For the life of me I do not understand the high ratings for this park. It is dumpy to be nice. Nothing attractive about it. Old trucks sitting around, two old mobile homes with old tires on their roofs. The pros: only 8 miles to Big Bend NP, full hook-ups and very quiet. Cons: dumpy and that is being nice. No cellular voice or data service. Sites on one side are very close together, on the other side they are spaced further apart, but again run down outbuildings, old trucks and much to be desired in landscaping (there is none). If we wanted to go to Big Bend again, this is close, but it sure does not deserve anything above a 4 or 5 in rating, if that.
Really nice owner, very friendly and helpful. Yes, it is on top of the hill and looks over the interstate and town. Somehow the traffic noise wasn't that noticeable up there. All gravel sites but decent spacing, not great but works even for large rigs. Individual rooms for men and women, each had shower, toilet and sink. Very clean in their own little building. Owners live on site and a very nice landscaped and layout arrangement. Would definitely stay here again when passing through.
We really enjoyed this campground even though it was in the middle of the desert and ATVing is the popular activity. It was quiet while we were there, but according to their rules it would be even when they have a lot of ATVers. ATVers must use a back gate and push the vehicle out do the park or in to avoid stirring up dust. The sites are surrounded with some kind of tree/bush which provided shade for a good portion of the day. This campground was immaculate! They sweep and rack the sites each day and also the dog park, which they also roll pack. The shower house/bathroom was spotless and I observed them multiple times each day, checking it out. The laundry room was also extremely clean. The owners and workkampers were so friendly and helpful. The owners are building a pool and hot tub which is going to be beautiful when finished later this year. I would definitely stay here when in the area. Again, ATVing is the thing to do in this area, so it could be dusty (more than normal) in the area, but not inside this campground.
Sites were spacious and large and that is about the best that can be said. Overgrown with weeds; our site had quite a bit of broken glass. Every thing is gravel, dirt, and weeds. This place could have potential if someone would do some work. Sites on each side of us had leaking water pipes, which were reported, but numerous people said no one seemed interested if fixing them. Bath house left a lot to be desired. Husband liked location for fly fishing, but I won't stay here again.
First off, they advertise a dog park which is totally false. They have a very small space, nothing but some dirt and some grass with pig fencing and a short cattle gate. Any size dog could escape in a few seconds. No one I saw even considered taking their dog in it. It was extremely small besides. Bathrooms were clean, but not great. Sites were close together. Ours was so short we could not park our 25' trailer and the tow vehicle together. They served meals, but were very expensive and not so great for the price. The sites were kept clean, but for the prices they charge I would hope so. I would not pay these prices and stay there again. There are other parks closer to town.
The park is part of a complex that includes a mobile home park, and it seems quite a few of the sites within the RV portion are occupied permanently. Some are well maintained and others not so much. The section for nightly visitors was well maintained and clean. The pull-through section was roomier than the back-in sites we were in. Staff was very friendly; she gave us a back-in site, which was tight. A few minutes later came to find us and tell us she had a pull through available. Since we were only here one night, we declined but thought it was nice that she would come offer it. Grass around pull-throughs, asphalt on back in. Extremely clean showers and restrooms.
This was a surprise, because reviews have been bad, but we found the office friendly. Sites had mostly grass, and after 10 days of sand and gravel it was nice to have some grass. Sites were extremely close, but pretty level. Dog park was also first one in 10 days that didn't have waste in it. Everything was picked up either by good responsible dog owners or the staff cleaned up. Close to the National park and town had lots to offer. Laundry was clean also. We would stay here again.
We stayed here for a rally, and the family that owns the park are great! Yes the sites are sand, dirt and gravel, but that is to be expected in this part of the state. Sites were spacious and well maintained. We had a very nice patio at our site. Their dog park is one of the best we have seen. The showers, restrooms and laundry were immaculate. They are on a hill overlooking the valley which was nice. Only down side was the wind; it was very windy during our six days there.
This park was not as bad as some previous reviews have indicated. Office help was nice and friendly. Sites were close but level. The park was well maintained. Showers and restrooms were clean. We would stay here again if we visited the Monument Vally again.
We were not impressed with this KOA; sites were very close together, at weird angles and on slants. They did have two nice dog parks, one for small dogs and for large. Office help was friendly. They made pizzas to deliver which we're OK not great, but the idea is good. I would probably not stay here again.
This park has a neat idea. It is pretty new, within the last two years, so they are still working on landscaping. Yes, it is all dirt/sand and gravel, but the sites are spacious, everything was well maintained and the drive-in theater was neat. They only show movies on the weekend,so we did not have a chance to try that out. They have 6 Vintage Avalon trailers for rent. We would stop here for the night again if we ever went this way.
Small campground, very friendly and helpful owner. Older but well kept and clean. We had a shady pull through site. When we drove up I thought it would not be level, but when we got Into the site it was perfectly level. Owner directed us to the site and into it. A bit of road noise from local road but with our fans on didn't hear anything through the night. Nicely spaced and shaded site. Would stay over here again as an overnight stop.
Nicely landscaped, definitely big rig friendly. Sites very close together. Easy to find. Would stop here when traveling by. Right next to fair ground, so depending that could be a negative. Large building with showers, laundry, grocery, check-in, bathrooms and arcade. Didn't have a chance to check it all out as arrived late and left early.
Nice COE park. Our site was small, but all those around us were nice size, which is probably why ours was the next to last one open. Next to bike path, really nice. We would definitely stay here again.
We overnighted here on our way to Arkansas. Check in was easy and friendly. They gave us directions to a good restaurant. Good location and easy to get to. They had a dog park for letting our pups run. Nice area to walk around. I would stop here again.
We stayed here 7 nights in loop D. The sites were spacious and well separated by large trees. The pad itself and the roads are blacktop and are well maintained. The shower houses were kept very clean and checked twice a day. There are garbage cans at each site, secured and emptied every couple days. It was a lovely park, very nice for walking. Would definitely stay here again when passing through the area.
