to a little country back road, but GPS got us to it. If you need a place to stay for 1 night and don't want to unhook this would be a good choice.
