Sites are adequate, but not large in the wooded section of the campground. Our site was not very level, no picnic table at our site initially - borrowed neighbor's after they offered it up as they were leaving. Bathrooms are spotless and up to date. Playground consists of small metal swing set and badminton/volleyball net. Nice large field to play in. Very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Quiet, simple campground that provides the basics. It is a beautiful area and this campground does a nice job at preserving a natural setting. Not for those who need scheduled activities and lots of amenities. Staff is very helpful and pleasant, knowledgable about the area. We look forward to a return trip.

Overall a beautiful park. Nice large sites, but in newer section there is little shade. Activities are spread out - campground is far from the large pool complex. We found the pool very crowded during the weekdays before 3pm and on the weekends. We enjoyed the Nature Center. Found that the trails were not well marked and the trail maps are poorly done and outdated. Enjoyed the community outdoor movie. Staff was generally pleasant and helpful, but not necessarily knowledgable about the area. We will return to this park.

Great park! We stayed in the Red Oak section - nice large gravel sites, wooded, level, good drainage. Bathhouse was very clean. Tubed on the river both days we were there. Enjoyed bluegrass music in the outdoor amphitheater one night, visited the Nature Center and spent time with a very knowledgable ranger, hiked and biked on the trails. Trails and entire park is very well-maintained, all rangers and camp hosts very hospitable and helpful. Although there is no pool, at both Dixon's Landing and the Canoe Livery there are good swimming areas that all ages can enjoy. We will definitely return to this park!

We used this as a base camp over Labor Day weekend to explore the area. Granted the weather was lousy for most of our stay but was not overly enthusiastic about this park - sites were small, but level. Seemed like lots of additional charges for everything - miniature golf, fee to go to the ice cream social, not sure if there was a fee to attend the movie - we didn't go. I thought, outrageous price for firewood - $7.50 /bundle. I know the weather was difficult for everyone, but the staff seemed put out whenever anyone went into the office/store to get something. The store was well-stocked, although expensive. One computer available in game room for internet access. Playground was easily accessible and kid friendly. Thought laundry facilities were dated and too expensive. Showers and bathrooms were clean although not much water pressure in my shower. They did plan a carnival one day although we did not stick around for that - had a fantastic day at the Renaissance Fair instead. Again, our weather was lousy, but not sure that we would choose this as a destination again.

We stopped at this state park on a whim for an overnight and what a treat that was! The original site we were offered was too close to a road for our children and we asked to change - no problem - I picked the one we wanted and the change was easily made. I'm sure this would not have been able to happen had it been a busy time, but the staff was very accommodating. Sites were a bit small, but nice, level and shady with plenty of green space close by to play in. Free Wifi available at our site, no problem. Shower facilities standard state park, but clean and plenty of water with good pressure. We were there at the end of the season during the week so it was pretty quiet and can see how it might be a busy place during peak times. We took a day trip to Kelly's Island - great fun! Our first trip to this area and we only wish that we had been able to stay longer - East Harbor Sate Park is a place we will definitely return to!

We made an overnight stop here and although it was just adequate for that, not a place we would choose to spend more than one night. Very steep access road, sites tight to get in and out of and all sites are carved out of the side of the hill. The shower facilities were just adequate - water pressure was poor and although clean, bathhouse itself could stand some sprucing up. Once in the park we received a one time only code to exit thru the gate should we need to leave that evening for anything after 8pm. They did have a "pillow jump" that our children enjoyed. The game room was quite a hike from the camping area so we did not use it. Although not unfriendly, the staff were not particularly helpful either. Not a place we would choose to stay again unless we had to.

Great campground, very helpful and friendly staff - front desk staff took time to go over local map with us and point out highlights. We had bit of a mechanical problem with our rig - staff gave us several recommendations - we called an individual who arrived within the hour and corrected problem for us at a very reasonable charge. All sites seemed to offer some shade and were well-maintained and level. Our children enjoyed the pool and game room, the nature trail to the creek was a nice quiet walk. Shower facilities were clean and well-maintained. Laundry facilities worked well and were not too expensive. Wifi worked well with strong signal - and free of charge! The store was well stocked, although a trip to town for supplies was easy here. This campground was easily accessible to all that we wanted - the Amish experience in Shipshewana a highlight, especially Menno-hof an Amish/Mennonite museum/info center, the RV museum in Elkhart a real treat. We did not do a factory tour this trip, but hope to make another venture to this area and take that in. This is a campground we will return to again.

We spent 4 days here while visiting family nearby and had a wonderful experience. Site #10 at the end of the row overlooking the lake: level pull through FHU, Wi-Fi available, nice fire pit with grate, large shade tree. Easy access to walk down to the dock to watch sunset each day. Bugs were a bit bothersome, but just part of the package of being lakeside. They have other sites that were closer to the main road, but these did not offer charm of lake and shade for us. Store not particularly well stocked, obviously a number of permanent sites, but we were here during the week and the park was quiet and enjoyable. Kids enjoyed both the playground and the pool. Main shower facilities nice, second shower facilities had timed water where you had to keep pushing button to keep shower going. At least there was no charge for it. Laundry facilities were adequate. Plenty to see in the area: a visit to Arnolds Park amusement park was a treat, a day trip to the "End of the Line" Railroad Museum in Currie, MN (pop. 250) was a treasure we discovered by accident. If you are in the area, go see it! Overall, we had a positive experience at Cenla and would stay here again.

Nice for overnight stop. Level, easily accessible sites. Sites a bit too close with no shade for my taste for any longer stay, but restrooms were very clean, store not stocked particularly well, but you are close to other shopping here. Easy on and off the interstate. Again, a good overnight stop.

Overnight stop for us. Had nice level sites with shade. Nice campground with clean, modern restrooms. Our children enjoyed the pool and I found their laundry facilities inexpensive and well-maintained. Although we did not have much contact with staff they were friendly and helpful when necessary. We would stay here again.

Great campground adjacent to Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. If you are traveling on the blue Ridge Parkway, this would be a very convenient stop. We went to this campground on our "maiden voyage" and the staff/owners were terrific! Everyone checking on us and helping us as questions came up. All the facilities were clean and well maintained with shaded, level gravel sites. Very family friendly with pool, fishing lake, volleyball court and great bike riding around campground. Everyone associated with the campground was knowledgable, very friendly and helpful! Each campsite had fire ring and picnic table. Small store was well stocked. We will definitely return to this campground!
