We picked the best time of year to go to this state park (mid September). We were the only camper in our entire section the whole time we were there. It was less than 100 feet walk to the water to go fishing. This is not on the main part of the lake so there are not a bunch of powerboats/jet-skis flying by at full throttle. Sites were well shaded and had picnic tables/fire rings. Having walked around some I would highly recommend sites B77- B82 or B15-16. One problem with our site was a permanent lantern pole that prevented our awning from being extended. Since the site was so well shaded this was not really a big deal. The other thing is that the gates close at 8 pm, so you have to be back before then or you are locked out.
We absolutely loved this place. Our site was right on the creek and it was very relaxing to fall asleep to the sound of the running water. The campground itself was clean and well kept. Wi-Fi was very weak unless next to the office and even then if too many people got on the whole thing would reset. The only issue we had were some complaints about our dog (barking when we were out) but even then the owners were very accommodating in working with us to come up with a solution. We would definitely come here again.
Very quiet campground. We stayed here while visiting local attractions like Tweetsie Railroad and Blowing Rock. Campground was clean and well kept. They had video games and movies on Friday/Saturday. They were also giving out free root beer floats and vanilla lattes. The only issues we had was that our site was not exactly level and narrower than expected. They had a ton of magnolia trees providing lots of shade. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our first time staying in West Virginia and we could not have picked a better place. Aside from the endless list of amenities the campground was well maintained and clean. Check out the website for all of the stuff they have. We enjoyed riding the aerial tram, the nature center, and I was able to get a couple of rounds of golf in. We would stay here again. Probably not ideal for an overnight stay because it is approximately 15 miles from the interstate.
This is our second time staying here, and it was a great weekend once again. The sites are fairly level and well shaded. Each one had a fire ring and picnic table. The biggest attraction to coming here is the family friendly park just a short walk from the campground. They have a small zoo, petting zoo, miniature train ride, carousel, mini golf, paddle boats, fishing, and a playground. Everything is very economically priced. If you have kids under 10 this would be a great place to stay for a weekend. We would definitely stay here again.
