This has to be the worst State park I have ever stayed in. It was absolutely filthy. The first site we tried to back into was way too short for our trailer. I went to the office and the rude young lady told me she was leaving and I had to decide between the site that was too short or one that was on an incline. I picked the one on the incline because I could not get into the first site, although I was very specific with the reservationist I spoke to on the phone. The campground was packed with families. Our fire pit was full of empty plastic bottles from the previous camper. I can't imagine what the camp host job is? It certainly is not to pick up trash. The sites are poorly marked. People park everywhere. This was my first experience at a MI state park. I sure hope all the parks in MI are not like this one, since I will be here 2 months. I would never stay here again.
The only reason I did not give this park a 10 was because we had no shade in the site we were in. These are newer sites and the trees are not tall enough yet. The is one of the nicest parks I have stayed in. Super nice, helpful people at the front desk, probably family members. If you know you are going to be in the area you can call beginning January 2nd for a reservation in that same year. Try to get one of the sites in the first 3 circles or on the island. These sites are some of the best I have ever seen. Super shady and the landscaping is beautiful. I did not call far enough ahead to get a shady spot but WOW, I will next time. Bathrooms are old but super clean. I was so impressed with this park that I will be on the phone Jan. 2nd of next year to book a week. Stay here, you will not be sorry. Great wi-Fi, cable TV, and close to a large grocery store and gasoline. They also have propane on site and a dumping station if you need it.
Large campground and convenient to Mackinaw Island. You can purchase ferry tickets to the island here for a small discount. $2 off each adult ticket if you purchase at campground. Free shuttle will take you to the ferry. We paid for a view of the lake and bridge. We did have a nice view but were very close to our neighbors. They really pack you in here. We could hardly put our awning out. Very nice young people working in the office. No cable but our antenna worked well. Wi-Fi works great but you can only use one computer per coupon. Additional computer is $2 per 24 hours. Nice place to stay if you only want to use it as a base camp to visit Mackinaw Island. No ambiance. We will not stay here again because it was just too crowed for our taste and we thought the price was very high for the site we had.
Wow, what a beautiful park! I have visited many Colorado State parks but none that are as nice as this one with the views so spectacular. We stayed in the Pa Co Chu Puk campground, loop G and had a site on the Uncompahgre river. Sites are concrete and asphalt, level, full hookups. Park is very well maintained. Spotless restrooms, shower, and very nice clean laundry area. This park is at the top of my favorite parks in Colorado. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only reason I did not give it a 10 was no Wi-Fi or cell service where we were. I could not even use my Verizon card. We stayed here for 4 days and I would return tomorrow if I could.
We wanted to be in the National Park of Zion so we chose to stay at the Watchman Campground. Sites are spaced nicely but it was very hot this June and no shade. We were in loop A, Site 7. We actually walked around to see if there were any sites with shade and we saw only one, that was site 5 (next to us) and it was only in the corner. The park has just finished brand new restrooms and they opened while we were here. Very nice but I did not see any showers. We had a spot on the Virgin river but you cannot see the river from the sites. Nice park for the price and convenience. Free shuttles are right next door and they will take you anywhere in the park. We will camp here again but in a cooler month. No cell phone service in the site we were in.
The bathrooms and showers were some of the cleanest I have ever seen. Each bathroom is an individual room. Very nice and roomy. Very well maintained, extremely quiet and beautiful view of the desert. I would definitely stay here again. Extremely nice man at the front desk. Gas and air are available at the office. I stayed here one night and would definitely stop here again. The restaurant is no longer in the office area so make sure you have groceries with you. They have a few essential items for purchase so that you won't starve. Level gravel sites. Go see the Crater if you stay here. You can get a 20% off coupon at the RV park.
This is a very nice park. I looked for many hours around the LA area before I decided on this park. This is an expensive area and this park is a great bang for your buck, if you have to stay near LA. Great shade trees. The Wi-Fi sometimes did not work but was very good the closer to the office you are. I stayed in site 137: very nice and shady, also good Wi-Fi here. Spaces are close but nice picnic tables between them. Probably one of the nicest staff at any park I've stayed in. My rate was with my KOA card. Trees drop some sap but they will let you wash your RV's and vehicles right at your site. Clean restrooms and fresh flowers! Very clean and well maintained park. Sites are level and paved. Some road noise and it is near a small airport so you will hear the planes fly over but that is only during the daytime. I turned my fan on and had no issue with any noise. This is definitely a repeat for me.
The only good thing about this park is that it is inside the Grand Canyon Park. You must pay $25 per vehicle to enter the park for a week. That is on top of the $37 per night charge for an uneven, crowded, no shade spot in Trailer Village. My hookups were uphill from the only somewhat level place to park my trailer. We would have to get out and hold up our sewer hose to get the water to drain into the hole. Not fun. This park needs to be updated. The location is great but the staff is not helpful and sites are very close and narrow. I would not camp here again. I would stay outside the park and catch the free shuttle into the park.
I was all excited to stay here after reading some of the reviews already posted but, I have to say I was disappointed. NO shade anywhere, the sewer we hooked up to had a foul odor, and the young lady at the front desk must have been really burned out on RVers. She was no help at all and charged me $2 more than the rate I was quoted on the phone. I felt it was way overpriced for what you got although it was nice to have cable TV and the Wi-Fi worked well. I will not stay here again.
