Very nice campground. Very large campground. Very spread out. Most RV sites are more than a half mile from the office. No bikes allowed down around the office area. No late check in, and would be lucky if you catch anyone in the office. We stayed here while on vacation across the country. This is the closest park to New York, an hours drive to the Hobooken Path station. But leaving before 9 in the mornIng and not getting back till after 9 at night, we NEVER saw any of the office personnel or the office open. Campground was quiet and clean. Lots of large, old growth trees. We would stay here again no problem. Could have scored it higher except for the odd office hours, and strange bike rules.
What a pleasant place to have happened upon. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Super quiet, friendly people, and an awesome town for photo buffs. Pleasant setting in an old train yard, super cool views, gentle running river next to your sites. The local police department serves as camp hosts. Nice level sites, no too close to your neighbors. By far the best $15 we spent on our cross country trip.
We chose this campground out of desperation. The campground has the potential to be very nice, but needs some attention to detail. No cable TV, and what channels we could get to come in over the antenna, kept cutting out. Making it impossible to even watch. Forget WiFi. The camp book and review sites all say Internet is available, but only if you are very lucky. We never got hooked up. We settled for a site with no sewer because we were told that was all that was available. But over the course of our 2 days the full hook up sites remained vacant. We would stay here again only if we had too, but the campsite was only worth half what we paid for.
We have continually camped here at Harris Beach. It is an Annual trip we look forward to. The campground is one of the nicest we have ever been to. Memorial Day usually fills up the required 60 days before stay. So getting a spot takes some planning on big weekends, but it is truly worth marking your calendar. Other times of the year are not as hard to get reservations for. The weather is always nice, and the tall redwoods give great shelter from the wind, with nice warming rays of sunshine to keep the chill off. An easy campground to walk even when your 7 months pregnant :-), we took our dog last time and had just as much fun. We are heading there this year for Labor day, can't wait for the trip to get here. This campground is affordable and extremely clean.
Take Notice. Great Camping on the Ocean! With reading the previous reviews, we were prepared to have a hard time finding this RV park, and were expecting at most a mediocre campground. But this campground is Super easy to find, coming off of Hwy 20 from Willits. Heading north you barely have time to get your rig up to speed when it is right there on the left. The appearance when you pull in makes you think twice, but our camp spot #55 was AWESOME!! Was facing the ocean (as was the whole row). Easy to set up, even with the garbage cans kind of in the way. There are no tables or fire pits; no problem, their presence was not missed. Except for difficulty in BBQing. Whales were jumping off shore, and the ocean was spectacular. The RV park is close to everything, including Glass Beach, and the restrooms, (husband was super concerned) were very clean, a little older but none the less exceptionally clean. Entire RV park was quiet and restful, sounds in the distance of fog horns and occasional boats just added to the experience. Weather was in the mid 70's, and we could not have asked for a nicer trip. Thank you for an affordable stay!! We will definitely return in the future.
